  1. If Bennett doesn't walk those two hitters and force Adams into the game without much time to warm up, those runs don't score. Even if we assume Adams got all the time in the world to warm up, he would not have given up any runs had the inherited runners not been part of the equation. Come on man, you can't tell me you re-read that without thinking that it was showing at least a little favoritism to Adams... Like I said, Bennett walked two guys, and it was Adams who allowed them to score. Bennett didn't pitch well, but Adams sure didn't get his job done either. For the record, I didn't see the game, but was listening at work. Myself and all of my co-workers were completely in agreement with the way Yost handled the pen and made his in game moves (Grieve hit for Bennett, etc). The execution was poor and the result wasn't a win, but Yost did set his guys up to succeed.... they just didn't do the job themselves.
  2. Not his best, but not bad for Adams. The hit batsman was really the only mistake, as the two base hits came on a grounder and a little blooper. He had some issues controlling his slider, but he got out of it. Come on now, you're letting your favoritism of Adams cloud your view. Who was it that gets the blown save? Who gave up the 2 hits to allow the 2 runs to score? It wasn't Jeff Bennett. To say that Bennett is the goat while Adams was 'not bad' is pretty untrue.
  3. Alright then, I want you to tell me right now which pitcher we passed will be a 2/3 within 2 years in the majors. Put your money where your mouth is. I think I asked that about 36 hours and a page worth of posts ago, and am still waiting for a response....
  4. First off, those of you who were unhappy with tonight's lineup are free to go back and delete those posts if you wish. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif A few more thoughts: There were a lot of people thinking that there would be a sweep in this series, since the Brewers are facing one of the best teams in MLB... who could have imagined that it'll be the Brewers going for the sweep tomorrow? Also, is it fair for me to name Mike Maddux the MVP of the first third of the season? Seriously, Mike has done an unbelievable job with this staff, though a bit of of the credit probably does belong with Bennett and Moeller as well. If you'd have told me before the season that our rotation at this point would be Sheets/Davis/Santos/Obermuller/Wise, I'd have mailed in the season from the get go.
  5. Our management blew it big time. If they took the best college pitcher available, maybe we can have him throwing with Ben in the latter half of next year. I'd like to thank Mark Prior for creating unrealistic expectations for all other college pitchers. If you were expecting a guy like Sowers to be ready by mid-next season, you would have been extremely disappointed. Heck, even Ben Sheets spent 2 years in the minors. I am simply astounded at the number of people that would rather take a college pitcher at all costs rather than the best player available. Its odd that those who wanted a college pitcher all say that Rogers will get hurt and the pick will be wasted, but then say that a college guy would be able to help within the next couple of years, as if the college guys are magically able to avoid injuries. What if we had taken Sowers and he got hurt/became Kyle Peterson II and someone else took Rogers and he became a solid MLB pitcher? The bottom line is that we won't know anything about this draft's success for AT LEAST 2 more years. What happens if Rogers becomes the next Grienke and makes it to the majors in like 2 years?
  6. If somehow we manage to make it through the 14th, will Moeller lead off or is Ned saving Hall in case Counsell retires before the game is over? Going through the game thread slowly here, and I must say that Rydogg wins the award for the funniest post of the night. Unfortunately for me all I have is colbyjack on wheat, which would leave me feeling a little funny. And at 1:46 Am, I found this quite funny as well...
  7. I've got to go through a 16 page game thread? Boo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  8. This is the standard mojo on this board. If you say 'disaster' then, of course, all the thinkers here can find thousands of reasons you are an idiot, or strange, or whatever. Good grief... I didn't call him strange, I called the fact that he called the draft a disaster after one day odd, and if you had read the rest of my post, you'd have seen why: Like Socal said, grading this draft the day it happened is pretty pointless, because we'll have no idea of the draft's success for a couple of years. Heck, in 2002, everyone wanted Jack Z's head for drafting Prince, but I'd say that that pick worked out pretty well, wouldn't you? THAT'S why I think that it's odd to call our first two picks a disaster without them throwing even an inning of pro ball. For those that are unhappy with the Rogers pick because he was a HS pitcher, which college guy would you have taken instead?
