  1. CC lost games sitting him in August. Plain and simple. Close, low scoring games were lost with him on the bench. And then when he played, it was often a pinch hit or starts against a lefty. Rare at bats for like 3 weeks. There is a hole in his swing, sure. But he walks and hits mistakes hard. He’s hitting better than anyone on the team! Just play him! What more can he do? Let him be bad. Then sit him. Like everyone else ever.
  2. Still a nightmare deadline…still.
  3. His control has been awful too. Somewhat with Milwaukee in July, but especially in August I also didn’t like his comment about how Padres are a team not just trying to make the playoffs; they’re looking for a World Series. Sorta implying we haven’t been thinking WS. Well, even if he is nail on head this season at the deadline, the Padres haven’t done squat compared to the Brewers in the last 15 years. Plus, Hader was a main reason why we didn’t go further in the playoffs in 19 and 21. Padres (and Phillies) can be caught.p easier than Cards, imo
  4. Well, the Cards/Phillies/Padres top of the rotation doesn’t scare me as much as other other teams…. Maybe they should.
  5. Unless Burnes pitches Game 1 of the NLDS, he pitches only 1 game in the NLDS. He would have to pitch on short rest if he went Game 2. He likely does not even go Game 1 NLDS because he likely pitches Game 1 NLWC, and there again he would be forced to pitch on 3 days rest. It is huge for us if he cannot do this once or twice if we get to the postseason. Fri Burnes Sat Woody Sun Peralta Mon Off Tues Lauer Wed Burnes Thurs Off Fri Woody Sat Peralta Sun. Burnes needs a day yet so Suppan “ Soup pitched great.”
  6. Or pitching Suppan Game 4 or Marcum Game 6..... that bad. Or trading Hader for bits and pieces
  7. Equivalent of only playing Mark Brouhard once (ALCS Game 4) in the entire 1982 postseason. They had a DH spot too. Brouhard opened the scoring with an RBI single. The Brewers cruised to a 7-0 lead behind a stellar outing from Moose Haas, but the Angels crept back and made things interesting thanks to a grand slam by Don Baylor. Brouhard slammed the door shut after that, though, bashing a two-run homer to bring Milwaukee a 9-5 victory. He closed the day at 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBIs, and four runs scored (the latter tying a playoff record).
  8. We do not have enough Hiura threads. Guy is buried. Numbers are outstanding this year. Even CC said that Ks aren't the big issue, more that he looks at the lineup overall and gets the group he likes best. Problem is, he starts what, once or twice a week. Jerked around.... can't even blame him when he does play poorly anymore when you get to hit 7 times in a week.... should easily just be given the DH for 4/5 times a week, maybe an occasional start in the field and pulled late with a lead. Frelick is just sitting there too for a call up. Wait around another week to call him up and it simply might be too late. The house is burning and Stearns/CC are sitting on the couch eating popcorn. We need offense in the starting lineup, and a 4th grader can see how that could be helped. Losing these close, low scoring games a bunch this month. A spark or two would help. Worth it to try Hiura and Frelick, right?
  9. The extra playoff team helps all of these small markets who usually have to sell out, get FA, and trade prospects just to get to the playoffs for a year or two. These short windows for the little guy can now open a bit. Play a little above .500 and you can get to the playoffs. Have an ace or two, ala Milwaukee, and anything can happen in a 3 and 5 game series especially.
  10. Phillies and Padres losin.. Hiura twiddling his thumbs.
  11. The move to 28 hurt the Brewers. Ironically, Melvin had lobbied something similar for years.
  12. I feel there is still hope, even this year. It is ok to play him 7th in the order against a tough lefty too.
  13. I hope Burnes is rested so that he can pitch Games 1 and 5.
  14. Playoffs favor the big bucks teams always, we know. Especially this year. These playoff teams that will be playing…. As of right now… 9 of top 12 payroll teams have a spot in the playoffs 5 of the top 12 payrolls lead their division Payrolls #1,2, and 3 (Dodgers, Mets, Yankees) have an avg winning % of 65%.. all over 100 wins. Avg payroll of these 3 teams - $259 million Top winning % outside of top 10 payroll is the Cardinals at .553: 12th highest payroll and only 8th best record Top 7 records in top 10 payroll Cleveland (27th payroll), TB (24th), and Seattle (22nd) are the notable exceptions to the trend, although each cling to a small margin of being in the playoffs (2.5 games- Clev; 1.5 games TB and Sea) Brewers at 19th highest payroll at 129 million and 9th best record. No big point here…. Just thought people would want to be reminded of the big disparity in baseball. Glad we have more teams in playoffs to offset the big money somewhat. Glad there is some revenue sharing and all. Super impressive that the Brewers have made the playoffs the last 4 years, even though this year has been somewhat of a disappointment lately.
  15. Brewers avg .239 Brewers avg with RISP .239 Dennis Green and Jim Mora
  16. Put Hiura and Frelick in the lineup regularly. This offense is in desperate need of a jolt. Waiting around now with this group against good pitching teams…. Just not seeing it. Hiura is on fire against righties and Frelick cannot do much more at AAA.
  17. AND they bring up others to AAA to play OF and squeeze Ruiz out of ABs. Preferring Suter over Lamet also has no defense. Awful decision making at the deadline. Well, they have two great moves or desperation moves left if they want. 1. Bringing up Frelick…. I assume that is coming Sept 1. I actually would be surprised if he is not called up sooner. Really, what are they waiting for? Davis plays really good D, but we need a spark on offense. Maybe Frelick can do just that. 2. Playing Hiura, especially against righties, seems like a no brainer. We are losing these close ballgames with Hiura on the bench against a bunch of righties. Visions of letting Roy Hobbs on the bench… Stubborn Counsell….. visions of sitting Aguilar in 2017 that cost us at least a game and the playoffs.
  18. Hiura and Frelick should be playing regularly in this lineup. Yelich and whatever is CF should have days off.
  19. Really, if we lose the NL Central, does it really hurt us that much? The #3 spot doesn’t give us a bye anyways. Of course a little considering that we still would not have a playoff spot. But playoff spot #6 and #3 are not much different. I actually do not think playing in Milwaukee helps us with the Cards. I’d rather play in St. Louis with this club for two or three games. The pressure would be off, and our pitchers would have a pitchers park, which negates the big bats a bit. I am watching the Phils and Padres closer now.
  20. I agree with most of this. It would be interesting to see what we could get back by trading Woodruff or Burnes, but it would sadden me too considering both are homegrown. It would be mind-blowing to trade both, but then all signals would point to punting 2023. Trading one for an area of need and prospects would be reasonable.
  21. People are complaining about Rodgers facing Pujols? Yet, no mention of having him face all righties and MVP 1a and 1B Goldshmidt and Pujols.
