I’m going to go with the much IGT - maligned William Contreras. Not just because he’s now got a 3.1 WAR, or his 111 OPS+ playing through the injury with calls for his benching. But also because I believe his role and relationship with this pitching staff is invaluable to their success. It’s hard to pick one, but I think he’s a huge reason we are 30 games over .500.

Quintana wasn’t going to keep getting lucky all night.

Lockridge is pretty much… as advertised so far. Good defender but not someone you want in the lineup much. I guess he’s worked some deep counts.

For not allowing a hit yet, Quintana has been absolutely teed off on.

I said the Mariners made the biggest move of all at the deadline (acquiring Suarez), and have gotten squat out of the biggest move. Suarez has a ,357 OPS and -0.5 WAR with Seattle. I would say that statement was not inaccurate at all.

I know of another team that is 9-0 since the deadline, so their approach seems to have worked for them as well.

I think MLB umpires have colluded to all be collectively awful now, so that they can’t be individually singled out anymore.

Quinn is hot garbage today. Going to have an ERA correction day because it just doesn’t pay to pull him early with the taxed pen.

Not that anyone could have expected it to last forever, but it feels like Vaughn magic is starting to fade a bit. Hopefully I just reverse jinxed him into a 3 run homer in his next AB.

Hopefully Priester settles down because he wasn’t fooling anyone in the 1st. Pretty lucky to only give up 2. Opposite of what we needed from him today with a taxed pen.

Not a good start at all for Priester. Loses command coming in, lets Lindor get a huge lead and then gives up the dribbler and there’s an easy run just like that.

Basically they can be a contender if X number of things from this list happen: stay relatively healthy, Love improves and plays at Pro Bowl level, Golden looks legit, Van Ness finally looks like something not resembling a bust and they’re able to start generating a pass rush without blitzing, and the offensive line meshes well and holds up. But there’s 20 teams in the league with a “we can contend if X number of things happen from this list.”

We were barely good enough for a 7 seed in the NFC last year. Our signings were Nate Hobbs and Mecole Hardman, and Aaron Banks, and we lost Jaire and others. I honestly don’t expect us to be a serious contender.

Dude got a contract about half the value of our entire franchise and our closer that was just some bum pitcher with the Cubs a few years ago just made him looks silly. Gotta love it.

Bum ass Frankie Montas has an ERA over 6? I don’t know if it’s worse that we had him start a Game 2 playoff game last year, or worse that he somehow suckered someone into giving him another 20Mish per season.

I don’t understand why he was so gassed from the get-go. I get he’s not stretched out to go 7, but is his conditioning that bad right now?