  9. Disaster. Sorry, but I find this pretty odd.... How about we actually let the guys throw an inning of pro ball before we say that we threw away our top two picks? Is that REALLY too much to ask?
  10. We've hit a new high on the boards with 105 users (49 members, 56 guests). The previous high was 89 on draft day last year.
  11. And it locked up again.... grrr..
  12. I'm back in for now....
  13. So did the chat room crash for anyone else?
  14. Why was Moeller allowed to hit? Can either Spivey or Grieve catch? Gary Bennett is hurt.
  15. Argh. Not much more to say...... maybe its time for Ned to start chewing some butts out. Schroeder's right.... time to wake up guys.
  16. Woohoo! Two misplayed bunts in the same inning! How was the first bunt misplayed? Maybe Davis' throw on the 2nd shows why he didn't want to throw it on the 1st one http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Well, I guess Doug has been so spectacularly good lately that he's due for a stinker... Oh, and thanks Mark loretta for making a stupid out.... you of all people should know how well Jenkins can throw.
  17. I especially want to see Scott Podsednik get going. Jeff Weaver's pitches have a lot of movement. The Brewers should just let themselves get hit on those funky inside pitches. We could have had two more baserunners already. First off, kudos to AJAY for some accurate hopes/predictions on the game. I had the pleasure of listening to this game via radio while at work... man do I love these 9:05 starts, as I can listen to the whole game and it makes the end of the shift go really fast. Now a few comments: Terry Crafts decision making in this game was shockingly odd. So in Crafts' mind, Davis intentionally hit Shawn Green in the 3rd, with runners already on 1st and 2nd, to load the bases for Adrian Beltre and thus prompts both benches to be warned, but with 2 out and no one one, Weaver obviously WASN'T throwing at the guy who had reached base 3 times previously and had hit a leadoff homerun to account for the only run in the game thus far.... so obviously that wasn't retalliation and didn't warrant ejection after the benches were warned.... like Jim Powell said, now Crafts is apparently reading the players' minds. I missed the Bradley ordeal as it happened, but returned to the radio to hear Uecker say something to the effect of 'after that display, I wouldn't be surprized if his team had him miss a few more games.' I have yet to see video of it, so does anyone have any idea what he said to Crafts to get ejected (or what it was that he was upset about in the first place)? I'd think that if Brian has video of this, it might be deserving of any Alcantara-like posting on the media part of the site at some point... And for the record, Jim and Bob were confused a bit by the double switch as well, so it wasn't just a TV thing...
  18. And I'm sure glad we gave him that gigantic contract extension to 'keep the fans happy'.
  19. Hoffman's all over the place and Jenks swings at the 1st pitch and fouls out to the catcher... time to sit his butt on the bench for a game or two.
  20. why take the chance that Kieschnick will have to be pulled and not get his AB? I'm 99% sure that Keish never hits first, then pitches (at least so far this year). Usually he pitches then hits, or just hits.... which makes sense, because he needs time to warm up. I could be mistaken, but that's how I remember him being handled so far...
  21. Wow... this thread is moderately depressing. Parra and Liriano with bad starts, Housman couldn't have been much better....
  22. Nice job by Pods perfectly hitting him with the cutoff throw for the play at third, too. .... After horribly botching the play to let the ball get to the wall in the first place....
  23. "Brooks has faced 3 batters, they've all reached, and there's two outs." Kudos to Schroeder for pretty much summing up why we're winning....
  24. so how many starts does wes have to mess up before we see hendrickson? Well, Hendrickson's performance yesterday didn't really help his case for a call up. I think we've got enough off days coming up here that we'll only need the 5th starter once or twice over the course of the next three weeks, so it looks like Hendrickson is in Indy until at least late June. Wes will probably be designated for Kinney-like duty out of the pen during that time, unless we decide to option him down to Indy for a while, which is definitely what I would do.
