  1. Yeah, if the offer is D'Arnaud+Nimmo, that's really underwhelming. Yankees got a better return than that for Chapman.
  2. Why does every time a team doesn't want to sell the farm for one of our rentals people must resort to the "have fun with ___" line? The Rangers prefer pitching and want that instead. They may get a pitcher that has just a big of an impact. Not to mention Norris has been a fine catcher the past few years and still controllable 2 more years vs. 1 for Lucroy. I bet they will have fun with Gallo when he is an All Star first baseman if he pans out too. Can play that game both ways. Why does ribbing on opposing teams bother you so much? Obviously we all understand the business decisions that go into these things. I just don't see Norris as much of an upgrade from, well, anybody.
  3. Hope the Rangers have fun with Norris. That catcher batting under the mendoza line will be quite an upgrade for them.
  4. I would think if the teams really wanted to work around that they could use the PTBNL tag.
  5. I wonder how much unspoken tension there was there between Counsell and Villar with him standing on 2nd with 2 out.
  6. Catching too. Always possible it's just for a curtain call.
  7. They could offer their entire farm system and it wouldn't be enough.
  8. Why would he say the Red Sox aren't a mystery team? That's kind of weird. ..of course they aren't a ...'mystery' team
  9. 'The Mets, he notes, have no intention of dealing either shortstop prospect Amed Rosario or first base prospect Dominic Smith, though.' Then they should not be in the discussions at all.
  10. Oof. That'll take a whole lot more than a teaspoon of sugar. I am not a fan of Stearns, at all. He has done little more than churned and if you add it all up, he has given up more than he has received. Admittedly, its still very early of course. That said, there is no way in the world that he or any other GM would consider TdA as anything other than a final piece thrown in for Luc just so we have a catcher on the MLB roster. The Mets would need to give up both their top prospects (Dom and Rosario) and honestly I dont really like either as a fit for us. And to trade away our only remaining elite trade chip and receive no impact pitching prospects would be insane. Im not buying TdA being a target for Stearns. No way. Really? Who has he given up so far? Khris Davis? Cy Sneed?
  11. Heard the same about Gomez last year. Not buying it. Me either. Just a leverage play. I think Stearns is doing exactly what he should. Knowing full well in his head he's going to take an offer now, but wanting the rest of the league to think he doesn't want to.
  12. Wish I felt the same way about the NTC being a non issue. Lucroy is no spring chicken when it comes to catchers, and the NTC is the only leverage play he has. I wouldn't be at all suspended to see him use it. I'm sure he would love to hit free agency a year early, where he knows he'd be looking at a multi year contract for around 20M a year, not 1 year for $5.25M. He knows he's going to a contender soon regardless of whether or not it's Cleveland, so he may as well try.
  13. Yeah, I wouldn't at all be worried about having 2 SS as our 2 top prospects. Those things tend to work themselves out. Just accumulate as much organizational talent as possible right now.
  14. I would like to work Wheeler into this deal somehow, strategically, not long-term. If he pitches well and shows complete recovery by this time next year he could be flipped for a substantial return.
  15. I'd call Luc + Smith for Rosario + D'Arnaud + D. Smith a good deal. My only disappointment would be not getting pitching.
  16. It would be hard to call an offer with Rosario a disappointment. He's the #18 prospect in baseball. It's not my first choice for a package but he'd be about the closest thing to a sure thing prospect we could land for Lucroy.
  17. He said he wants to go a contender, which the Indians are, but I'm not sure why he would. I suppose it's possible that he might negotiate with it and try to have his 2017 option voided, which would probably be a deal breaker.
  18. I'm optimistic, but I'm trying to stay guarded. The market looks great, but it's been almost all pitchers so far. A pitcher and position player market can be apples and oranges.
  19. True, but there's no guarantee of the same type of reliever market in the offseason or next deadline. I would expect relievers to have considerably less value in the offseason than they have right now.
  20. Mets have an offer on the table that we have 'yet to reject ', supposedly. Unless Rosario and Smith are both on the table I can't see us seriously entertaining offers from the Mets.
  21. Seems fair to me, but knowing the Mets, they'll ask for Smith, Jeffress, and Thornburg for D'Arnaud and complain that we're over valuing our relievers when we say no.
  22. Leak to the media that we have a trade in place for their top prospects, then hold a press conference and announce we had some health concerns with their guys and called it off.
  23. Where did you hear that? I have little doubt Moncada is untouchable, but I never heard that the rest are, especially when they just dealt Espinoza who would be at the high end of that group. If so, that's too much top talent off the table for them to be serious contenders for Lucroy.
  24. I was hoping to see Isan Diaz Crack the top 100. Maybe in the winter.
  25. I'm (fairly) certain it had to be disciplinary for the CS at 3rd with 2 out, right?
