  1. A good friend of mine took the test and it just came back negative. It only took him a week to hear back because he isn't an important person.
  2. Credit card processing fees are about 3% so probably should be more than $1 depending on the bill.
  3. Here is my idea. Note I am not a doctor but ironically I am teaching 2 medical classes right now but that is for a different thread. Quarantine the at risk populations for a month. During that time, they still get paid by their employers. Everything else resumes with travel restrictions still in place. You know full well that some people will ignore this (because America) and they may get infected but hopefully it doesn't overwhelm hospitals. If it does, they made their own decision. If it doesn't look good near the end of that month (we should have tons more tests available by then hopefully), extend it. I think businesses would rather take a month hit with a few employees than what we are doing now. I shutter to think of the economic ramifications if this goes on for a long time. Yes I know that health>economy but there needs to be a balance as well. I am looking at the business I heavily am involved with personally. Normally I would be spending money like crazy right now getting ready for our big fall season. I have no idea what the heck life could be like then so I stopped spending altogether. I think the majority of people will end up getting this virus but we can protect the at risk populations instead of doing it the way we are doing it imo. There are going to be a lot of businesses that won't survive this way and people's lives with be ruined financially as well.
  4. I know this is fairly new but is anyone else concerned by the lack of a plan? It seems every day that there are new stricter regulations in some nearby state or at the national level. Wouldn't it make more sense to just make this very strict in the hopes of containing it sooner? Or am I just way off base on this? (very well could be the case)
  5. They just used their last bullet!! smh Could always go negative...
  6. Ha. I am actually concerned for my neighbor. She is an elderly lady that lives by herself(husband just passed). This entire situation just stinks. If you guys or that lady get short, shoot me a text and I can spare a few rolls.
  7. Almost 100% chance the Bucks get fined for this.
  8. It's interesting that the Packers have not contacted Bulaga about re-signing so you would have to assume he won't be brought back. Is the plan to bring back Veldheer and use a higher draft pick as the future? No idea what Veldheer would command for salary.
  9. No I wasn't making an apples-to-apples comparison to their deals, I was comparing their 2019 numbers. Bucky said "But last year the guy hit .285/.343/.505/.849 with 22HR and 75 RBI. The guy isn’t a dud, it’s not like he’s Jason Heyward." My point was that Heyward had a better 2019 than Braun which would probably surprise some people. They had similar but switched years. Heyward started out hot and faded badly in the second half. Braun started out slow and raked the second half of the season. Heyward just adds defensive value. No doubt who the better hitter is though True but the first game counts just as much as number 162 and defense matters.
  10. Holt would be your 4th outfielder. (.771 OPS in 2019) Like I had mentioned, Dom Smith from the Mets would have been picked up (was available this off season) and he is cheap for a while. Why wouldn't they have signed Holt if they signed Rendon? His contract is small and his versatility is excellent. He can play everywhere but pitcher and catcher. Right now we have two elite players signed for under market deals which is a nice advantage (Hader and Yelich). Moving forward, we will be losing that advantage which will make things more difficult.
  11. No I wasn't making an apples-to-apples comparison to their deals, I was comparing their 2019 numbers. Bucky said "But last year the guy hit .285/.343/.505/.849 with 22HR and 75 RBI. 12. That's pretty condescending but whatever. You wouldn't have a lot of starts from Ronny Rodriguez because you have Holt and Arcia. Gamel isn't a terrible 5th outfielder by any means. I realize people are pretty over the moon about the Yelich extension and I just happen to have a different view on team building. Yes, you are right there is no guarantee Rendon wanted to come here but we still spent 20 million on Sogard, Smoak, Gyorko and Garcia for 2020 that could have gone towards an elite player. We will see if DS strategy will work this season, I hope it does.
  13. Only if we didn't plan for it at the start of the off season. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, if you didn't sign Sogard, Smoak, and Gyorko that saves about 13 million. Trade for Dom Smith or cheap equivalent for 1st base. If payroll is still too high, you don't sign Garcia. Doing all of that saves about 20 million which would keep payroll well below last year. That amount of salary would be affordable within the payroll. It would give us a three year window to get a World Series done. If it doesn't work out in 2 years, you trade Yelich, Hader (which we are probably going to do anyway) and rebuild.
  14. We definitely need to him be close to what he was before his injury.
  15. Yep, the point of my post!
  16. Not entirely true. Athletes are taxed based on the state/s they play in during a given pay period. While half of Rendon's games will be played in tax jail California, the other half are elsewhere. Still would be less overall, no?
  17. While that is true, if he signed the same deal with Milwaukee he would receive more money as Wisconsin's taxes are lower than Californias. I guess the main point I was trying to make was that if we can "afford" a big contract like that, I would have preferred it to be handled differently.
  18. Avoid Good City Brewing. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had.
  19. Thank you for making this because I didn't really want to put this in the Yelich thread. It is easy to look at the off season afterwards and scrutinize. Not really my goal with this but just something to consider. Instead of signing Sogard, Gyroko, and Smoak (approximately 13 million total), we sign Rendon to the contract he agreed to with LA. We then trade for the very available Dom Smith from the Mets to play first base. The way the Rendon contract was setup (29 mill for 2020 and 27.5 mill for 2021), he makes less money in the first two years which would work well with our payroll obligations. The lineup would be: Cain- CF Yelich- LF Rendon- 3B Hiura- 2B Narvaez/Pina- C Garcia/Braun- RF Smith/Braun- 1B Urias/Holt- SS P Payroll would go up approximately 15 million for this season. Obviously this would make it unlikely we extend Yelich but man that lineup is awesome. If you are really concerned for payroll in 2020, you could also have not signed Garcia.
  20. Next two years stay in place salary wise. The 7-year, $190 million extension kicks in for 2022. It only bought out the option year. Very interesting. We must enjoy paying left fielders.
  21. Love Yelich the guy and player. While the full details of this have not come out yet, my immediate reaction was why do this if you are the Brewers? I was under the impression that we were generally maxed out for payroll this season. I have to assume that Yelich will get a very sizable salary increase this year. Personally I would rather have given the money to Rendon, Donaldson or even Arenado if we had this kind of flexibility. I am sure most will disagree with me on this.
  22. We have a Starting Rotation and a Lineup thread, might as well have a dedicated Bullpen one. Here are the guys that I think will make the team out of spring. Hader Claudio Suter Black Phelps Feyereisen Wahl Williams There doesn't seem to be a lot of guys in the running for some of these spots. I didn't include Yardley but wouldn't have a problem with him making the team. I am planning on Peralta making the rotation and Lauer in AAA for depth. I do enjoy the amount of times we could have a hitter face someone like Claudio or Suter and then someone like Black, Hader and Wahl. Correct me if I am wrong but Black, Williams and Feyereisen are all out of options? I apologize that I struggled to find that information.
  23. Poor Red Sox just can't catch a break.
