Haha he may not be as built as Salome but he is a strong little guy -

I'm pretty excited for his pontential if he signs. Not a bad pick, but I hope they know they can sign him. The guy is a very muscular compact guy. Not quit Salome ha (not many are) but looks pretty built. The way it looks and sounds is that he is a faster Caleb Gindl. Same body type and size, with powerful bats and can play anywhere in the outfield. Thats the way I see him at least. -

Don't be naive, none of the guys at 4 are automatic all-stars if your the pirates you take the guy who will sign and has the ability to be a solid MLB catcher not great but decent. He was worth a first round maybe not to me a top 5 but I'm not the one who has watched every game and him on film and at showcase same as I didn't when I was disappointed wit the laporta pick. Turned out to be a good ass pick. Really no one knows what's coin to happin including any of us or even you battlekow -
General Draft Discussion
BrewCrewWS2008 replied to colbyjack's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
I don't know about everyone talking about reaches as such a bad thing....I remember when people felt Braun was a little bit of a reach, until the week before the draft looked to be just a mid 1st round guy and LaPorta everyone talked about it being such a reach and they both are real good players that flew though the minors and up the top prospect list. MLB is not the NFL and NBA were teams trade up and down to get the guys they like so if Hobsgood is the top guy on their board take him, if Sanchez take him. I know everyone on here are pro scouts and crosscheckers that drive to all these guys games and showcases to watch all these guys play and all but everyone sees different things when scouting. Some fall in love with guys and others really don't like them. Thats why its impossible to do mock baseball drafts. Man i hate listening to Bud Selig announce the picks, its like listening to a kindergarten teacher. With...the...2 6th ....pick in... the...2009.... firrrst year ...player draaaft theeee Milwaaaukeee Breewerss pick...... Its driving me nuts haha -
trade with SEA the day after the draft
BrewCrewWS2008 replied to rousieboy's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
ha there is no way that a any GM would trade for a bunch of young single A/ R ball players even if he did draft them as the scouting director. Could you imagine how pissed we'd all be if we traded a solid to great major league player for a bunch of low single A and Rookie league players. I know this was made earlier in the season but look what at the stats of the players in the trade. Wooten is the only one playing great. Lintz is still in EST and now Cutter is down their learning a new position and was not hitting the ball very well. Fredrickson is all over the place, and Brewer, I don't know he just can't put it all together. I for some reason see him retiring and going the Javon Walker, James Casey way to college football. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who sees that happening but yeah. Last like someone said before he as faith in his abilities as a scout and knows that he can get talent there without having to try to trade for it. If we would do a trade some guys I's think it'd be more established prospects like a Taylor Green, Lorenzo Cain, Caleb Gindl........ someone like that. You never want to put yourself in a situation to fail when running a team or coaching or really anything. Thats what he'd be doing by trading for first year guys who haven't shown anything yet. Lawrie and Wooten would be the only two in the draft class from last year that I'd be excited about if I was a Seattle fan. Lawrie's potential is huge and Wooten seems to be at worst a decent 6th or 7th bullpen arm -
Wisconsin prospects for 2009
BrewCrewWS2008 replied to knowitall's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
