  1. There is such a double standard in place with player moves, Hall and Hardy were run out of town on a rail, and Suppan gets chance after chance even though he is completely brutal. This tells me that he is a 'favorite' of someone, likely Mark A. I agree with this completely, and think that's a great reason for why Mark may have more influence on the situation than some people believe.
  2. Give me specific examples of what he's done outside of donate $100,000 per year to the club charities. Didn't he buy like 2-4 premier seats for each home game a few years back and donate them to members of the Armed Forces? And, seriously? You're going to choose to criticize Suppan on charitable involvement?
  3. Just think if Melvin would have succeed in bringing Dave Roberts here that same winter for $25-$30 million? That number is way off- I believe the offer was 15-18 million or so. But your point about their interest is still valid.
  4. I completely agree, there has not been one shred of evidence that Attanasio is calling the shots. By all accounts, the firing of Yost wasn't done by Melvin's choice, IIRC.
  5. Aren't we in a stretch of 13-straight game days, too? Take the free rest any time you can get it in those stretches.
  6. The NCAA is reportedly coming to their senses on tourney expansion and looking strongly at a 68 team field, which I assume would mean 4 play-in games for the 16 seeds.
  7. Has anybody actually eaten there yet? How is the food?
  8. Hawkins needs a bit of a confidence builder after being horrible the past couple of times out, I'd think.
  9. No good can come of this thread from this point, I think.
  10. This guy has got to have a very short leash. And if Prince doesn't start hitting in the next 10 days, should he be in danger of losing playing time at first to Gamel when he comes back?
  11. What kind of garbage was that running oldy Hawkins out there a day after he went 40 pitches? I wouldn't do that with a reliever in his 20s, let alone a guy pushing 40. Hawkins pitched two days after throwing forty pitches.
  12. Rock: "Great play by Jeff Zaun, made possible by a great throw by Carlos Gonzalez." Guh.
  13. I was called out for call his brain the size of a Koala's and I still contend that he will never be a good big league pitcher. But two separate points there, right?
  14. My goodness, we're not even through the 2nd week of the season.
  15. If every move Melvin made turned to Gold he wouldn't be a GM. Or at least he wouldn't be the GM of the Brewers.
  16. Peavy, are you telling me that this staff is good? I'm telling you that it's entirely too early for you or me to tell.
  17. He should get fired for having the worst pitching staff in the league 2 years in a row. My, that season went by quickly. Here a few days ago people were calling for Hawkins to close. Maybe that's a sign it's a good idea to play more than 10 games before panic sets in.
  18. There were some crazy good opportunities out there. My port is up 158% since July 08!
  19. 11,000 today!
  20. Morgan didn't seem to understand that size of market is actually a quantifiable thing. He seemed to want to make the point that you were only a small market when you didn't want to sign your players.
  21. He hasn't been able to throw his change up for strikes. How can you tell? He mystifyingly only threw one last night. They're not even trying for some reason.
  22. Or are hitters adjusting to the fact that his fastball isn't what it used to be and are now sitting on one pitch? But tonight both HR's were off fastballs, which is very puzzling. I honestly don't think he threw 3 changeups in the 9th tonight.
  23. Fantastic play, thanks for posting.
