  1. 21.6 if he's traded. Indeed. One of the odd contracts where cut/trade don't mirror each other. My mistake for not checking both...
  2. Basically where I'm at as well.... Good for her, I hope she does well in whatever this role entails.
  3. Exactly. Nope. But I haven't made a single comment implying that I think she will or won't be, have I?
  4. I didn't realize until now that trading Watson puts a $67million dead cap number on the Texans. Absolutely insane. That said, does Chicago really have the ammo to acquire a guy like Watson at this point? Seems like someone else would easily be able to beat out a late-ish first rounder over the next couple of years.
  5. Many people are also likely suggesting she only earned the position because she's a woman, so that seems to cut both ways, absent facts.
  6. I mean, cool and all, but how is this “well deserved”? Is there any evidence to point to saying it's not? I think the subsequent discussion does suggest I re-phrase this question. If the initial poster was actually asking what about the hire makes Swing and a Drive think it's overdue, that's a very reasonable question to ask. Beyond that, does anyone have any fact-based evidence regarding Sarah Goodrum's body of work that provides an actual indication that she won't be good in the role? Thus far, it seems that the concerns are largely driven on assumptions, not facts, based on her age and lack of playing history, while evidencing that most of us don't even know what the roll really entails.
  7. I thought that modern baseball had moved past the 'had to play the game' requirement to be a talent evaluator/instructor. Considering both the age, lack of a baseball career, and relative success of our President of Baseball Operations, I'd have doubly thought that we had moved past that. I'm concerned that the narrative here seems to be trending towards 'they hired a woman to hire a woman', and I'd say that's a dangerous narrative.

  9. From a Rams perspective, it really is a window-shortener trade, though. Obviously quite better immediately, and you make this deal if you feel you're a QB away. Otherwise, unless I'm mistaken, they only have their 2nd, 6th, and 7th round picks in this year's draft, though they're expected to pick up a 3rd and 4th in comp picks, I believe. After the Stafford trade, they're about $35million OVER a $176m cap, and still over a $196 cap as well. Add in moving away your next two firsts, and you're really banking on the next year or two being the year to play in a SB.
  10. I think it's a near-perfect deal for Detroit for the reasons I noted, though I'm sure they'd have preferred a first this year if they could have received it. Still, extra third this year, a young QB that you plug in now to try to mesh with and develop, then a bunch of extra ammo to try and restock over the next few years.
  11. I'd have wanted more for 2021. A third now is fine for a team like Detroit that won't compete in 2021, but the Packers could/should want something more for this year, I'd think. If it was a first this year, a first, next year, and a third somewhere in one of those two years, I'd think they'd have to at least listen. EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm aware that the Rams don't actually HAVE a first this year, which means I think the Pack wouldn't match up well with them. But, in a vacuum, two firsts, a third, and a projectable young QB would have to make the Packers think about it if it was offered, especially if it was offered a year from now.
  12. The Brewers made a significant trade last year and signed like 8 free agents.... you can disagree with what they did and point to lackluster results, but stating that they did nothing last year is blatantly false.
  13. You can reference back to the Yelich trade thread that was bumped recently for a reminder of how a lot of people view things negatively, whether warranted or not...
  14. The Blue Jays have a nice system, and it would be likely that the Brewers would find some stuff they like there.
  15. That's because Tomlin is literally running the same exact offense and defense he ran in 2007. If you thought Mike McCarthy's philosophy and gameplanning was getting stale, multiply that by 100, and that's how Steelers fans feel. It does feel that Tomlin, McCarthy, and Payton all got their jobs at the same time, all won a SB very early in their career, and all underperformed over the next decade plus. Only the Packers have actually done something about it...
  16. Pittsburgh too. Ben's 3 appearances gloss over that he hasn't been there since 2010. I've been on this train for a while now, but in consideration of why Tomlin still has a job. I know the Rooneys hate coaching turnover more than literally anyone in the league, but other than winning a SB with Cowher's infrastructure, Tomlin has seemingly underperformed every year since....
  17. As others noted, the Packers would make that trade, and Houston wouldn't. You acquire Rodgers if your window to compete is now, and Houston's undoubtedly isn't.
  18. Probably won't even be that. They'd sign him to a small extension and turn that $17 million into $2 million next year and a $15mil bonus to spread out over 3 years. This is probably accurate. He's no guarantee to stay on the field based on recent history, but he's a mighty good bet to replace a stiff like Lowry and produce much higher. When you factor in that a Lowry cut would save them $3.3 million in cap space, it effectively takes Watt's salary down to $14 million just from that....
  19. Is there any actual speculation out there as to what it would cost to acquire Watt? You'd HAVE to think the Packers would have an interest depending on price...
  20. Kind of astounding to me that he's still only 24 now 3 years after the trade... The Brewers probably have the best inside knowledge of him of any team that could claim him, and I wouldn't be upset or surprised if they put in a claim as a result. At the same time, I won't be disappointed if they use that same insight to determine that he's not worth it.
  21. Honestly, I think Yamamoto was the piece that I personally was most worried about coming back to potentially haunt us. Obviously I'm not excited that his career has stalled, but glad that the FO is seemingly really good at proper evaluation of the talent they give away in these deals...
  22. I think the sole argument is that all of the studies providing the scientific evidence note a dependence on social distancing and masking requirements as discussed above. I think that districts will have substantial challenges in returning to a 'normal' classroom setting while enforcing 6-feet apart desks at the very least. What seems most likely is continued 'cohorting', where at any given time some students are in person while others are virtual to keep in-person class sizes down. The logistics of that seem problematic to me as a non-educator, but some districts seem to have adopted this model in some way, presumably with some success.
  23. Is that narrative really accurate or necessary? What leads you to believe that 'they need to get their act together'? C'mon man... This is a message board for fans. I can rephrase that if you want. "once they decide what they want to do." Is that better? Yes, actually. You're obviously free to use whichever you'd like, but I don't think you should be surprised if people respond negatively to 'get their act together.'