That'd be nice and knowing Sam I'd think that he'd probably sign but I hope he should sticks around for another year and his draft stock should get much higher. He plays for one of the top JUCO teams in the country and is the everyday shortstop so he's going to get looked at. He should have been drafted last year but I think a lot of the scouts and FIU backed off once there was a big off field issue right around draft time. (no character issues with him at all) You look at his PG ratings his senior year and they are both 9.5 so he has the talent and tools. The main reason I think that is knowing the family for the a long time, the whole Wes thing I think would plays a role. Wes has regretted not signing with the Brewers coming out of high school. He went down to Mizzou didn't really like it and it didn't work out then was going to play for MATC (Madison) before then signing on with UWM where he has had injuries that have kept him off the field and not allowed him to get back to form. Tore his rotator cuff beginning of this season and played a extra game or 2 with it before it got dianosed (explains the errors and batting stats) So who knows if he'll get another chance to make it to the minor leagues.(He did medically redshirt so still will have 2 more seasons to work with) So i think for Sam it would be take the chance when you have. -
I really don't like the move. He has only been in the outfield for not even a full season and is 19 so you don't to just give up on it. It kind of bumbs me out because now he will not be in the same wave as Lawrie, I was looking forward to watching these 2 go up together. I don't see how he could possibly have more value there. He has Weeks, Iribarren, Green (IMO I think he holds more value at 2b than 3b in the majors, just my opinion though) Farris, Lawrie all ahead of him. I mean how could you be more optimisic of moving up and being the Brewers future 2nd baseman with that infront of you instead of Cameron, Duffy/Gwynn Jr.,Stern, Cain(maybe if not a corner of), and Schaefer? I hope the move works out for them and Cutter though

Ha funny story bout this comment is that when I went to the Minn Wisconsin game in Minnosota two year ago lol it was about 70 percent badger fans! I was in the student section and over have was badger fans so we just over ran them over! their whole student section.....it was great but back to brewer cubs, just don't bring your kids. be smart you know what if going to happpen their and be ready for it. The place is going to be tense like or not, don't go if you don't like that. I mean even Cardinal games are good games for the family cause we don't as fans consider them our arch rival and it is much better of a game to go to if you eant more of a calm game. Cubs-Brewers has come to far and their is no help saving. We hate them and they hate us it 's a borderline battle.....get us to it!
-
yeah, but in spite his improved average, his OPS is still terrible Really???? I forgot OPS is all that matters! Wow he is a lead off hitter, in the major leagues, that means he is supose to get on base maybe steal some bases and score runs but I guess only hitting double and homers can do that. That whole next year comment is ridiculous. I'd still take him over Duffy. You can continue to think that OPS is the only stat that matters if you want but secret is that it truely doesn't make a player worthy of being in the major leagues. If he can start hitting well..... okay I forgot .328 is god aweful, maybe next kid!!!!

Yeah I was in 435 friday night and after the game their was a huge 15-20 brawl right next to me(literally). It started out your normal college drunk kids cheering, some f the cub chants and stuff thrown in there but after the Braun homer things escolated(spelling). After the game one of the d bag cub fans throw a beer which got me a little but more of the people next to me and one of the fans ran up there and the fight just got bigger and bigger. I quickly forced my g/f down the stairs to get out of the way and we watched some of it from down there. I couldn't believe the lack of security up in the terrence level no one showed but to break it up the 5-10 minutes we were up there. People it's common sense that this problem is going to continue to grow the more the rivalury does. Like it or not. If you want to bring your young kids your going to have to spend a little more for better seats were there is less drunk college kids (aka terrence then bleechers you get alot also) I'm a young college kid and I don't mind it at all cause I am young and having fun, enjoying baseball, the whole tension between brewer and cub fans make it that much more fun to be there and watch it. I love the different shirts, sitting out tailgating and listening to the people heckle back and forth. It's great. The fights are a little over board and dumb but it happens at packer and badger games to.

