  1. I'd argue that Bo didn't want to deal with Tim Maymon, just as much as any academic red flag. That was pretty well known as well. Quite possible. I have co-workers with kids at Memorial, and they certainly have opinions on Tim Maymon.
  2. So what was the point of quitting? To just let everyone know he's a tool? As Al said, it may not be a coincidence that the timing of this is at the semester. He may be quitting because he might have already known he wouldn't be able to play in the 2nd semester going forward anyway.
  3. nice to see you pick taht up when i say something like that, but i see about 50 other things similar and not one thing is said, thanks Point me in their direction, and I'll say something to them too. Doesn't make what you posted any less against the rules. And your response doesn't endear you to anyone either....
  4. Must not be, because your reading comprehension isn't any good. Completely inappropriate. are king $h*# Also against the rules here.
  5. I agree- Johnson has been one of my guys to target for a couple of years now, and I'd think he'd be a great asset for the Brewers if they could fit him in the budget. That said, I don't think the Brewers would be able to offer him enough guaranteed playing time right now to get him to choose Milwaukee over other teams that have a big need at 2B.
  6. I think Lazar Hayward might have been the best player on the floor Absolutely. It's a shame that his last year is probably going to be lost to some degree in a rebuilding year for the program.
  7. I'm glad they finally made the realization yesterday that you can indeed send the plows back out a couple of days after the storm to clear some of the loose stuff off the roads.
  8. Marquette's height disadvantage compared to the Badgers was noticeable visually tonight.
  9. Mayor Dave has issued a public apology for the condition of the roads in the city: http://host.madison.com/wsj/weather/article_d51699fe-5392-56dd-9996-9267a3e82db1.html
  10. I want to leave this embarrassment of a town soon....why the locals praise Madison is beyond me... Because it's great in all aspects except for snow removal. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Madison should be completely embarrassed over the state of the roads right now. I was out and about a bit tonight, and yes, some of the roads are packed with snow, but some of them are covered with loose snow and slush due to the sun melting some of the snow the last few days. Why in the world haven't they taken the time to run a plow to get the loose stuff off? And it's not like I'm talking side streets here, I was on major roads tonight like Mineral Point and Gammon. Completely ridiculous.
  12. That 2008 couldn't possibly be related to a season where he went through a lot of injury problems that season. Let's throw out that little fact and keep acting like he isn't a very solid pitcher/overvalue a mediocre prospect. Awfully condescending....
  13. Thanks logan and Russ, exactly what I was looking for. I guess the Brewers should have some additional certainty in the next week or two, as that 6th replacement level starter might actually be Bush or Suppan depending both on who gets signed and whether Bush gets tendered or not.
  14. The NL average starting pitcher ERA last year was 4.32. It wouldn't be a bad rotation (worlds better than last year's) but still below average. Below average compared to all starters, but how would it compare to other starting rotations? I'd be fairly surprised if a majority of teams actually had a sub 4.6 ERA from their rotations. But certainly possible, I guess.
  15. And even with a Doug Davis, the starting rotation is below average. Really? I'd like to see evidence to prove that.
  16. So, I realize that this game is at UW-GB and that they are a decent team. However, the line has Wisconsin only favored by 4? That seems pretty low. Were they factoring in that they might have to forfeit due to traveling in the weather or something? I agree that's way low.
  17. they don't really need Coffey all that much either. On the other hand, it's true they don't need a 3B, but Lowell's still good enough that he's useful as a part time player and righthanded PH. Their bench currently is all lefthanded. Coffey's not going to be unused due to Hawkins' signing, so he's still more useful to the Brewers than Lowell is as a RH bench player.
  18. Wow, that signing was sure out of the blue. And looks like 1 year, 7.5 million is the going rate for pitchers with serious injury issues and good upside.
  19. I think was more true when the Brewers stunk. I'd agree with you if Wolf's agent wasn't reportedly walking around the Meetings yesterday practically begging another team to match the Brewers' offer. Coupled with Ray Rice's comments about the state this week, I think there's a serious perception problem with athletes and a resulting reluctance to come here unless they're blown away. I'd rather get a 4.0 ERA/60 IP reliever for $1.5 mil and be done with it, personally. I agree. But who exactly is that reliever?
  20. That, and if someone else is offering 21k for the 20k car and it is the only one available and you want it, you have to pay more than the other guy to get it. Indeed. It's fine to look at things in a vacuum and say 'x amount of production is worth y dollars', but there are outside factors in a free market that need to be taken into account as well.
  21. Anyone can go into a car dealer and buy a $20k car for $22k. Melvin needed to get a $25k car for $22k. Being GM in Milwaukee often requires one to pay $22k for the $20k car, though. That's a factor you haven't acknowledged in your analysis to this point.
  22. Nice addition pending the financial terms. Now Counsell, kick the tires on a couple lefty relievers, and either another solid starter or 2-3 'project' guys and I'm pretty happy.
  23. There is no room for another reliever so I don't know where that is coming from. From Haudricourt's blog: I've also been told that if the Brewers get Wolf, instead of immediately going after another starting pitcher, they'll try to sign an established late-inning reliever to provide set-up help for closer Trevor Hoffman along with Todd Coffey and Claudio Vargas, who is about to re-sign. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/78865647.html And they're reportedly very close to signing Latroy Hawkins. If you bring in Smoltz on a one year deal this would be great. I agree- Smoltz as the 2nd pitcher would be great.
  24. Obviously, but they just used most of their budget for improvements on this move. Probably true, but with all the reported interest in Hart, I'd be almost shocked if another pitcher isn't acquired in some sort of trade eventually.
  25. The deal probably won't end up as bad as Suppan's but the Brewers needed to do more. It's not like the off season ends today.
