  1. I really wanted Allen Robinson when we was a free agent a couple of years ago....
  2. Projections projections projections! I think this is what irritates me so much about every cheap signing the Brewers make. People will say well he projects to be the same as so and so. Except to this point in their careers they haven't produced like player so and so has. Projections aren't worth the paper they are printed on. You know what matters?? PRODUCTION. Until you prove you are as good as so and so, projections mean crap. Avisail Garcia career: .273/.323/.428/.751, .322 wOBA, 103 wRC+ (park adjusted) Mike Moustakas career: .252/.310/.441/.751, .321 wOBA, 99 wRC+ (park adjusted) Avisail Garcia 2017-2019: .288/.337/.473/.810, .342 wOBA, 117 wRC+ Mike Moustakas 2017-2019: .259/.319/.498/.817, .340 wOBA, 110 wRC+ Garcia will turn 28 next season, Moustakas will turn 32 You and your facts! Thanks for posting.
  3. Again, he projects about as good offensively as Moose. Was he a bottom of the barrel player in your mind too? Projections projections projections! I think this is what irritates me so much about every cheap signing the Brewers make. People will say well he projects to be the same as so and so. Except to this point in their careers they haven't produced like player so and so has. Projections aren't worth the paper they are printed on. You know what matters?? PRODUCTION. Until you prove you are as good as so and so, projections mean crap. Have you actually looked at Garcia’s numbers? Your posts continue to suggest that you haven’t. Garcia’s 2017 season was better than ANY season Moose has put up in his entire career. But you’ve heard of one player and not the other?
  4. Bingo. I’m going to bet we hear about some sort of medical development/issue by or in spring training.
  5. It's either that or the opposite view: Every move Stearns makes is stupid. Not much middle ground here, and certain posters provide the extreme for both sides... The good news is that Stearns’ track record of success suggests which side of that is probably right!

  7. Two words Name Recognition LOL Avasail Garcia is a "name" just not an all star...Moose was, in case you forgot When Avasail hits as many HR's in a year as Moose does, let me know Garcia was an All-Star too, at age 26. And Moose hit his HR’s in a hitters park, Garcia has yet to play for a team in a hitters park. And HRs alone don’t measure the full worth of a player, of course.
  8. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln..... It’s also really interesting that depending on the week, this fan base alternates between calling this o-line ‘massively overrated’ and ‘one of the best pass blocking lines in the league.’ I know many have criticized the line often but I've normally been in the camp that they're actually quite underrated, at least by our own fans. I think that partly stems from just being a position that isn't noticed unless things go wrong. That is probably a very fair theory.
  9. Did you forget to use blue font? Because it should be. I’m betting he’s serious, and he probably should be. This team is far better than the fan base seems to think it is, for some reason.

  11. You were angry they didn’t resign Moose, but Garcia projects to have similar numbers as him. One can’t be a huge loss while the other is a ‘not a needle mover’ addition.....
  12. No, he's a fan pitching target: recognizable name who WAS good but probably won't be going forward.
  13. I think this is skewed a bit by his younger seasons, where he had two that were -1.8-ish dWAR seasons. His more recent seasons have been much closer to average, and even those are skewed because TB had him play a bunch of CF last year, where he grades out poorly. Well, he played 12 games and 94 innings of CF last year, compared to 775 innings of RF. I don't think (going on numbers alone) that the guy is Domingo Santana bad, but the numbers (even the last few years) suggest he's still somewhat below average. Whoops, I was a line off and saw the 24 right above that. Even so, I think he graded out as and average defender, which makes sense considering his age and expected physical peak at this point.
  14. I don't see it with the Yankees. The Mets, OTOH, have players I like. Honestly clancy, I agree completely. I think the Mets and Brewers match up very well, even if it's just a smaller, non-Hader deal.

  16. 1 word-defense I understand that, but the Twitter trolls seem to think that Garcia's defense is bad as well. They're mostly wrong. Garcia is average-ish defensively, while Santana is horrible. Like, erase all of your offensive value horrible.
  17. Fortunate, or did our front office correctly identify a candidate to outpitch their "pedigree" due to some analytical/mechanical/technical change they were able to implement? Why, when the Brewers have an astoundingly good track record of doing so, do we continue to assume these things are flukey? And why can't a guy like Anderson be a pitcher they've similarly identified as a candidate to be the second coming of Wade Miley due to something they've found as well? When it repeatedly happens over and over, maybe it isn't actually a fluke...
  18. Brewers/Yankees 'continue to talk' per Heyman: He says the Yanks 'have the players' to do a deal, but I personally am less sure....
  19. The Brewers are better at this than we are, and have more than earned the benefit of the doubt. People bemoan a signing like Anderson, possibly because they've never heard of the guy before yesterday, but don't acknowledge that he had a great season in 2019 and could well be an anchor in the rotation. People fall in love with names, but in reality, this contract is no more of a 'flyer' than the gamble a team like Washington is taking on Strasburg not imploding in his mid-late 30s and being on the hook for a crippling amount of money. In reality, this is why the Brewers are better off giving themselves 6-8 viable starting options, so that IF a guy like Anderson or whomever don't work out, they can move on quickly to another alternate option rather than putting all their eggs in one potentially franchise-crippling basket.
  20. This is fair. His OPS+ does suggest a potential boost from going to Miller Park, however. I think it's interesting to not that his 2019 stat line basically replicates or slightly Moustakas's career norms. They might be able to replace Moustakas's bat this way and still have the potential to upgrade at 3B.
  21. Why does a rotation need to be filled, in order, from top to bottom? The Brewers lacked a 3 yesterday morning, and they went out and got a guy that performed like one last year for a very affordable rate. Check. Doesn't exclude them from pursuing additional SP help.
  22. I guess things can change, but Counsell has said that Braun won't be the everyday 1B un 2020. It's possible Counsell doesn't know the final makeup of the roster It's also possible that Braun WON'T be an everyday player in 2020...
  23. The only team I'm not sure about on this is the Astros, but I think this is a pretty good deal overall.
  24. Locking in favor of the rumors forum thread, until we have something to back this up. viewtopic.php?f=66&t=39273
  25. Absolutely love this signing, if legit. You'd assume Braun was basically guaranteed to be the 1B, I'd think....
