  1. Hi all. Just checking in on the vent thread. Simply posting here - without actually venting - will show my displeasure at the team play of late.
  2. I think Hardy still drives Lee's old car.
  3. Thanks for the pics, Trwi7, but I still can't really see it. I was searching for pics myself, and I can't find them either, so you did a better job than I did, but I still can't see it clearly enough to believe that he's gained a significant amount of weight in two years. EDIT: Ooops. Now I see it. Ugly. No wonder... 2006: http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/292/princevy3.jpg Aug, 2008: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Baseball/MLB/2008/08/05/300_Fat_Fielder.jpg
  4. Can anybody find good comparison pics? Say, 2006 vs 2008? Something where we can really see the difference? I'm just not so sure.
  5. It should be Lou Pinella. Hands down. He doesn't even know the difference between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Apparently, he got lost and drove all the way across Ohio by accident. Hee hee. http://sports.yahoo.com/m...ends-up-ne?urn=mlb,105902
  6. I like haiku fine But I'm happy anytime Ryan Braun goes yard
  7. The highest quality baseball hats available are on sale through Aug 31. They're handmade by the same company that makes caps for Cooperstown. They still use real wool, which means caps that fit over time. (I'm not affiliated, just thought I'd mention it since I hate New Era's new era of polyester caps.) ballcap.com
  8. I think Hardy wants to be a Brewer and that the Brewers would be crazy to trade him now. I think that if the Brewers were willing to sign both Hart and Hardy long term, it would be a done deal for both. You guys are right that sans pitching, the Brewers will need bats to ride out the inevitable fall off.
  9. Braun will be there with bells on. The question is will Hardy be there? Or will Craig.C play short as Billy Hall makes a rare appearance at 3rd? And what about Rickie? Only time will tell...
  10. Thanks for the links and suggestions. I want to try Holmen Meat Locker. While we're on it, Robertson's beef jerky is terrific. I think they're out of Texas or Oklahoma. I know you can find it at Love's Travel Stops, but ordering it straight from Robertson's is better quality: http://www.robertsonshams.com/
  11. And guess who slides into Paul Byrd's spot... Wacky Zacky Jackson, of course. http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2008/08/lefty_zach_jackson_excited_by.html
  12. If there were more lefties than righties batting in the league, then yes, first base D would be much more important. But since the majority of batters are righties...
  13. I've been saying it all along: Prince has a pretty big chip on his shoulder. JJ is the team leader. Silent type. When he's hot, the team is hot. When he's not, the team is not.
  14. I just felt it was necessary to post in this thread right about now. That's all.
  15. I'll bet his agent paid for it.
  16. Figured now was as good a time to bump this thread as any and ask again: Should Dave Bush still go? Obviously, Dave Bush has looked waaay better as of late.
  17. When I heard Mota coming into the game on my XM Radio, I immediately turned it off, shut the curtains, drank a bottle of fortified wine, went into a fetal position, and cried all night. I didn't check the final score until just now. Basically, what we've learned here is precisely why the Mets fans describe Mota as a 'boo magnet'. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4628/picture2wz1.png
  18. I only said Zach Jackson helped get the Sabathia deal done. From what I've read, the Indians have played up Zach Jackson as a bullpen pitcher who could possibly help the team THIS year. Jackson was once a good prospect in his own right (at the time that Overbay was traded, I remember hearing how Zach Jackson had the higher ceiling than Bush...), though his value has certainly diminished with his cups of weak coffee and his play of late. I'm not claiming that he was anything more than a throw in, and I also know that the Indians front office is saying anything to its fans right now to placate them. But the reality is that ZachJack came from Overbay which came from Sexson. And Zach Jackson was one of the chips traded away for Sabathia. Was he the big chip? Did I say he was? Could I be a self-respecting member of this board and honestly believe Zach Jackson netted CC Sabathia? I hope not. Still, Zach Jackson could use a change of scenery, and the Indians are obviously willing to take a chance on him. There have been plenty of pitchers who have underperformed, then turned it around and been decent for a season or two before falling into mediocrity forever. Perhaps that's what the Indians are hoping for?
  19. And in a game where the best fail seven out of ten times, then that has to be good. Doug Melvin is a professional, baseball-smart GM. He's also pretty good with the purse strings. I'm happy he is here instead of elsewhere. Remember that the Sexson trade helped get the Sabathia trade done. Sexson <-> Overbay <-> Zach Jackson <-> Sabathia. If the Sabathia trade works, the balance in the Sexson trade shifts again. Melvin has a hard job.
  20. This is an interesting evaluation of the trade in the LA Times - interesting because it compares the Dodgers franchise's moves with the Brewers. It goes into the Brewers' history and 'selling history' in overly promoting the 82 team. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-bbcol8-2008jul08,0,7249076.story?page=1
  21. I say, save Braun's swing for the Brewers. We need it more than the HR Derby does.
  22. I just really like the word daxxle. Wow. Awesome word. I am daxxled by it. But seriously, the shoulder is a convenient explanation, but it makes sense. He's feeling healthy, seeing the ball well, and boom. Going to Arizona where he has a home and family probably didn't hurt. Who knows... He is streaky, apparently. I'm not complaining about the upside though.
  23. We were all guilty of one-liners. I posted only once, a one-liner, which was my sly way of commenting on how it was, in the words of one moderator, 'one of, if not the, longest [threads] in Brewerfan's history.' I saw no warnings from 'mad'erators. (I kid because I love...) Anyway, my post was deleted. I'd like to have commented on the CC trade, but the whole thread is just too unwieldy. Oh well.
  24. He and JJ can make Alphabet Soup - although it would taste a little heavy on the consonants.
  25. I love JJ Hardy. He is an exciting player sometimes. Wow. I never thought he would get as hot again as he was to start last season, or the fall of his rookie season, but he is hotter now than either of those times.
