  1. Maldonado is completely justified. Glad someone finally stood up to blue.
  2. I'm really getting sick of the one-sided calls on the corners today. It's getting fairly blatant. They get the corners, we don't. It's really that simple.
  3. How is there only one out? I watched Gomez make a catch, walked out of the room, came back in, and watched Duke get a strikeout. ????
  4. Good throw and clean catch would have had him. But there's the K anyway.
  5. Is that within the unwritten rules what Simmons did, or are we allowed to bean him next AB?
  6. Not that that was an easy play, but in every way, the Khris Davis experiment is pretty much a failure.
  7. Why do people make a big deal out of Juan's 36 K's? Reynolds has 49 in 122 AB's and I don't see anyone saying that he shouldn't be an everyday option right now at 1st or 3rd because of it. Rag on his defense if you want, or say it's not sustainable, maybe it's possible he's a bad clubhouse guy, but a 1.002 OPS is a 1.002 OPS. If you're carrying an OPS that high, you're perfectly entitled to strike out 1/3rd of the time and still be very beneficial offensively to your team. All I'm saying is, even if you play him in the field virtually never, (just start Maldonado or Lucroy at 1st for now if Reynolds needs a day off at 1st, and/or sign Morales in June), he would still be a big benefit with the bat on a team with no offensive punch right now. Yes he may cool off but that bat would have helped us so far. If the option we kept was superior, I can understand. But Overbay is completely worthless -- harsh, yes, good guy, yes, but he just has no value.
  8. Why? The tying run is on. What good are baserunners going to do for Jeff Bianchi?
  9. Reynolds will K looking. EDIT: Or hit a weak pop-up on the infield.
  10. When you have many injuries, you have to count on your depth. When your depth is guys like Jeff Bianchi, Logan Schafer, and Lyle Overbay, you're going to struggle mightily. It's not rocket science. We're carrying a bench of a washed up 37 year old first basemen and a couple of AAA players and expecting to be able to serviceably fill in. Overbay and Bianchi would not crack another 25 man roster in baseball if they were cut today.
  11. One of the most aggressive teams at the plate and yet time after time we've watched strike 3 just fly on by today. It's like they're just completely guessing up there.
  12. "Right there it looks like he's safe". No Rock. No it does not.
  13. Bianchi still sporting a respectable .336 OBP. Whoops, my bad, that's his OPS.
  14. If you're going to swing away 3-0 with nobody on down multiple runs, you had better do more than hit a lazy pop-up.
  15. You can tell this offense is really close to breaking out, with all the pop-ups and such.
  16. How do you watch the opposing pitcher walk 3 batters and then hack at the first pitch to end the inning?
  17. People also tend to mistakenly think that there is automatically a correlation between getting healthy and getting hot. Not true. If you play over your head to get to 30-20, (for example), and get healthier, it doesn't necessarily bear true that your next 50 games will be even better. I remember thinking going into last May, after a so-so April, that adding A-Ram back to the lineup would mean good things in May.
  18. Bianchi and Overbay are two of the biggest roster wastes in baseball.
  19. If you predict a straight win and they don't win you don't get paid, regardless of whether or not it went to extras.
  20. When I predict a win early on they win. I'm 5 for 5 now in game threads. viewtopic.php?f=65&t=31184 Post 2 PrinceFielderx1: "We're going to win this game also." http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?id=340422108
  21. RR had both Lucroy and Madonado in the starting lineup yesterday, so I don't think he's to tethered to that. That's different. They're both in the game, so if the C goes down, the other can move behind the plate. Yeah they can, but I've seen Roenicke use his backup C as a PH plenty of times, particularly when Kottaras was backup. I don't think he's concerned about the backup catcher problem especially since they didn't have a replacement on hand when Maldonado was suspended. Macha was pretty big on that and I don't know if he ever actually did use a catcher as a PH.
  22. It's amazing how years and years of statistics proving that your chances of scoring one run actually decrease after a successful sac bunt putting a runner on 2nd from 1st does not deter managers from still thinking it's the right call.
  23. You really have to reach to find a compliment for Overbay when you gush for 2 minutes about how great that double play was and how most 1st baseman would have stepped on 1st, etc. etc.
