  1. This is just brutal offensively tonight. We really need to find a way to steal this one … we are 0-0 in a game that we could easily be down 4-0.
  2. Yeah, I mean, it’s an awesome play by the Brewers, but there’s no way that a baseball team should finish that play not up 1-0 without some poor base running and mental errors.
  3. Quinn is no Snell, that’s for sure. Not looking sharp.
  4. That was more dumb luck than anything else as the Dodgers were confused and thought it was a catch. But it’s awesome that it worked out.
  5. They aren’t going to do it, but I wish they’d drop Yelich in the order against tough lefties. Tough to watch.
  6. Is it exaggerating to say that was one of the most bizarre plays in MLB history?
  7. Umm. I think that’s a grand slam. edit: nope, I’m wrong ! Insane!
  8. Gotta get out of this at no worse than 1-0 or things could unravel quickly.
  9. Too many walks today for the pitching staff. This Dodger lineup is too loaded to put free traffic aboard.
  10. Absolutely. We’re staring 2-0 in the face if it gets by him.
  11. Murphy: “Quinn looks really sharp.” Quinn: “I’ll show you, Skip.”
  12. Isaac, I like you. I wanted them to keep you on the NLCS roster. I was excited to see you get a shot tonight. But dude, you gotta do something positive already.
  13. Gotta have more from Yelich than we got in the NLDS if we’re going to move on.
  14. Frelick is perfectly capable in CF, though. Not elite by any means, not Perkins. But it’s not like you’re throwing Mark Kotsay out there.
  15. Yeah, I feel so much better about this game than I felt about Saturday. This is enjoyable baseball again. Not that Saturday wasn’t… but the pressure was just immense. Now it’s off. Granted, this is Game 1, not an elimination game, so that helps.
  16. Dude, I love this lineup. Our 9 best hitters? Who thought? Well okay, our 8 best and Joey, but never gonna get Murph to concede on him, I guess. At least it’s only 1 hole in the lineup.
  17. I think Ashby is going to yield to Priester as soon as he gets through Freeman to keep him available for Tuesday. We shall see.
  18. Also would add that I’m sure we had guys watching our pitchers much more closely than we were in the NLDS. Perhaps Mears had a few “yeah you got lucky, you missed your location badly but he didn’t put a good swing on it.” Or Gasser had a few “that was a really good pitch, that was just really great hitting.” Not saying either or both are or aren’t true, but I’m sure we have professionals in our organization watching those exact types of things. It’s just so hard to trust raw numbers in such a small sample size.
  19. Is it possible that Mears is someone they talked to after the series and they feel he’s just spent right now? The NLCS is more demanding than the NLDS in terms of days off. It’s definitely not performance related, Mears pitched well in the NLDS — but when they started leaning on him in September, he was really starting to struggle. Perhaps he’s a guy that they’ve identified who has little in the tank right now, they personally believe he’d struggle right now without a quick break, and the plan is to get him a week plus off and then get him back for hopefully the World Series. Whereas Myers has a pretty fresh arm right now. I don’t know, just a theory.
  20. So where do your allegiances lie in a Brewers/Mariners World Series? 👀
  21. I think we definitely have a chance to win. If I had to bet my life savings on it, my bet would be that at the end of this series, I will be bemoaning the major unfair advantage in baseball that large market teams like the Dodgers have over small markets like us, like I am at the end of most seasons. No matter what happens in this series, it won’t be nearly as disappointing as it would have been to drop the NLDS to the Cubs.
  22. Prefer Quintana over Priester to start to face Ohtani and Freeman early. Ideally you’d like to get past Freeman the second time through with Quintana and then go to Priester. Both Ohtani and Freeman are otherworldly against RHP and “only” very good against LHP. With that said I understand we won’t be able to platoon matchup on every AB, so we will see what they do. Other than those two the Dodgers are pretty RH heavy in the lineup. Which is why I’d prefer carrying 13 pitchers this time especially with the overall lack of days off compared to the NLDS. Considering we usually go with a defense heavy lineup anyway, there isn’t a major reason for a deep bench. Need Jansen obviously, Bauers, Mona, and Collins would be my last guy on the bench.
