  1. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect a guy with 0 RBI's on the season to do in a situation like that.
  2. I think it was probably because Greinke threw an awful 0-2 slider that hung right up over the middle of the plate.
  3. Agreed with all that Peralta has not been very good this year, but who from the AAA rotation has? I'd rather see what he has at the MLB level in a season that isn't looking like a playoff season anyway, rather than just plugging Fiers or Vargas in there.
  4. I hate MLB blackout restrictions. The main point of it is to encourage you to watch it on your local station, but if your local station isn't televising it, too bad so sad.
  5. I also agree with Hart at 1st. Seeing Izturis here every day is so painful. This isn't a good matchup, but even though they won't show it, they're starting to approach a point in the season where they're getting desperate for a win. If they don't get one today, it's not all that unrealistic that they could enter June at 15 games below .500 -- a 1-6 road trip in Arizona and L.A. isn't out of the question. You can't dig yourself too deep of a hole, even with most of the season still in front of us.
  6. I'm at the point where I would settle for any living human not named Cesar Izturis starting at shortstop just to avoid seeing him out there. Experience playing SS preferred, but not required.
  7. Dillard has not been THAT bad this year. Certainly not as bad as he has been painted out to be.
  8. I actually thought he was starting to figure it out tonight when he ripped that double to center. Then he proceeded to swing at a pitch literally about 4 feet outside in the 8th inning for his unsurprising 3rd strikeout of the game.
  9. Seriously, could he really be any worse than Izturis at this point? Could some bum off the street really be any worse than Izturis at this point?
  10. "Izzy" is like last year's Wil Nieves, except Nieves only played 1 out of every 5 days, not every day.
  11. Cesar Izturis has to be one of the worst everyday starters in baseball. We literally have a guy in the front office who would be a better everyday shortstop in the lineup.
  12. "Giants willing to concede the run". Absolutely no need for that with Rickie at the plate and a runner on 3rd.
  13. Great start....really keeping this juggernaut Giants offense in check.
  14. FWIW, Fangraphs has Ransom as about exactly an average defender at SS for his career in UZR and UZR/150. Probably not worth much considering his limited playing time in his career, but I don't think he's a butcher.
  15. Still none of this explains why Dillard wasn't used before Perez. Dillard isn't anyone's favorite guy, but he's a little too trampled on for a mop-up guy with a 4.26 ERA. I think almost everyone would agree that they would have felt a lot better about him than Juan Perez. In extra innings at home, the one and only objective in the top half of any inning is to preserve the tie long enough to win it in the bottom half. Roenicke did that, up until the point where he decided that Perez was his best remaining option.
