  1. Not that anyone could have expected it to last forever, but it feels like Vaughn magic is starting to fade a bit. Hopefully I just reverse jinxed him into a 3 run homer in his next AB.
  2. Hopefully Priester settles down because he wasn’t fooling anyone in the 1st. Pretty lucky to only give up 2. Opposite of what we needed from him today with a taxed pen.
  3. Not a good start at all for Priester. Loses command coming in, lets Lindor get a huge lead and then gives up the dribbler and there’s an easy run just like that.
  4. Basically they can be a contender if X number of things from this list happen: stay relatively healthy, Love improves and plays at Pro Bowl level, Golden looks legit, Van Ness finally looks like something not resembling a bust and they’re able to start generating a pass rush without blitzing, and the offensive line meshes well and holds up. But there’s 20 teams in the league with a “we can contend if X number of things happen from this list.”
  5. We were barely good enough for a 7 seed in the NFC last year. Our signings were Nate Hobbs and Mecole Hardman, and Aaron Banks, and we lost Jaire and others. I honestly don’t expect us to be a serious contender.
  6. Dude got a contract about half the value of our entire franchise and our closer that was just some bum pitcher with the Cubs a few years ago just made him looks silly. Gotta love it.
  7. Bum ass Frankie Montas has an ERA over 6? I don’t know if it’s worse that we had him start a Game 2 playoff game last year, or worse that he somehow suckered someone into giving him another 20Mish per season.
  8. I don’t understand why he was so gassed from the get-go. I get he’s not stretched out to go 7, but is his conditioning that bad right now?
  9. Although Marte’s old wheels kind of came in handy last night.
  10. It was closer, but it was still a ball. And it directly resulted in a run not scoring.
  11. To be fair, Tobias has probably gotten the most impactful call so far tonight. They just need to get the robot or challenge system implemented already so we can stop witnessing this garbage night after night. Even the staunchest traditionalist knows that it is inevitable.
  12. I guess the umpire felt like he needed to make the one on Lindor up on Yelich. That was freaking terrible.
  13. Tobias caught a huge break on that call. That could have easily been 2-0 with the bases still loaded and no end in sight.
  14. Not great. Another poor umpire with a tight zone isn’t helping.
  15. Who? Seems like we did what almost every team does, a minor move here and a minor move there. The team who made the biggest move was Seattle and they got squat out of it so far.
  16. 5 games up. We gotta win the division and get that top 2 seed. I don’t want anything to do with a 3 game playoff series this year.
  17. Anyone still totally not ok with Yelich seeing the pine sometimes against lefties? That was absolutely atrocious.
  18. It honestly probably won’t be a problem at all. It’s not like it’s a bad thing if Collins, Yelich, Chourio, Turang, Vaughn, Contreras, and Frelick all get one day off a week or so down the stretch. Durbin is already getting more days off than that. So they’ll sprinkle in Perkins, Jansen, and Hoskins when the other guys need a break. Monasterio, Seigler, and Lockridge probably take the biggest hits if everybody is fully healthy but that’s fine. They are bench players. And that’s just if everyone is fully healthy.
  19. I’m no big fan of Hoskins, and I agree whatever is best for the team should be done. With that said, if you evaluate them both as DH’s — bat only, it is very hard to say that when a left handed pitcher is on the mound, Yelich is a better option than Rhys.
  20. It seems easy enough, but Chourio should return around the same time as Rhys. None of Collins, Chourio or Frelick should be sitting much.
  21. It doesn’t have to be a hard platoon. As the LH bat in the platoon, he’s already going to default to starting 72% of the time. Of the remaining 28% you could sit him half and play him in the OF half the time, which averages out to about a start a week in left and a day off every week, which isn’t that big of a deal and could probably be beneficial. Also I guess I just don’t really understand the logic that Hoskins is going to be understanding about being benched entirely but asking Yelich to sit a small percentage of the time against LHP starters is going to be this enormous clubhouse distraction. Hoskins is a veteran who is playing for another contract. He’s going to want to play. And obviously Yelich does too, but I think he realizes that there’s a lot of guys on the team that deserve to play and any decision made isn’t going to be easy.
  22. Discussing the Hoskins plan when he gets back — I don’t think either player is going to like this very much but I don’t know if anything makes more sense than a straight up DH platoon of Yelich and Hoskins.