Okay here is my 2 cents on this topic: 1) I'll take anything said by selena roberts (the insane, crazy stalker) with a grain of salt. She offers no evidence at all! I could write a book like hers saying LeBron James was given HGH growing up and supply as much nonsense as her crazy @ss. She clearly has a vendetta out for A-Rod. 2) Putting on 25 lbs in a year for a high school athlete is not hard, definatley from your soph to junior year. Your body matures more, you probably are working out harder and taking different proteins or creatine(hope not though because creatine is aweful for you). I know plenty of players that I played with do that. They weren't on steroids. 3) If A-Rod has taken steroids regularly he is an idiot and doesn't know how to take them. Look at the guy! In no way, shape, or form does he look like a juicer. If I was on roids and thats as big as I could get, I'd want a refund. His weight has stayed the same for most of his career and numbers have been about the same. He is consistant and not that injury prone (which steroids usually causes more injuries) 4) Steroids don't give you the skills that A-Rod has, he is a natural. I could take steroids all I want but is not going to make me one of the best players of all time. Steroids don't make you hit for high average, see the ball better, or anything. It may give you some more homeruns but thats it. Gabe Kapler was on roids big time when he was coming up and in his early years did it make him as good as a-rod? no not at all. A-Rod on steroids or not would be the exact same player. 5) Last their is no doubt in my mind he is on performance enhancing drugs..... but really who isn't? Braun is, Hardy is, Hart is just not stuff that is banned yet. I bet they go to GNC once a month load up on all their supplements which do what? Help you perform better and get faster results. Players can get suspened for taking the wrong diet pill if their is one ingrediant that is banned. (look at McAllister, Kevin Wlliams, Grady Jackson in the NFL this past season). You look at the products that were sold at GNC 5 years, all them were fine to take now their are tons that of the same products that are banned. Really this whole thing is annoying as hell, Selana Roberts is trash and worthless. If A-Rod did he did, oh well it didn't make him the player he is today. The guy can play baseball, plain and simple, steroids or not. I still respect him as a player. I wish Roberts would just f*** off and stop making me have to listen to this crap on espn and everything else. Why doesn't she get off his @ss and maybe report the other 103 players on the list except for just pick on one

Absolute statements are very often false. A more accurate statement would be I feel its almost impossible for us to make the playoffs with what we have right now. ha good point, there is always a chance. We are only a few games in and t may work it self out a bit but I'm not sure we have enough. Once Hoffman gets in his groove and if Coffey can pitch as good as he has we could have a solid 8th and 9th.
-
Yeah but its still nice to have an universal vent thread. I'm going to be honest here, looking at our system and staff right now, unless some guy just steps up big time we are in serious trouble of not even making .500. We don't have depth at all. I have been think of things we can try to do to get pitching or how to help our problem. The only guys I really trust out there right now in our bullpen are Defilice and Coffey Happy to see Dillard starting again and that he can be a spot starter. We should be 5-2 but we are 2-5 which is nothing to be worried about but our staff is a REAL concern. No doubt at all. We can not make the playoffs with what we have right now
-
Agreed 100%, why have 100 different thread that are like how long of a leash will this person have or other threads like that instead of just one where you can throw it out there and dicuss it. It is universal! You hate something you say and we discuss it. I don't see one problem with that at all. We are all fustrated at least a little with the performance so far and want to talk about the horrible pitching, Suppan, unclutch hitting, close loses, lineups and so on.....why have different threads for all of them???? How is that better?
-
With the way the season has started out I know many of use really need to get some things off are chest and just vent! I was waiting for someone to put it up but I haven't seen it anywhere yet. It has been a good thread in past years and figured we'd get it going again. Now I know many of us got somethings to say and get off thier chest so let the 2009 venting begin!
-
ugh, that is not a great team right now oreven that exciting..... guess the fan in Huntsville will for once won't be overally spoiled with top prospect until around May or June when they get healthy and get some call ups. After that they could have a pretty decent team C Lucroy 1B Errecart SS Brewer (I think it won't take that long for him to be promoted) 3B Green OF Cain OF Fermaint Jr. (still holding out hope he can turn it around....) Then with Jefferess, McClendon, Hand, Aguilar, Periard, these are the guys I will check the box scores for and keep a close eye on
-
Starting line-up In guessing: C Zarraga 1B Kjeldgaard 2B Lawrie SS Marseco 3B Treja LF Komatsu CF Dykstra RF Vass SP Fredrickson SP Adams SP Scarpetta SP Peralta SP Nieves Disappointed that Odorizzi, Lintz won't be up right away but it probably won't be long before they get called for early promotions I'm really excited to see Treja, Dykstra, Lawrie, Zarraga, Peralta, Scarpetta ,Nieves, mixed with Odorizzi and Lintz some time this season ---I see them as the next wave to move up together though the system(Lawrie will prob move ahead a litttle bit faster). Guys like Adams, Fredrickson, Komatsu I think will all be in promoted by all-star break
-
Its baseball, its not like he is marching onto a football field or a boxing ring. He isn't being irresponsible, he loves the game, feels healthy and wants to show his national pride. Family man or not, how many of us play hurt for pointless bar league softball game? Are we irresponsible? No, we just love to play the game. I am happy for him and think he could be a positive influence on Lawrie and some of the other young guys. Alson Nelson Cruz is on the DR team that should just roll thoughout the tourney. They are just loaded!
