  1. Finished season 1 of The Wire over the weekend. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks to those that suggested it- I've heard very good things over the years from a lot of people, but glad I finally dove in. Very excited for S2.
  2. Seeing some vague reports that the Packers are showing 'initial interest' in Watt, so there's that.
  3. Yep. As bad a second half as the first was good.
  4. Odd, borderline lazy reporting by Herman. If you assume a moderate decrease in the cap and factor in the Packers' adjustments, they're about $20 million over the cap AFTER Bakh's restructuring yesterday. Restructuring Rodgers and extending Adams ALONE would free up $23 million, getting them below the cap. The four cuts he notes would free up an additional $21.25 million, putting the Packers at $24.25 BELOW the cap. Stating that that would just be the "STARTING POINT to get under the cap" is literally factually incorrect.
  5. I'd have zero issues with the FO picking the pitcher on that list that they like the best and signing them to a reasonable deal.
  6. Um, wow. That's a nice half of basketball...
  7. You realize that this FO has signed more free agents in 3 years than the previous FO did in like 15, right? Sorry for not being more specific. When said FA like Watt, I meant All-Pro types who are in their 30s. Charles Woodsoon being the exception I suppose. You literally said "If any FA ever." And Woodson was signed by a different front office.
  8. I think this is a really good point. Though not who he was 5-ish years ago, Watt graded out very high this year.
  9. Peppers is probably a really good comparison. In the end, he was a really nice signing for Green Bay.
  10. Williams is an interesting one...
  11. An easy way to free up over $3m in cap space as well.....
  12. You realize that this FO has signed more free agents in 3 years than the previous FO did in like 15, right?
  13. You may not be wrong, but I'd hope that they'd think that Watt is a massive upgrade vs. the stiffs they've put out there at DE. Lowry/Lancaster are the definition of replaceable parts.
  14. Um, wow. That allows him to come to GB without giving up anything, and also allows them to literally dictate the terms of his contract, so it could be SUUUUUUUUPER backloaded.
  15. It really would be the most Bears thing ever to have some of the best QBs in the game moving around at an unprecedented level and ending up resigning Trubisky or trading for Wentz, so that's what I'm rooting for..... Also, Pettine signed on with the Bears as 'Senior Defensive' somethingorother. Can't wait to see Mack covering Adams on some plays!
  16. Purely my own speculation, but I believe that if the Dodgers truly wanted him, he'd be a Dodger by now.
  17. People do seem to forget that Lohse was a pretty good pickup for the first two years of that deal. The problem is that we all mostly remember the HORRENDOUS final season....
  18. It was 12 at that point, I believe.
  19. It really seems like it's a two-team contest for Turner. He likely wants to go back to LA if all else is equal or close to it, but I'd bet that they're not in the ballpark with their offer right now, and Milwaukee is offering more years. In the end, I think he'll end up having to choose a far inferior deal to stay in LA because he wants to, otherwise I think he signs with Milwaukee.
  20. Washington was a wildcard team in 2019 that was a a few outs away from being out of the playoffs completely, and THEY knocked off LA. Games are won on the field in October, not on paper in February.
  21. I think this is it. I think it actually plays to Milwaukee's favor, as LA really has no need to do so. The Dodgers are smartly run, and the smart play for them is to go with a guy like Rios rather than paying gobs of money to Turner.
  22. I haven't looked deeper to see how Davis would project as a 1B, but I believe he'd project to be an absolute disaster as a 3B if expected to play there...
  23. I don't think any of that is unreasonable either. But in the end, it's not like the FO has indicated in any way that they don't know what they're doing....
  24. Seconded. Aaron Rodgers is a great player. He is not bigger or more important than the Green Bay Packers. When he retires in a few years, the Packers will still be a team. Hopefully they are a team that is in good shape to compete. I'd love to see then go all in to get the TEAM a Super Bowl. If Rodgers is the QB, great. But they certainly don't owe him the personnel moves he wants. Thirded. The Packers actually did that with the last HOF QB during the Mike Sherman era, and those teams were LESS successful since they never made it past the 2nd round.
  25. Oh, I think it'd have to be entirely dependent on him needing a rebound-type deal. If he's looking to cash in on who he used to be, that's a non-starter for a team like Green Bay, I'd think.
