Obviously, super disappointed. But I always remind myself that every year, 29 fanbases end the season upset — especially from teams ranked somewhere between 2 and 12. Whether your team completely fell apart (looking at you, Pirates, Rockies, White Sox), massively underperformed (Orioles, Angels, D-backs), or did great only to choke in October (Brewers, Phillies, Yankees)… fans are usually always heartbroken. Even the team that loses the World Series walks away crushed. Going out the way we did definitely wasn’t fun, but there’s still a lot to be grateful for: Chourio looked legitimately great this year. Miz finished the season strong. Woodruff not only came back — he looked fantastic. Yelich hit 100+ RBIs with 29 homers. Vaughn gave us some unforgettable moments. We beat the Cubs to win the DS. Set a franchise win streak record. Set a franchise record 97 wins. Claimed another Central title. And our farm system looks bright for the future. I’m sure I’m missing a few, but there’s plenty to high-five each other over. Could’ve been better, sure — but hey, at least we’re not the Pirates.

You know, we’ve seen this before with Yelich—he’s always been an up-and-down player. But with Turang and Frelick, it’s just baffling. Their whole game has always been about gritty at-bats and putting the ball in play. Since when does Sal just watch pitches in the zone go by?

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone right now. Since when does Vaughn just watch blatant strikes and Frelick swing at complete nonsense out of the zone?

Agreed. He'll never be the guy to step up with the spotlight is on him. He usually shines when the stakes are low. Can't be mad because he gave us 103 RBIs and 88 runs this season, which is big. But sheesh, he looks like a dog with his tail between his legs sometimes.

Lineup is out. Lockridge is in centerfield over Perkins. Assuming because Taillon has never faced Lockridge yet (as far as I can see) and Perkins is batting .143 against Taillon. I'm optimistic. I like Lockridge and I think he brings a lot to the table. Get him on first base and put a ton of pressure on a right handed pitcher. Thoughts?

Definitely think Perkins should play-- 100%. I was suggesting a Collins, Perkins and Frelick for the starting lineup. I still believe in Collins to bring it. It'd make me feel better if Chourio got some rest for the CS.

My buddy was sitting on the 3rd base line during the game. He texted me this right after Chourio made that 3rd out where he had to sprint straight in to catch it.

I think it'd be smart to give him some rest. We need him healthy for the NLCS. I believe in Collins to bring his best. He squared up on that line drive to right field in game one pretty well.

I keep going back and fourth on if Pat should play Collins tonight to give Chourio some rest and get him ready to play the Dodgers (or Phillies if they get it together). We really need him in that series. Either you have a "meh" outfielder out there OR every time they hit it to left, we have to hold our breath and hope Chourio doesn't run too hard to the ball.

That AB against Boyd was so good. I love how calm he is out on the field. He may not be our best player, but I feel at ease when he's out there. Like Murph said, this team is really good about not getting too low or too high. And I think Perkins is a great example of that.

One thing I think Murphy has been really good at that drove me absolutely crazy about Counsell is that he reads his players' momentum pretty well (with a few obvious exceptions) and knows when to pull back for some breathing room. Hoskins is clearly struggling at the plate recently. I attached, what I believe, is his last at-bat of the season. Bottom of the 8th and he worked a full count and watched a 95mph Sinker that is clearly in the zone. This feels par for course on what we've seen from him in the last few weeks. BUT I think he's just too shaky to play in tight situations. Sadly, I'd be more comfortable with Monasterio pinch hitting over him right now.

Literally thought the same thing as I was reading this. Those guys really deserve credit for being consistent these last few weeks.

Man, I love that so much. You read this and you immediately understand why Murph will put Contreras in the lineup broken hand or not. I also appreciate that he understands how special a world series would be for the city and its fans. That kind of talk is infectious.

I’ve seen a lot of talk about Hoskins making the playoff roster. Personally, I love the idea of having him in the dugout for his veteran presence—but not on the active roster. I don’t mind a strikeout if it comes after a quality at-bat, working the count and making the pitcher earn it. The problem is, if you go back and watch Hoskins’ recent ABs, they’ve been rough—lots of chasing and poor swing decisions. If he brought plus speed or elite defense, I could make the case. But with Vaughn and Bauers both offering more in those areas (and Vaughn at least holding his own with the glove), it’s hard to justify a roster spot when Hoskins’ swing looks this lost. It’s not an easy call, but I still feel good about Vaughn in that lineup. This is October—we’ve got to put our absolute best foot forward.

I understand that getting beaten by the Cubs in the playoffs would be absolutely painful to watch. Especially knowing how many Cubs fans will be in the seats. BUT, we have looked so lost against the Padres all year. My guess is because they have a similar style of play to the Crew-- not a homerun hitting team, very fast, great defense and incredible pitching. I don't think the Cubs even know what their style of play is. I think that's why the've been so lost in the second half of the season. All that to say, I hate both options but I might have to go with the Cubs. Their hitting hasn't been lights-out in the wildcard games, so that gives me hope that they're in their heads right now. Go Crew!
