Beloit wins as well, 9-5. I was in attendence at the game, and hope to put up a recap tomorrow. Early notes: Montalbo looked terrible in the short while that he pitched. The Beloit grounds crew moves like molasses. The game was halted by a somewhat heavy yet relatively brief downpour in the top of the first (lasted 5-10 mins). By the time the grounds crew got the tarp on the field, the rain was over and the sun was out. After the short rain downpour, the grounds crew proceeded to tend to the infield, and the game resumed after a 1 hour and 45 minute delay!!!!! that's right, the 10 minutes of rain was followed by nearly an hour!!! of raking diamond dry into a relatively non-wet infield, followed by 30 minutes of line re-painting, then 15 minutes of warmups. Color me and a bunch of the fans less than thrilled with the scenario. Sorry for the mini-rant, but does anyone know if it takes that long in other minor league parks? More to come tomorrow...
