  1. " Gameday has sheets with 3 ER" Well thats just bad math.
  2. M"Hey, D I found a ball" D"Gve it here. I'm gonna throw that ball good" M"Yeah, you showed that ball." M "My favorite part was when you threw the ball" D" Yeah!"
  3. if you ever wanted to try with a big box store now might be the time. What with the awesome robustery of our economy! Saw something to this effect on some news channel too.
  4. stocker has been listed on the bench every game for sportsline
  5. You mean, This guy McClung gets taken deep.
  6. I think it should be noted that based upon the reading of his name it was all but predetermined Ellis, D.
  7. I think you nailed it. I basically decide `bigness` by the size and extent of the metro.
  8. alright...time for the game and time for me to avoid the interweb til i can watch on my dvr. Nobody look up my information online, call my cell phone, and yell the score at me. If you get my work# its ok though!!! Go Bush..you sir are the decider..operation Cubbi meltdown intact.
  9. aside from keeping or banning the DH I would change the DH rule during interleague play. If the intent is to create excitement then why not have the pitchers bat at the AL parks and DH at the NL parks?
  10. Well someone has to mention Mr. Baseball. That movie rocks...
  11. I think this should be a fun game. It really sucks that we have to eliminate the last 'story' but it is better than Gtown. Davidson/Curry...I wish I could root for them but I fear that Krabbenhoft would elbow me through screen.
  12. Super Happy Game Town!! Happy Game Time Fun Land!!
  13. I would really recommend what I did after college. I worked for 3 years in Japan as an English teacher on the JET Programme. The pay is very good, you dont pay taxes in either country, and I didnt pay rent. JET is basically the best of the English teaching programs in Asia because it is run by the Japanese Government. They do screen, you do have to interview in at the Embassy, and the paperwork takes a while but I would highly recommend it. If you would like more details let me know.
  14. Well queue up the mindless U-S-A chant! Apparently, the concept of opening day is limited to the actual first moment a game begins. Too bad we don't get to participate in opening day this year. What does it matter if Oak/Bos have 2 games in Japan? They will still have an opening day.
  15. I didn't expect team highlights, but I expected the scores. (I think sports coverage tends to be better WITH the scores.) But Japanese coverage of MLB games really included ONLY shots and descriptions of the Japanese player. Nothing else. Once Ohka was out of the game in the 6th inning, the game might as well have been sucked away in a vortex. Who cares who won. Ohka pitched today in America... Here he is. That's it. And it was the same for most of the Japanese players in the MLB. This isn't true. I apologize for being curt, but I haven't ever seen a highlight where they don't mention the score or flash it on the screen..and I've been here for Nomo-mania through now. T While I understand you have speant much more time there than I did, 3 years, I beg to differ. I watched loads of 'highlights' on BS 2 that would misremember to mention the score. Heck, they cut off a couple off live games in the 9th inning and switiched to the news or another game.
  16. Yeah cause it is ours and we are Americans! I mean it is not like the Tour de France ever started in London...... Opening day will still be opening day 2-3 games in Tokyo really change nothing. Fans in Oakland will still have time to drink the beers and get the botox done in parking lot for their first home game.
  17. I think the idea that we consider our champions, in every sport, World Champions is a bit arrogant. Reaching out to Japan is certainly a good idea. A series there doesnt take anything away from the feel of opening day here. This is somethig that should continue and possibly expand. In addition, the WBC has great potential and can only make the game stronger. I would also say Bobby Vs calls for a true championship needs strong consideration
  18. took it! Id actually be interested to here the results as Im a big fan of the mindless "Buy American" campaign. BTW...the question regarding what countries have ben to limits you to a bit of space
  19. Seems that birth location has been a major factor for most. For me, birth location determines where `home` is. In America I think the midwest is as good as it gets. I do like the style and quality of life. Although, I doenjoy my irrational stereotypes of the south and how horrible it is! Currently, I am live in the burbs of Minneapolis. No dout an area that routinely leads the rankings of best places to live. I dislike the burbs. They are what America has become. A souless place devoid of character. As I walk out of Box Store A the only dfference between here and Fort Collins, Omaha, or Shrevport is the colors on the starter jackets. Box store A another Box store X...all in the name of progress. Losing Jims Barber shop and "the butcher shop" has taken a sense of place and community from us. Alright, that was a bit much.... If I had to chose I think I would pick Scandanavia or S.Korea/Japan. Safety/low crime, quality education, access to whatever you choose....that being said I am from Wisconsin and it will always be my home and my America.
  20. My wife and I might up and go there this weekend or next. Does anyone have some good ideas on stuff to do?
  21. Really? Well we did beat out the likes of Bulgaria, Kosovo, and Madagascar in the world freedom of the press rankings. While those are not the be all, and end all, it does suggest something when we finish in the mid 40s. The quality of American reporting is pretty poor. If I want objective news I prefer the BBC.
  22. Just curious.....Where is it? Country...city...state...region? What are the factors that go into this? Is it simply a matter of birth location? Just wondering what people think
  23. Your ole man was right. It was you that was wrong.
