  1. They can at least bring up an extra bat until that spot in the rotation comes up then replace him with Hader to start, not Milone. Wren fits that role perfectly. Not only is he LH, he's a contact guy on a team starved for them. They probably won't bring Hader up for one start, as I think that would make him a Super 2 player. If Guerra was lost for a long period then they might, but I'd guess they'll just suffer through a Milone start and then put either Garza or Guerra into the rotation if one of them is ready. Your scenario to get another bat on the bench could work if they decide to let Jungmann get the start. There's no harm in calling him up for one start, and they wouldn't need to add him until after Friday's game. That might not be a bad option. Why would one start make Hader a Super 2? Unless there was a significant change in the new CBA that I missed you need a lot more service time than that.
  2. Michael Reed would be better defensively in LF than Ryan Braun. Doesn't mean he should be starting there.
  3. Ummm........who would that be? No kidding. Isan Diaz of Single A ball? The angst over a 3 WAR young switch hitter is remarkable. Villar is 25. 25. Perhaps we should consider that not all players are fully developed and mature at 25. We went through this same nonsense when Gomez was 25. Only difference being Villar is quite a bit better than Gomez was at 25, and we were contending then.
  4. Really? He personally kind of seems like a piece of trash. I mean I like Braun and all with him being a Brewer but I'm not blind to the fact that I would probably despise him if he spent the last 10 years with another organization.
  5. ...what. Cutler was entrusted as the franchise AB, the most important position on the team, cost franchise QB money, and the team gave up multiple high picks to acquire him. Villar is a 2nd baseman in a much more team oriented sport, makes league minimum salary, and the Brewers gave up Cy Sneed for him. But yeah, other than that, they're the same, though I doubt Stearns is going to be fired on the basis of acquiring Villar for Snead. The hatred for Villar is so over the top. Yes, he can be a frustrating player. Yes, he needs to work on the fundamentals of his game. He's also a very good player that missed being the first 20/60 player since Rickey Henderson by 1 HR, and put up a 3 WAR, all at the young age of 25. There is a good reason we offered him a 20M extension. He was 24 on opening day last year. A 24 year old MLB infielder that puts up a 3 WAR and we want to run him out of town for his mental mistakes. Or maybe, I don't know, seeing as how he's really young and talented and started playing at a high level at a young age, and we're a rebuilding club, we could maybe work with him on the things he does need to work on and have some patience with him. My goodness. Its. The. First. Game.
  6. It's the same kind of poor play he showed at SS and 3B last year and they just gave away the incumbent 2B for the past 3 1/2 years to open the spot for him so when he is directly responseble for giving away 3 runs in a game lost by two, people aren't going to be too happy. Probably because the incumbent 2B was a replacement level player last year.
  7. When it's brought up that the Brewers had the worst defense in the league last year, it was almost all on Villar. Has all the tools but his mental game is completely lacking. Villar played more 2nd toward the end of last year, logged a total of 69 innings in 2016, and played quite well there by all accounts after the switch and did not commit an error at 2nd. Perhaps we can give him more than just the first game of 2017 before declaring that he can't play 2nd.
  8. Please don't tell me that you're actually suggesting that Villar should have been waived. Talk about your Opening Day overreactions.
  9. Would have also been nice if the bottom of our order had went up to the plate with an ounce of patience after seeing Ottavino struggle with his control with the first two hitters in the inning.
  10. Because in today's MLB, you need 3-4 innings of relief pitching. Every day. Especially when your rotation isn't very good.
  11. Three absolutely atrocious ABs after leading off the inning with 2nd and 3rd and no one out. Everything since the top of the 7th has been Brewer baseball at its finest. Same old.
  12. Why am I not even remotely surprised that the next two struck out after putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with no one out?
  13. Hindsight here, but I really don't understand why Bandy got the opening day nod over Pina.
  14. Guess you must have forgotten Scooter literally costing us 2 games by himself last year just from failing to hit the bag at the right time trying to turn 2.
  15. More MLB quality defense from the Crew. Knebel gave up a ground ball and struck a guy out and still gives up 2 runs.
  16. I like him at 2B. I think he'll have a much better defensive year than last. Nevermind. He's still a head case.
  17. Opening Day is likely to be a microcosm for our season. Good bats, sucky pitching.
