  1. He'll make $86,500 this year at the least as a 40 man roster member with MLB experience. It's not like they'll be living in poverty. If he just goes to AAA and does his job, he'll be back up soon. It's not like we are going to use only 8 relievers all year.
  2. Saying dumb things in the heat of the moment is one thing. Publicly ripping your employer and boss is entirely another, and will be enough to get you fired in many lines of work. Be frustrated, but you still have to maintain your professionalism. It's not a good look for Cravy. And I agree that Milone doesn't deserve a spot on the team.
  3. I think Cravy has a right to be mad given his ST performance. With that said, saying he's going to get a 9-5 where he'll be treated like a human is kind of insulting to everyone who has actually worked a 9-5 and understands the middle class struggle to make ends meet. That being said, he's already earned a retirement pension and lifetime healthcare because of his time on the MLB roster with this organization. He made more in his limited MLB time last year than I made on my '9-5', and as a 40 man roster member with MLB experience, he'll make $86,500 this year just pitching for Colorado Springs if he never gets called up, probably more than he'll make at his hypothetical 9-5. More likely, he'll be the first guy called up out of the pen when an injury takes place or a guy underperforms, which shouldn't take long, at which point he'll be making a prorated half a million plus this year. So really Tyler, it's not that bad. Shut up and do your job, and you'll be back up soon. Or go ahead and quit and see how much better the real world is.
  4. I'm guessing we have our eye on some reliever on waivers from final cuts, nothing more.
  5. Kirk? Doubt he's going anywhere. They aren't going with 3 true outfielders on the roster.
  6. Cravy and Scahill are furious and I don't blame them. Milone had no business making the roster.
  7. Am I the only one that thinks Shaw could be really under the radar good? He has hit for a lot of power in very limited ABs, in a park that isn't lefty slugger friendly, moving to a park that is very lefty slugger friendly, and plays good D at 3rd.
  8. One pitcher and one position player who quietly had great springs: Chase Anderson and Travis Shaw.
  9. I don't say this about too many players, but if we want to give Nicky Delmonico a nice little 90 MPH fastball in the back, I wouldn't be opposed.
  10. Well Dubon is right there. Diaz and Erceg have higher upsides but yes they're still a couple years away. How many teams have top prospects ready at the go at all available positions? Not many or any. Most teams are looking at AAAA replacements if they have injuries. No one is sitting 40 deep on their 40 man roster with MLB ready starting caliber players.
  11. Agreed that the starting lineup would be ok if anyone goes down with Perez and Aguilar stepping in. The problem is that the bench goes from weak to bad. I guess I'm just not really concerned about it. Most of that depth is in the minors. Hopefully DeJesus will clear and wind up in Colorado Springs, if so you have plenty of good IF depth in the minors in him and Dubon. The 40 man is fluid. I don't see a lot of guys in the infield that are going to be replaced much whether it be late in games or frequently needing days off. If we have injuries, the roster will change.
  12. I cannot believe they determined Tommy Milone to be a better option than anyone out there as the lefty out of the pen. Isn't there some lefty arm that was out there in the Rule 5 draft that at least has possible upside as a flyer? Heck, why not just try Wei-Chung Wang? At least there's possible upside there. Milone seems like such a Melvin move.
  13. Imagine if Thon develops as expected seeing Thon, Giannis, Middleton, Parker, and Brogdon all on the court at the same time in 2 years.
  14. I really don't see an issue though. Perez can cover 2nd 3rd or short as the everyday guy, and as mentioned 1st is already well covered. Frankly if it were a short 10 day DL stay I think we could fill it with basically no loss in production. If it were a longer term injury Dubon would possibly be up on the 40 if not the 25. Who would you want to see on the 40 for depth that isn't already on it? I agree that Reed is probably the 40th man right now as far as position players go and the most expendable, but I don't see an issue right now.
  15. Thames wouldn't be a big deal. Aguilar would get most of the starts and they could also go Shaw at 1st and Perez at 3rd. Perez could fill in anywhere in the infield. There's not a ton of depth in the infield on the 40, agreed, but they're pretty well covered right now in the short-term for an injury anywhere even with Scooter gone. Short-term if a guy went on the 10 day Rivera would probably be up. Something longer term that necessitated a 60 day stay they might use that extra 40 spot for Dubon.
  16. I agree that Thames will be fine. I haven't seen anyone really that will be on the 25 man to have any major concern about offensively.
  17. Please don't waste money and a roster spot on Milone. He is terrible.
  18. I agree on having no idea why we're talking about Gallo in a Peralta thread. I also think it's really unfair to say he's 'proven that he's incapable of bring anything other than a career minor leaguer', though.
  19. Man, I know it's only spring training but Brewer starters have just been shelled lately.
  20. I am happy for Aguilar, but I'm staying grounded on him. MLB history is littered with guys who were spring training stars only to never be heard from again. Aguilar has several thousand ABs of a sample size in the minors that suggest he's far more likely to join that group then he is to suddenly become a quality starting MLB 1st baseman after a small sample size of spring training ABs. That said, he certainly earned his way on with performance and I certainly wish him the best of luck overcoming those odds. If nothing else, it's always handy to have a power bat on the bench.
  21. DeJesus definitely did everything he possibly could to make it. Sometimes it's out of your control, you need other stars to align, and they didn't. Thought they might be aligning when Scooter was waived. But hopefully they let him know he did everything within his control to make it. If we had a 26th spot I'd bet he'd have it.
  22. The salary saved on him is about the slot value of a mid 1st round pick, so even though we didn't get anything for him, still a benefit. Which obviously could have been avoided by non-tendering him, but I'm sure back in the fall they probably just wanted to keep their options open.
  23. Good article explaining the math behind why Garza's contract is one of baseball's worst. http://teamstre.am/2o22BgS
  24. I didn't say he had negative value. He had zero value relative to his contract neither positive nor negative. Garza for instance has negative value.
  25. Guess Scooter truly did have zero value.
