  1. False. Definitely top 10 for me, maybe top 5. Well they were number 3 last year, and Segura is definitely an upgrade over what they were throwing out there at SS most of last year. Maybe not best in MLB, but I would say best offense in the NL when at full strength.
  2. Feels kind of miraculous that we got 6 IP and 3 runs out of Estrada tonight. Not bad, considering he did not really have it tonight.
  3. I'm sure we all miss having Fielder in the lineup, but I'm glad we're not the ones paying him $24M a year. We still had the best offense in the NL last year.
  4. Weeks' remarks translated basically says that he would rather be followed in the lineup by guys that can drive him in, a sentiment probably shared (silently) by Aoki, Segura, and Braun.
  5. 5-3 would look a lot better right now. Gonzalez and Gomez need to get the job done with Lucroy on 3rd. Gonzalez has to be one of the worst everyday starters in MLB right now.
  6. Stop trying to steal/hit and run with Braun at the plate, RR. That's just stupid.
  7. Impressive inning! Kind of wish we would've found a way to get that runner in from 3rd with nobody out for the 5th run, though. I hope that doesn't come back to bite us.
  8. I think it really depends where you are as an organization. If you're a rebuilding doormat, you can afford and should afford to be patient with your talent if there's nothing left to be gained in the minors for them. If you're a top contender already, you probably will tend to have more of a "productivity now" mentality and avoid rushing guys up before they're 100% ready to be productive. To me, we're in a position where it's all about ceiling and upside. Our rotation is currently Gallardo, Lohse, and then question marks. But of those question marks, only Peralta has the upside to be a #2 starter. If he turns into one, that probably pushes us over the hump and makes us contenders. No disrespect to Fiers, but he's a #4 ceiling guy. I'm less likely to be patient with one of them if they're struggling. It's a lot easier to find and develop a #4/#5 starter in your minor league system than a #1/#2.
  9. "The Brewers are finally getting the Yuni B of old that they were used to." What?
  10. I wonder if George K would be the everyday first baseman right now if he was still on the roster.
  11. I really have no problem with it, especially on a no-risk minor league deal, but the snide, sarcastic part of me wants to say, "Yeah, this'll fix our pen."
  12. Looking forward to June...True or False. This is the best lineup in baseball: 1) Aoki 2) Segura 3) Braun 4) Ramirez 5) Hart 6) Lucroy 7) Weeks 8) Gomez
  13. We have a horrible pitching staff. It's gone on too long and at some people, someone needs to be held accountable for it. Either Kranitz can't get anything out of these guys, or Melvin is not supplying any talent. This is no longer acceptable, especially against a weak offense like the Giants.
  14. I don't mean to be a buzz kill, but with our pitching staff, we'll need to add on 3 or 4 more before I start feeling comfortable.
  15. It has to be sharing the same number as the eventual Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera!
  16. Normally that strategy would upset me, but with the way Axford has pitched this year, I'm scared to see him in the game at all.
  17. I feel bad for him. I was really hoping that they would win a World Series for him in his lifetime but neither the present or the future are looking too promising at the moment. And obviously he doesn't have a ton of years left.
  18. If they were 15 under at that point, they would be 19-34. Assuming they need 90 wins to reach the playoffs, they would need to go 71-38 to finish the season at that point, or a .651 winning percentage. The best team in MLB last year had an overall winning percentage of .605.
  19. It's plenty early. The problem is that it problem isn't going to get better real quickly. This roster as currently constructed with all the injuries is probably one of the worst in the league. They have to at least stay within striking distance of .500. If they bury themselves too far (10 to 15 games or more out by June), they aren't coming back.
  20. Based on what? As I recall, most were very excited to have K-Rod and Axford for the 8th and 9th. I don't think anyone thought it would be a complete disaster, that's for sure.