-
I think we got the Johnson in the bag, Gallardo is better than Cain i think, alot more consistant at least so that one is close. Suppan vs Timmy L, ouch that could be ugly but Brewers did beat him up pretty good last year also. Brewers like good leftys, its when they go against crappy 6.56 ERA guys or never pitched in the majors before type of guys that kill them.

Do you have the same doubts that Pettite only took PED's to rehab from injury? Everyone seemed to accept that excuse and no one has talked about him since. But as always, A-Rod gets different treatment for the fans and media. I agree that A-Rod's getting put through the wringer here, but I do have the same doubts about Pettitte. Rodriguez is probably getting treated worse than anyone else has (especially by the New York media) because he was being built up as one of the last few true "clean" guys. People were depending on him to "cleanly" break the HR record and remove Bonds from the books. I can understand why people are reacting the way they are, I just don't really agree with it.Yeah, 100% right. Im not, even though it may seem like, a big A-Rod fan but I do believe that all this crap he is getting is way outta line. I'd take him having the record over Bonds anyday. People love to hate A-Rod the way it is. I really feel he was honest in that interview just watching him and everything made sense. His numbers he had when he was 21 and the numbers he has today are consistant. His time in Texas there wasn't a giant spike maybe a little the 1st year with 57, 52 still a little higher but overall if he breaks Bonds he still did as a great player even without the drugs. Plus if he hits 30-40 more than Hank Aaron, that more than plenty makes up for for how many "extra PED Hr's" he hit in those few years.
-
Yeah actually, Like I said before you can the guys that take TRUE, REAL, anabolic steroids, you don't stay close to the same weight on roids, you don't stay lean, it builds you up! And like I said before PED's is a whole different beast. Steroids is just a type of PED's but there is alot more to it. Name one athlete who has never taken any type of supplement from GNC, Advocare or something else like that. Everyone even fielder or Braun could be on something that MLB tomorrow decide to ban it doesn't mean they are cheating or that the product is bad just that there is one ingrediant in it that may or may not enhance performance. Most of GNC stuff is for the simply fact of enhancing performance. Lose weight fast, put on muscal fast, get fast weightroom gains and so on. I believe A-Rod 100% his numbers are 2 consistant. Not every player is smart when it comes to doing the research and check products that your trainers or other team mats tell you to try. Everyone wants to be the best. A-Rod with or without steroids is right there. There is more to baseball than having extra muscal to put the ball over the fence. He hits for high average, steroids do nothing for that! He has great vison, great hands, stays back and so on. Look at Alex Sanchez. Was a lot smaller than A-Rod, shot up and prob weighed more than A-Rod and still could hit more than 5 HR's in a season. Anyone who studies fitness or has the tiniest clue about it can tell someone on roids or get a good idea. Just from not being an idiot I can tell that A-Rod has not taken steroids for that long. Some type of PED's prob but who doesn't in 2003 there were prob 50% less banned substances. Like I said before people always counts PED's as anabolic steroids drives me nuts. 2 completely different things. I mean steroids is a type of PED but shouldn't always be linked. he tested positive for an anobolic steroid but unless he did not touch one weight in those three years in Texas, I guarentee he didn't take that roid for all three years. WhenTurnbow did great for us, did we talk about how he used steroids... no or when Kapler was being the man last season did we talk about how much he use to take a nice shot in the butt.... no. A good baseball player is a good baseball player. I bet most didn't use steriods in HS or College or even in the minors. When it come to the bigs some got caught up in a bad era, tried to get the big contracts and lose faith in themselves. Turned to steriods for awhile then stopped after a few seasons... most. I bet outta the 103 there would be some other guys on there that would shock you. Point is with or without it they most still could play at a real high level. Bonds hit 40 Hrs