    I think it caught the corner. Great pitch. It sucks, but if we’re all being honest, we’d be upset if Megill didn’t get that call on a 3-2 count with 2 outs in the 9th.

    I hope OBP isn’t the only number he considers. Durbin has some power to tie or win the game. Seigler doesn’t.

    Slipping to the wild card, drawing the Dodgers and getting swept in 2 games would probably be all the motivation I need to give up baseball forever.

    I refuse to believe it’s a coincidence that our incredibly hot run started when Bauers went on IL and started grinding to a halt when he returned.

    I really don’t think that’s going to happen. I’d be happy if it did. I think you’re underestimating how quickly 5-6 games can be erased if the Cubs get on a hot streak. For perspective, we trailed by 5.5 in 2018 entering September and caught the Cubs, who didn’t even play particularly bad. 5 games isn’t a lot. It went from 9 to 5 in a week.

    Just not a good decision, agreed. Not every late matchup needs to be L/R. Stick with the guy with gap power and take a shot. Between that and his refusal to use Perkins for a late defensive replacement in CF, Murph didn’t have a good day.

    It’s wild to me that some think the division is won. Given the schedules, it might be down to 3 before September even arrives.

    That’s what I thought too. It just seemed like a ball that anyone with range gets to, it hung up a bit.

    Just leaving too many men on. In a 1 run game, gotta find a way to get that leadoff man on 2nd and nobody out across the plate.

    Yelich is going to give them 30 HR and 100 dingers this year. That’s a big bat. Not totally sure what Vaughn will give us next year, but if it’s anything close to this year that’s a big bat.
