Just getting pantsed out there today when it comes to challenges.
  2. adambr2
That’s just such a bad challenge in a 1 run game where you want to have that in our pocket either for a key spot or your pitching staff in the 8th or 9th.
  3. adambr2
Now 1 for 19 in the series with RISP.

We go through this every day. The nature of game threads, not just here, is overreactions. It's not going to change. And in this case it probably is a lot because of exactly what happened yesterday in a similar scenario.

Like a power tripping mall cop frowning at the family taking pictures of the fountain, fortunately you’re here to call it out as always.
  6. adambr2
May got 5 outs that inning.

Great decision to put Hamilton at SS, Skip!
  8. adambr2
Had Robbie Ray on the ropes and completely let him off the hook with a chance to break it open. 1 for 16 with RISP. Can’t make this stuff up.
  9. adambr2
Hopefully we can stop asking why Lockridge doesn’t play more. It’s because he’s not very good,

Dillard: “Rengifo has been doing some damage against the Brewers.” Yes we know, Tim.

Not going to get away with many pitches in that location.
  12. adambr2
No one is at Winker level for me other than perhaps Gary Sheffield.
  13. adambr2
It’s not like we are just getting beat by good pitching. Ray has served up, by my count, four middle middle mistakes so far and someone finally made him pay for one. It is an uncomfortable truth, because I know he drives people nuts, but we are fortunate to have Sanchez for a backup C.

Help me understand why playing a similar but different position on the left side of the infield makes you more comfortable at the plate. I'm not saying that’s incorrect, I am just trying to understand that.
  15. adambr2
Yeah, but that isn’t unique to 3rd. His range sucks at 1st, too. He’s just not a good defender, but he can make the throws to 1st.
  16. adambr2
We miss the defense of Pratt and Ortiz but in his limited innings I’ve never once watched Vaughn play 3rd this season and thought “he can’t play 3rd”. Certainly no less than Bae can play 2nd.
  17. adambr2
Getting blown out on the road and only having to use pitchers for 7 innings is one way to rest the arms.
  18. adambr2
Okay. Regardless, he still hasn’t done enough in this league to call a 1 or even a 2 and given his performance and recent injury and velocity concerns not someone that I would blame anyone for feeling hesitant about handing the ball for a Game 2 playoff game.

He was really terrible. There’s a lot of questions. Half of his starts since June 2nd have been really bad ones. I have no problem with people being high on Harrison because when he’s good, you can see the upside. He certainly has ability. But right now, his inconsistencies limit him to a middle of the rotation guy until he can be more consistent on the road. People are calling a 3.95 career FIP/3.88 xFIP pitcher a 1/2 based on less than a dozen great starts. There were literally people in the Skubal discussion earlier this season saying Skubal would slot behind Harrison in the playoff rotation. That’s absurd, You don’t become a 1/2 in this league off a small handful of starts and we are anointing these guys too early.
  20. adambr2
The good news is now we’re getting blown out by enough to have Vaughnie chew up some outs for the pen.
  21. adambr2
Best 10 game hitting stretch for Luis Rengifo as a Brewer: .699 OPS Luis Rengifo as a Padre: .890 OPS But yeah I’m sure it’s just random baseball oscillation and has nothing to do with the hitting coaches.
  22. adambr2
“Christian Yelich grounds out softly” that should be on his ring of honor plaque someday.
  23. adambr2
They know the deal I think. Richardson probably on speed dial right now.
  24. adambr2
So Murph can come out to the postgame presser tonight and say “I’m not making any excuses for the guys, but” and then follow it with this anecdote.
  25. adambr2
No, just the first time I’ve heard someone refer to Kyle Harrison as a “#1”