a season (oh go to bodybuilder.com the guys workout is tough just a side note) and you can tell whenever it was that the BALCO guy got him on something because his body really grew and the power soared from from a great 40 HR a season average. When I said baseball is a mess I more so meant a crazy Zoo, now these days there are so many distractions that are taking away from the game. Who cares if these guys took roids and cheated. We know they did. Yes its horrible and destroyed a whole decade of baseball but they dont need to be in court for it and maybe facing prison time. Just dumb, get it off espn, off mlb.com, no more court hearings just do the damn right thing which is judge them on there play and if they used steroids mix that in and punish them by not voting for them to get into the Hall or Fame it you think that is what made them great. Bonds doesnt deserve the 2 records, he doesn't but he in my opinion deserves Hof F for what he did prior. He was great. A-Rod was honest, he passed his past drug test except for 1 and still has 9 more years to play his consistant baseball and break the record. I'm not going to say no to him because he was dumb for a short time in a 20 year career and his numbers in those few years were high but but not that much higher from some others.
-
I was disappointed to hear this and think mlb should just get over it and release the rest already. I mean if someone was able to dig up A-Rod then someone else may dig about another and thing will just go one by one and be more distacting. If Arod has to face all this why do the other 103 get to just sit back and smile that they are in the clear. Arod needs to finish with around 590 for me to truely say he earned hanks record. I averaged up his homeruns excluding the three big steroids year and just gave him the average for those. Total was like 594. The guy doesn't need steroids to hit the long ball, and I still believe that he is respectiable enough to earn the record. Look at him he is not a guy that is all juiced up ripping though his uniform like most of them. You can tell the guys who truely use steroids and those who dap around and try it. As for performance enhancing drugs? If you have ever been in GNC there is a decent chance your diet pill or whatever has some banned ingrediant. Hell, viagra is a permance enhancing drug, pro athletes use it all the time. It fires up the body like Muscal Fuel, testostrone, Super Pump, and all those ones so you get stronger gains in the weightroom. If the athlete is not on an illegal anabolic steroid or human growth hormone that then there is no prob. I like in the NFL is Grady Jackson and Deuse McAliister on steroids because they took a water pill that as one tiny ingrediant that may cause higher performance. People always consider everything steroids. So I like to be careful before I judge a player until I know exactually what he is on. But Arod made a dumb mistake hit and. extra years worth of f homeruns..... baseball is just a mess Ken Griffrey goes down as the best player in the steroid era hands down. He is the true hero through the dark days of baseball.. Sucked with all the injuries since going to the Reds, he may have been right with Bonds or well in decent striking distance at least.

This sucks, I felt Sveum was the man for the job. Hes honest, straight to the point, knows his baseball, and the players love to play for him! Not sure if you guys played college or high school sports but to i always liked the younger coaches that can relate to the players. Its nice to have an old knowledgable coach but it doesnt build great chemistry. Dale stepped in and got all those young guys behind him. Experence doesn't always make you better, smarter or anything....if it did those guys wouldnt be unemployed. Plus CC really liked Dale, so anyone who was still holding out a little hope for CC, idk that may factor in. Maybe not 2 much cause he just enjoys the club house all together though. All in all, look at the nfl right now, it is all new young inexperienced coaches, and its working, teams arent living in the past bringing in all these old guys because they have more experience. They care about knowledge, energy, and leadership, NOT just experience. Dale has all them. Just because baseball is americas past time doesnt mean we have to live in the past and bring in some guy who couldnt cut it at his last job. If they were that great of managers they wouldnt be sitting in the unemployment line.
