  1. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-struggling-attendance-back-pre-025414185.html I would buy a 20 game package if the prices were at 50-60% of reg prices. It isn’t close. Stubhub and spring deals make it a lot easier to attend for less. Parking your car for $40 preferred day of game is excessive too… and gas to get there. That is the biggie in my mind, the cost to drive your vehicle an hour plus there and back $40-$50 already.
  2. Any? Come now.
  3. Well, we are in first place by ourselves tomorrow regardless of today’s outcome… Cards game postponed.
  4. The Brewers have made four consecutive playoffs. They are leading their division. Small markets can still compete, and Stearns/Counsell/Attanasio get an A+ for doing that. It is really amazing to see the Brewers doing so well, year in and year out. And they are doing it with less, MUCH less than the avg. team that gets to the playoffs. Besides the Rays, the Brewers are the best small market in baseball. It’s almost unbelievable to me, considering our team’s history. Now, are we going to have to get used to trading players in year five and six? Yes. Think back to Carlos Lee, Francisco Cordero, Prince, Greinke… it happened for us before and it will happen again. I am ok with it as long as we can have 120-150 mil payroll in the next 10 years’ game. That pretty much means we can have a few stars and keepers or good FAs, but we have to rely on smart trades and constant avg to above avg cheap, young players to compete for the playoffs. I actually think it will be healthy for the organization to get a few top ranked prospects for a Hader or Woodruff this offseason., even though the loss will leave a mark. It will sting, sure, but hitting on a good bat/arm or two is needed so the cheap talent pump line can keep coming through.
  5. Extending Burnes is not an option any more, imo, unless Burnes is willing to take huge pay cut at 4 or 5 years…, 5 years for 125 mil, sure. But he should be at 8 years for 300 mil, right? Hader is traded or if really poor offers come in, he stays and plays out his contract. No chance of giving a reliever 20 mil a year over 4 or 5 years in our market.
  6. The payroll alone forces the Brewers to trade a SP and Hader this offseason, unless MA is all good with a much higher payroll next year with like ten expensive arby cases. I cannot see us paying Burnes, Woodruff, or Hader top money (ridiculous money in each case for our payroll that already has Yelich) on long, risky contracts (yep, Teddy Higuera here, but on steroids) in the long term either…And if the shocking happens that one of these guys signs an extension here, the others are even more likely to not return. Then, a few secondary reasons come in like we have young starting pitchers waiting in the wings with Ashby and Small, we have Devon Williams to close, and we actually are in need of quality, controllable bats and top prospects in the upper levels of our farm system. Oh yeah, our attendance is down too. Much as I’d like to roll with the same group in 2023, I just can’t see it happening at different levels. my current guesses—-Traded in offseason of 2023- Hader and Woodruff (Adames extension) 2024- Burnes (Ashby and Tellez extension)
  7. Boy, fun options. I think Woodruff needs to be dangled this offseason. Burnes would get you back more, but he has been so, so good. Tough to let him go with two years of control left. Houser and Lauer likely won’t get as big of a return as you’d like, as well. Hader is the interesting one. He might cost 18 million next year. How much would a team be willing to give up to get him? For the Brewers, it would have to be a significant player or two otherwise why bother. He is the best reliever in baseball and his numbers put him with one of the best ever. Much like Burnes, tough to give up when looking to win it all.
  8. An actual person to talk to would be wonderful….even if it’s a week later.
  9. Went to the Dells recently. All fast food indoor restaurants we visited were sooo messy. Trash overflowing, tables not wiped, dirty floors. Young worker kids standing around…I, the customer, could have cleaned those areas in 20-30 minutes by myself. Crazy bad, especially for food services
  10. Getting the Wisconsin Department of Education to communicate with me in any form….. the worst public relations. They do not have a phone number… well, they do, but fat chance at speaking with anyone. It was super bad before Covid. It’s worse now. They do not return emails. I have case # emails that look professional and organized with assurances that someone is going to look into it Nah. They a are batting 0-5 on this over 2021 and 2022. Love to hear with someone who has had success with them.
  11. 2014 and 2017… just awful ends of the year 2012 just awful bullpen..Axford and KRod blew so many saves. That was a 95 win team with a 2011 pen.
  12. Quality team still matters too. Yearly poor teams will not bring in 2 million fans. Brewers have been fortunate to have the competitive yearly team for about 18 years now.
  13. Besides his throw to get Reggie at third in ALCS Game 5, I remember him for tearing up when his name was announced as he walked across Miller Park’s infield during the 25th anniversary celebration of the 82 team. Crazy what you remember… Who knew… 4th in team history for seasons played with ball club.
  14. Yankees were one of the first… based off a Tiffany’s design on a medal given to NY police officer in the 1870s.
  15. His effort is lacking too. Can he run out a grounder? Can he get a jump on a fly ball? Looks lazy and old now. Throwing a fly ball back to the infield looks a lot like work for him…. And that’s not new.
  16. Yankee wannabe logo, imo. Just awful teams.
  17. I expect a real or convenient injury to Cain soon.
  18. I expect a real or convenient injury to Cain soon.
  19. Yeah, the Molitor statue would be fine with me. He kind of gave that up when he went to Toronto, though.
  20. I thought Dallas and Miami would meet in the finals at the start of the playoffs, but I'll admit I abandoned that thinking when the Suns won the first games against Dallas. I like Miami over Boston. Boston was almost as tired as we were, it seemed, in Games 6 and 7. I think Miami can do it in 6. I like Dallas over Golden State even more. I don't like the size of Golden State or its toughness. If they are off from 3, anybody can beat them handily. That is their whole game. I also think Green and Curry are punks. They are living off past glories... too cocky and full of themselves. Simply not as good as they used to be. I like Dallas in 6.
  21. Middleton's defense allowed others to guard someone of less quality, as well. For as much as Middleton got credit for his offense, his defense was also a key, as well. The rotation and also the amount of rest was changed. Giannis and Jrue could get another breather and for a longer period of time when Middleton was in there..... never seen our team look as tired as Game 7. His absence affected all phases.
  22. I don’t agree. I think this team would still be celebrated even if we had five other WS championships. It meant so much to people. And it wasn’t just 1982. That is what people often fail to remember. The team was pretty good for six years (1978-1983)….all playoff caliber teams in 2022. And it built up from good groups, to playoffs in 1981, to being up 3-1 in WS Game 7 in 1982. I include 1983 because of the afterglow and relative competitiveness of that group too. However,if one of those pretend championships would have been between 1978-1981 or 1983, I don’t think 1982 would be celebrated, probably just the year the championship was actually won. There were so many similar players that played several years on those teams from i1978-1983….. I see 1982 as the culmination of that whole group and feel. Unmatched in team history for good feelings about a group (2007-2008 was close), that whole era should be remembered, especially for the 40th anniversary. Remembering it every 5 to 10 years seems about right.
  23. Well…having numerous 2 guards is beneficial… play the guy that is hitting.
