  1. And Selig…. Uecker
  2. Yep. 14 boards and some toughness…
  3. Not sure why Bobby was sitting in the 4th… especially when guys are bullying our guards in the paint.
  4. We haven’t had many 7:10 home start times yet in 2022, but we will with summer just around the corner. For several years now, weeknight school nights (April, May, and Sept.) start at 6:40. That seems more reasonable. Most games are done before 10. I cannot see the sound reasoning any more of starting any game at 7:10… just seems so late given a number of factors: games are lasting longer, healthwise one’s sleep is better earlier (circadian rhythm is best/lowest between 9 P.M and 5:00A.M.) general safety in more and more neighborhoods seems to get worse in the summer past 10/10:30, so many seem to leave around 9:30/9:45 anyways, restaurants are closing earlier and earlier it seems, and all the old reasons like kids bedtimes and being home earlier for those traveling long distances. I would like to see all night games start at 6:20. I don’t think tailgating would be affected that much. Some would leave/get out of work earlier; others would choose to miss the first inning. I’ve seen schools progressively start more and more events earlier in the evening and not have attendance numbers drop. Families seem to like the idea of getting home earlier more than the negative of arriving to the event at an earlier time. Interested in what others think, especially after Covid. Many travel habits and social interactions seem to have changed for many. Thanks.
  5. Having Renfroe back is nice... thanks Roderick for that. That covers a corner. But, yeah, I don't believe that's it's reasonable to expect any two current Brewers minor league outfielders to be labeled as starters at the beginning of 2023. They simply are not good enough or not proven enough.... yet. Twist it and mock however you will, I am not against playing the best players, whether it be rookies or old vets. I am just not banking on the specific players mentioned, Weimer and Mitchell (or any other Brewers minors OF), playing big innings at the beginning of 2023. Taylor and Renfroe are there to jump over for playing time, as well. Also, Braun won the ROY with four months in 2007 (not 2008)... they knew he was good. They also did not bring him up right away, not until late May, I believe. He was a top prospect for a couple of steady years too. Burnes and Woodruff started four games total combined in 2018; both were mainly used as late season weapons out of the pen. Neither were thought of as key cogs at the beginning of the season. Starting Weimer and Mitchell on Opening Day 2023 and planning on them starting 120-130 games is not reasonable for how are team is constructed. A cup of coffee? Sure. Small roles. ok. Banking on starting roles for both when our pitching is top 5 in MLB and the team is playoff contenders? Nah. I haven't seen enough good from either (especially Mitchell) yet.
  6. The more realistic Brewers to extend after the season might include Houser, Lauer, and Adames.
  7. Wiemer and Mitchell is the plan for losing Renfroe and McCutchen in 2023? This would be a great plan if we planned on not seriously competing and rebuilding instead with the farm. Great positivity and glass half full and all… not a realistic plan, imo. Maybe one can back up next season and start in 2024. Trading a Woodruff’s two years in 2023 would get you quality prospects at high milb levels, especially if Woodruff is top 10 CY Young this year. Our upper levels are in need of more quality, as well. Call it a Rays move. I am all for keeping everybody but that doesn’t seem very money smart or even asset smart. In two years when our best players contracts are about up, we would be getting far less back in trades or forced to pay major bucks on the last year of arby and then possibly watch them walk.
  8. I am against signing ANY SP long term (5 years plus). Way too risky. Yelich is on the books for a long while too.
  9. Arby keeps getting more expensive and is going to leave a major mark in 2023. In what, a year, it’s going to run another 30 to 40 million, ballpark. Granted, we lose Cain, McCutch, and Renfroe. A must is to add a couple starting OF pieces FA if we choose not to trade and try to compete…running roughly what we are losing in salary. A major trade or two almost needs to be done by the start of 2023 because of it so we do not have to overspend for OF free agents. Arby eligible guys include Hader, Burnes, Woody, Adames, Urias, Telles, Houser, Williams, Lauer, Hiura… avg increase of 3 to 4 million each in 2023? A trade of a SP for young OF or two makes a lot of cents this offseason to balance roster and the books. Then again, this is assuming MA doesn’t want a payroll in the 150 to 160 million range.
  10. Burnes wanted Game 4? Yes. CC wanted him to go Game 4? Yes. Burnes was honest in that he said he wasn’t 100% ready but said he could still pitch well. https://www.mlb.com/news/corbin-burnes-nlds-game-4-status
  11. And a whole team of players exiting the playoffs early.
  12. That’s great… thanks Outlander!
  13. The guy running the team asked Burnes to go on three days rest and he couldn’t. Good try, though.
  14. It’s actually on topic…how will pitchers be used or used differently in 2022? We still have our same pitchers. Not old news. I want Burnes to be able, if needed, to pitch on 3 days rest in the NLDS or Hader/Williams pitching two innings in a key playoff game in 2022.
  15. I think CC asked him to start Game 4 by the way, and he simply wasn’t ready to do it. If I have to blame someone, I blame CC more than Burnes.
  16. Well, I was talking to those who are saying the pitching is behind now because of the lack of a normal spring training. I don’t believe that. Guys can pitch on their own in Feb/March however they want so they are ready Day 1. With Burnes, the team was largely using a 6man rotation most of the year, and he STILL can’t go one extra day earlier in the arguably biggest game of the year? 167 innings. Yeah, hitting was the reason they lost. Second that, of course. I just wanted the Braves to beat Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta/Burnes/Woodruff three times. Game 5 would have been in Milwaukee too. Not unreasonable to think,..
  17. Late spring, whatever… these guys should be throwing so that they are ready for the first game. My guess is that all of them were pitching privately somewhere, somehow like they would have been in Arizona. The bigger issue that gnaws at me is still from 2021. Burnes is CY Young, but CY Young not being able to go 5 or 6 innings (or at all) on 3 days rest cost them in Game 4. Woodruff would have been able to then go on regular rest for Game 5. Having Burnes/Woodruff able to pitch 4 games in the NLDS and having Hader/Williams pitch 2 innings in the playoffs, if not regular season, should be a talked about goal.
  18. The DH can be inserted into the field? Still?
  19. Straying a bit….Letting Randy Wolf bat in a tie game at home in the 9th with one out, bases loaded, when the back up catcher was still available. Macha never used the entire bench, rarely using the backup catcher to hit in fear of a late injury. Wolf struck out. Weeks walked or got hit by pitch to win. Favorite would be Woodruff off Kershaw, but this other was memorable and maddening, but a win.
  20. He caught that ball.
  21. Average Chuckle wins this game.
  22. Didn’t read every post, but does anyone know why Vogt played so little (if any) in the 2nd half? So weird not seeing him spell Crowl, who was just bad consistently over the last month. Vogt at least plays big down low on D… scores on dunks and layups too.
  23. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Daily/Issues/2022/01/31/Facilities/American-Family-Field.aspx Hate this.,, one, because what parent on the first three decks really wants to trek up to the fourth deck for this. Also, the safety of the 4th deck is questionable, at best, on a later evening especially with kids. Literally putting it in the worst possible place in the ballpark. I thought the kids area was an absolute strength of the park….. now, we’ll see.
  24. Colgate can beat WI because I assume they can beat Nebraska. ?Glad for the seeding and placement on the Midwest/Milwaukee/Chicago. I look at each game as a toss up throughout the tournament for Wisconsin. They can play with anyone and seemingly can lose to anyone.
