  1. Probably the Turner camp's way of telling the Dodgers "OK guys, this is your last chance." I think the Dodgers are probably his preference, but he'll end up going where there is more security. This is his last big contract, so he's gotta make the most of it. I think this is possible if not probable. Turner's camp has every reason to float interest to get the Dodgers to play ball. My bet continues to be that he's got a 2-year deal from LA and a 3-year deal from the Brewers/someone else for similar AAVs, and he's trying to either get the Dodgers to add the 3rd year as well or up their AAV.
  2. Based on what, your own opinion?
  3. Have to agree. Adding Turners bat, getting Cain back, and just having Yelich, Hiura, and Narvaez revert back closer to their norms makes the offensive outlook much brighter to me.
  4. Turner has only played less than 115 once in the last five non-COVID seasons. I think 120-130 is possible, if not realistic.
  5. Brewers expected to 'release' him to facilitate the transaction, and the Brewers will receive some sort of comp for doing so.
  6. I think that just like with Cain, the thing that gets him to sign with us is an extra year. Considering his age and presumed cost, that's a huge deal to a team like the Brewers, but it's probably the potential differentiator.
  7. Isn't Chryst only like 55, though?
  8. As most of us here can painfully attest, be very wary of random people online that claim to have inside info, as it's completely unverifiable and usually 100% garbage.
  9. There have been rumors that the Shaw/Milwaukee breakup wasn't particularly amicable. Not sure if there's any legitimacy to that or whether it's just assumptions, though. Travis did respond to a tweet last month about being open to it: Good to hear- thanks for sharing.
  10. Links are always helpful/encouraged! https://www.brewcrewball.com/2021/2/4/22264134/milwaukee-brewers-free-agent-target-mike-foltynewicz Article doesn't mention the Brewers as attending the workout, just a potential target. Thanks- I think that's an important distinction, as that article reads more like a 'the Brewers should pursue Folty' opinion piece rather than confirmation they actually are. And I have no idea who Al's Cheesy Beef is, but you are correct that that twitter account notes Brewer interest. Doesn't seem anything close to reliable, though?

  12. I think this is all fair, and I tend to agree with your last sentence. It seems like this signing is a precursor to something else, and if it is, it's a pretty big something else, just IMO. But, the alternative is that they're fine with the flexibility/versatility that they have as indicated in your comments as well. It really seems like it has to be one or the other- they're focused on building a super flexible IF/lineup using lots of players who can play a bunch of places, or they're going to move a some of the current pieces to give us clarity. Probably nothing in the middle of those two options.

  14. Though I hear your point and likely agree with it in the long run, doesn't it actually have the opposite effect for 2021? Rather than focusing on his hitting, he's now required to not just try to hone the intricacies of a new position, but also really to develop an understanding of the basics. I'd think that most of his focus in spring training and early in the season will be devoted to that, which probably doesn't have the positive offensive effect you note.
  15. If the goal is a vet who you know is going to miss a modest time each year with injuries but will give you quality outings when he can go, Paxton is probably the most ideal. He'll also potentially cost the most, so there's that. Hill or Anderson would be cheaper, with Anderson probably the most cost-effective. It IS remarkable how good Hill has been despite his age....
  16. It really does make you wonder if that's the current thought process of the FO- we know there are issues with the offense, but if you can focus on only needing 3-4 runs each night, you won't NEED to score 5-7. Makes sense, really.
  17. The problem seems to be that some seem to think they’re at a Walmart when they’re actually in Target. Which is the case here, at a minimum.
  18. It's easy to forget that the 2018 team was really good defensively, which may have been the reason they made guys like Miley and Chacin look so good. Doesn't seem like the worst strategy to try and recreate that to some effect.
  19. Didn't think the correct answer just a few months later could end up being 2B.... on a different team.
  20. Would love it but I think the Mets value McNeil super high. I would do Hader, Hiura, and they could pick 2 of any our prospects for Smith and McNeil. The trade value site (I know, I'm a skeptic too) says Hader/Hiura/Turang is almost equal value to Smith/McNeil, and I'd do that trade today. Solidifies both corners and fixes the offense.
  21. Hader/Hiura to the Mets for Smith/McNeil?
  22. I'm there too. I really can't reconcile in my mind the idea that they're going to use a potentially brutal defensive combo of Vogelbach/Hiura as their 1B.
  23. It doesn't solve the 3B issue, unless the Brewers are legitimately fine with a Robertson/Urias combo there, but Cron would seem to be a really nice add based on where things stand now.
  24. If someone can verify, hasn't a lot of the concern regarding Hiura's defense been related to his arm? If so, that's obviously lessened considerably as a 1B. Presumably, range ability as a 2B is also boosted by playing first?
  25. I follow your logic 100% and think you may be right, but don't we also have a big question mark if we keep Hiura and assume he can play first as well?
