  1. More Hiura at DH and bring up Frelick to play in CF. The offense needs to get a kick start.
  2. Winning tomorrow would be big. Up half game with four Dodger games (really 7 in the next two weeks) seems much different than down game and a half.
  3. Absurd to not ride the hot bat now. Sitting Hiura and pinch hitting him when a RIGHTY is pitching is like pinch running for Ruiz at AAA. Let the guy do what he does best, especially of late. And give him the DH five nights a week. Jerking him around. Crazy and stubborn of CC.
  4. Hiura being jerked around again. 1.067 OPS against righties in 2022—- 84 PA
  5. I agree. I also was not convinced Hiura was on the bag. Rays Could’ve viewed the challenge as not being worth it with two outs and a man on first.
  6. Red Sox, Pirates, Reds And yes, we can use a bat because on paper the pitching isn’t better.
  7. The deadline was a disaster. Not a fan of letting Hader go for similar of what we could get in 2023 (and keeping him for 22 is not ALL IN), not picking up a bat, trading for a guy on the IL who hasn’t pitched in two years, giving Lamet away AND THEN cutting McGee, and keeping Suter around. Comparing all Brewers deadlines and offseason transactions, the Fingers, Simmons, and Vuke pickup for ‘81 was hands down the best. The ‘22 deadline is arguably the worst so far. Here’s hoping it is judged much differently at season’s end and in 5/10 years, but as of right now we are arguably a little worse than before the deadline while all the other NL contenders got better, many in areas of their weakness.
  8. Hiura should be starting against everyone. Daily. He is hitting well. Hate watching him field, though, I have to admit. If only the NL had the DH.
  9. Three ways the Brewer nation lets this trade go... If Hader does so poorly they remove him from closer. Hader gets hurt for the rest of the year. Brewers go further in playoffs this year AND next year. As a whole, most saw no reason for this trade at this moment. The two prospects of similar quality could have been picked up in the offseason.
  10. My grade now goes down again after letting McGee go. Between McGee and Suter, Lamet could have had a spot in this bullpen easily. Both CC and DS bragged Lamet up and then let him go. Down to a D-
  11. Not possible. What owner hires a saboteur?
  12. Well, if you think the Brewers are really talented, then you would have a case. Run differential says otherwise. Really, we are over achieving by that standard. We also are a lightweight payroll wise and the thought that we have had four consecutive playoffs is still amazing to me (albeit 2020 is under .500 and playoffs from 2019-2021 equates to a 1-7 record). I think of the Oakland A’s with Hudson, Mulder, and Zito. I think of the Twins of years back and the stretch where they were in the playoffs yearly losing to the Yankees. Not many small market teams have played such consistent regular season baseball. Craig Counsell gets like three or four more seasons regardless what happens this season. Glad to have him and Stearns. Truly amazing from 2017- now,…all Hader years, by the way. That being said, what Stearns did at the deadline and what CC is doing messing with Hiura daily, are off the charts weird. Brewers fans are carrying the Hader anger with them around their neck.
  13. He hit well in late June/ early July and got sent down. Really unusual.
  14. Or sit him against the righty in this game,… jerked around.
  15. Just keep playing him. DH at 8th in order. As we saw in five innings tonight, it’s an adventure for him in the field. Sadly, I expect him to sit the next two days, get pinch hit the next game, and then play him in LF two days later. I feel for the guy even though he has made his bed.
  16. Yes, I think the new CBA covers this. Good call. Back in the day guys were put through August waivers often and pulled back or were never in danger of losing the player if not claimed. Like you say, I think we would lose Yelich FA and would pay him. Sorry for the thread.
  17. If you were GM, do you put Yelich and his contract through waivers? If the team did, I don’t think anyone would bite. However, a big market might engage in the possibility, especially if they believe they could fix Yelich back to 2018/2019 form. And even if they couldn’t, he’s been a fair to avg or even good hitter in 2022. One side of me says absolutely. Get rid of that weight of a hefty contract for the next 6 plus seasons. Of course. The other part says maybe not. The state of Wisconsin has been left in either an uproar or foggy daize with the trade of Hader, and a move just giving Yelich to a team claiming him would produce so much ridicule of a cheap owner and team. It would be a damage to team chemistry and would ultimately be foolish, especially with Yelich hitting better for the last several weeks, albeit with little power. Overall, I probably do It just knowing that we have some pitching I’d like to keep around. We also have a few outfielders to plug in this year and especially in 2023 or 2024 from our AAA outfield squad of four.
  18. Brewers believe Suter>Lamet. Could have cut Suter. We have three other lefties. Brewers could have cut McGee for Lamet. Brewers could have optioned Milner for Lamet (bring up Milner in Sept.). A little hangover craziness from trading Hader for same haul now as 2022 offseason trade, not trading for a needed rental bat, paying free spending SD for a relief pitcher and then cutting him a day later after manager/GM praised him, to trading for a huge question mark injured reliever to pitch in September after not pitching in two years.
  19. Just play Hiura 5 times a week, bat him 8th, and give him DH. There is a spot for him, especially this year with the DH. McCutchen can still play over half the games in CF or even some DH. Like others say, Hiura has been jerked around. Even the last two/three days, he has hardly played after hitting very well in Nashville the week prior. Just An at bat for a thrown out of game Yelich does not help. His #s against righties this year is MVP like in limited at bats, and he needs at bats, he needs comfort in knowing he is going to play consistently for the next three or four weeks, comfort in knowing he will DH and not be thrown in at 1B, 2B, or LF, comfort in batting lower in the lineup, and comfort in knowing he isn’t going to be sent down in August. I hope CC can sit down and tell him this in a nutshell. Give him the best opportunity to succeed. Do or die time, really, for him.
  20. Yeah, the argument shouldn’t be “Did the Brewers get better at the deadline?” They did not. If you want to argue that they did not get worse, ok. If you love the prospects, it’s great for 2024-2028. The question should be “Did Stearns and Attanasio have talks about payroll in 2023/2024?” THAT should be a given, but I don’t know if it was given comments from both recently. If I’m Stearns, I would want to know if we could add significant payroll, albeit from arby increases in 2023 and 2024, to temporarily go above what is budgeted. If Stearns thinks, I cannot keep EVERYONE (Burnes, Woodruff, Hader, Adames, etc..) next year, I better make life easier for myself this season and make a prospects trade at an opportune time, rather than having more issues in $ and trading this offseason, then the optics are tricky. I really hope they are communicating, even now, about the futures of Burnes and Woodruff, especially. Then the question is…Did we trade Hader to get better long term or was it more about trading to better afford 2023/2024 payrolls?
  21. Very possible one catcher is on IL tomorrow. Even a slight one there are two on IL tomorrow. Someone call Jacob Nottingham!
  22. It is still puzzling! Of course, it is. Lamet sounds like an easy decision to keep in the pen. Move Milner down or cut Suter. McGee? Really baffling to trade for, plan on having him, brag him up to defend Hader trade, and then get rid of him the next day. And pay SD to take him. And give a supposedly good pitcher away for nothing, Mlbtraderumors says that if no one picks up Lamet, he can refuse being sent to Nashville because he has five years of service time. He would get his entire contract as FA. No need to even be sent down to get $.
