It’s easy to do when you hang an 0-2 curveball to the best hitter in baseball. Just a bad pitch and probably not very good pitch selection, either.

I mean if the Dodgers are offering Made and Pena for Ohtani, I’m not saying no. He’s that good, and that valuable. Of course, I’m not the one who has to cut him a check for $68 million every year for 10 years after he’s retired. -
The other two parts of the team sport don’t have anything to do with run production, which is what the post mentioned.

I’m actually stunned that we are 4th in the NL in runs scored. We still don’t have a single player north of a .800 OPS. Half the lineup seems replaceable. It doesn’t seem to add up. Yet, there we are, 4th in the NL in runs scored and 9th in baseball.

Who are the comparable trades to Acuna that are going for light returns? He’s the perfect combination of production, control, and reasonable contract. It would take a godfather offer, as it should. The closest comparable would probably be when the Nats dealt Soto, and they did receive a package comparable to what is proposed here for Acuna. -

He’s been solid, but he’s still a bit inconsistent. He’ll pitch an absolute gem, but then follow it up with a dud in his next start. Hopefully, that’s something that will improve. You can definitely at least see what they saw in him. He may the victim of a numbers game when Cortes returns, as Priester or Miz is likely going to have to go down. -
I was pretty concerned at first but he did continue to pitch. Wouldn’t think with those score they would have had him continue if they had any doubt or concern at all.

Wouldn’t that apply to every contract situation? Yet buyouts still happen — I’m assuming because in a lot of cases the buyout money plus a new deal from a new team is better than the total amount of the old deal from the old team.

Luke Adams is intriguing, but he’s still likely a year away. Tyler Black has crossed into “not a viable prospect” territory for me.

Someone that understands this stuff better than me, why wouldn’t the Bucks have tried to buy out Lillard’s contract rather than just a release and eating the whole thing? Is it because they wouldn’t have been able to then use the stretch provision to sign Turner? Or because Lillard isn’t in a great bargaining spot right now to enter free agency because of his injury and thus wouldn’t have been open to a buyout? Or something else?

Not saying you’re wrong about MLF in general, but he was always very open about wanting Aaron Rodgers back every year — to the degree where I wonder if it had any impact in us moving on from him a year later than we should have.

No real reason to think that Vaughn is going to come up and rake, but Hoskins hasn’t done much lately anyway. So, let’s see what we get. Anything north of a .750 OPS would be gravy.
