  1. Menards was an early, early adopter of a mask requirement, which is actually very surprising considering how late the retail industry took to adopt mask requirements and the fact that their direct competitors like Home Depot did not do so.
  2. Really? For the most part, I'm only hearing stories of districts here in WI that are now going virtual or extending their virtual plans. Are there any in the state that are going the other way? Ours hasn't changed anything. There have been single digit cases at the HS and MS but zero at all 3 elementary schools. Although the willingness to stay open seems to depend heavily on how red a county is. A nearby school (outside the county) closed for 3 days after multiple cases but I saw that and wondered what the heck does that do? 3 days? I think it's dangerous to base conclusions regarding the success/failures of schools reopening on one district for the reasons you noted. I think we're all holding on a bit to see what this looks like when it gets colder and windows can't be opened, etc., but it seems like a lot of the schools around my area at least have gone from in-person to virtual just in the few weeks since school started back up. I don't think that's a good trend going into October and beyond.

  4. There's also plenty of evidence pointing to the idea that the idea of "herd immunity" is a complete myth, and an attempt to achieve it would lead to millions of deaths. I mean, I can show you "evidence" that the earth is flat, too, but that doesn't mean you should believe it. Yep. 'Herd immunity' seems to be COVID-code for 'I need an excuse to not feel bad for doing what I want to the potential detriment of others.'
  5. I read an article last week that said it's not bars and parties but the fact that the 20-30ish group of people don't have the luxury of working from home that much of the older group of people do. I can see there being truth for both situations. It's almost certainly the former that's the issue in Wisconsin right now, as the spikes have largely taken place in college cities in September, for obvious reasons.
  6. This is so sad and accurate.
  7. I think we're all in that boat to some degree, though some on the internet/twitterverse faaaaaaaar more than others. It's hard to weed through the positive reports on the MVS and Gary-type players to determine what is just sports fluff and what may actually translate to on-field results. Obviously, Love will determine the 'success' of the 2020 Packer draft, but I said at the time that it was the type of draft that would either get Gute fired or make him look like a genius. Two games in, the latter has the lead out of the gate...
  8. They'd be sooooo dangerously good on defense if they just had a Ryan Pickett-type along the front. Dom's defense actually looked good when they had a Pickett/Raji combo up front. They need a guy to go with Clark to make this defense work.
  9. Cough... third season... cough. I think he's living off a LOT of goodwill from 2018, where he took over Dom's horrendous defense and gave it life. Then they spent a ton of money and draft capital for 2019, and they still looked average. He seemingly adjusts well and actually plans for his opponents, as opposed to Dom who seemed to 'trust his scheme' to a fault. But at some point, the results have to match the talent level. I know there's a talent issue on the line, but you have a rock-solid secondary and a really good LB corps, so the holes are very limited. This feels like yet another year where we're going to win in spite of the defense, rather than with help from it.
  10. I remember feeling confident that we would surprise the Pats(and we may have if not for an OL returning a kick to our ~5). Don't know that I thought Buffalo would be a threat at that time. We did beat the Pats in '14. You're thinking of '10. '14 was a great game too. That Pats game in '14 is in my personal top 2 football games attended in-person. Lambeau was absolutely electric.
  11. I wish I had looked at this thread closer before I posted a bunch of thoughts in yesterday's game thread this morning I think adam's thoughts are really spot-on though. I'm convinced they need more help along the d-line and hope they're working on that, but I know it's not the TT/Gute M.O. historically to plug a hole like that in-season. I really think the run defense might be the only thing that looks like a weakness at this point, pending the inevitable injuries that will hurt other areas. Still, about as good of a start to the season as anyone could have hoped for. Obviously, the team felt way higher about their existing personnel than us fans did, so far correctly so, which goes a long way to explain how the draft/offseason unfolded.
  12. As with last week, here are a few thoughts now that I've had a chance to process yesterday's game a bit: 1)Sternberger obviously needs to catch the ball. He clearly has an ability to get open and find space. If he can catch consistently, he'll become the player we wanted Jimmy Graham to be when we signed him a few years ago. 2)Jones, wow. It's going to be a brutal decision on him for Gute and co. as he hits free agency. It's not a good idea in this current NFL to invest much in a back longer-term, but he's clearly the best all-purpose back we've had since Ahman Green in his prime. 3)MVS continues to make strides. If MVS actually develops into a #2 this year, it makes the lack of attention to WR in the draft a non-issue. Obviously, he was a little banged around yesterday and needs to stay healthy. 4)What more can really be said about the offense? Looks like a fairly well-oiled machine, for which credit has to go to LaFleur and the offensive staff. They looked really rough last year, but a second year in the offensive system has clearly done the offense and Rodgers a world of good. 5)We're all rightly worried about the defense. I thought adjustments were really good yesterday, but when we face a coach that will actually just run the ball against our horrid front (like SF is smart enough to do), we won't be able to stop them. I think we all hoped that Lowry/Lancaster would bounce back, but they're really below-replacement level bodies at this point. I find it hard to believe that a guy like Montravious Adams could be worse in that role. If there's a year to fix a major problem before the trade deadline, I'd be scouring teams like Cleveland or whoever else isn't a legit contender to see if we can flip a second-day pick for a legit end. It really is disappointing that the defensive front has been so disappointing, considering that the secondary has been solid and the pass rush may be very good. I really think an investment along the line may pay big dividends, especially when Clark is back. 6)How good is this o-line? Guys rotating in and out without missing much of a beat. Rodgers wasn't hurried until the second half yesterday. Great pass protection, dominant run blocking. Patrick had a really rough series that cost the Packers a FG, but that and a weak holding call on Bak were the only major blemishes on the entire day. 7)Division wins are always a big deal, even if we don't really know how good or bad the competition may be. I'll pocket a road win vs. Minnesota and any win vs. the Lions every season. We'll really learn about how good this team is over the next few games vs. NO & Atlanta.
  13. How much goodwill does Dan Quinn have left in Atlanta?
  14. That’s incomprehensibly bad special teams play.
  15. Well then. Offense looks very very good.
  16. I mean, if you took away any team’s two best plays, how would the result look?
  17. Dak had a really good rookie year. Beyond that, he’s an overhyped Cowboy QB.
  18. To be fair, he did have the Lions defense burned there....
  19. That’s an astoundingly dumb play call on third and one vs. a Packer teams that can’t stop the run.
  20. Kudos to Gary for getting in Stafford’s face at the line.
  21. Rough series for Patrick. A hold and a whiff block on third down basically costs the team three points.
  22. The Lions' M.O. for the past 10-15 years has been a very talented, poorly coached, undisciplined team that wins less than the talent suggests they should on paper. That's bad coaching, and bad management hiring bad coaching.
  23. I actually think that offsides was a blessing rather than a curse. With that wind, I think the higher percentage play might actually have been the hail mary....
  24. That feels like stealing a TD. Great stuff.
