  1. Wily has not pitched since 2022. I don’t know that I would trust him for the 6th.
  2. Does he even have one single HR as a Brewer? Power versus lefties was supposed to be his calling card.
  3. A really promising start to the inning, a really stupid bunt attempt and then it was all downhill from there.
  4. Checks out that they would project us to go .500 the rest of the way, since they projected us to go 80-82 before the season.
  5. While I wouldn’t want him closing games for us, I’d still take him in our pen. It seems like he’s had horrible, horrible luck.
  6. At 86 wins now, the Brewers finishing 11-11 would get them to 97-65 which would be a franchise record. For that not to be good enough for the division and first round bye, the Cubs would need to finish 17-5. While a team winning 17 out of 22 isn’t out of the realm of realistic baseball possibility, they haven’t really looked like a team that is capable of that kind of a run.
  7. Yeah, I have no issue with the Thanasis thing. I mean he obviously isn’t good, but probably hardly any better or worse than any other 15th man. It’s not like he’s so bad that him having a roster spot is a mockery. Someone has to fill that spot. If throwing a couple million at Giannis’ brother to fill the spot makes him happy, it’s worth it.
  8. So is our 5.5 game lead over the 80-59 Phillies, whom we have the tiebreaker against, or the 6 game lead over the 80-60 Cubs, whom we lack the tiebreaker against, the bigger lead?
  9. Why? What possible purpose does Jake Bauers serve on a playoff roster? The man isn’t versatile. He hasn’t played at above a replacement level in any season since the 2018 season. The Brewers had their best stretch of the season when he was out for an extended stretch, so you can’t say his left handedness is important to the roster. There aren’t 26 better options for a playoff roster on our 40? What am I missing?
  10. I’ve tried to defend Seigler, because they clearly see something in him, but he has to be just about out of chances.
  11. Huge of the Braves to steal one tonight though and put us back 6 in the drivers seat.
  12. Totally agree. I’ve warmed up to Seigler, despite the lack of production. Bauers is a waste of a roster spot. He’s proved that not only this year but his entire career. I don’t care if he crushes a 500 foot homer in his next AB.
  13. Lockridge isn’t even with the team anymore, and Perkins had a brutal August. I don’t think anyone is really concerned anymore about finding time for our 4th and 5th outfielders.
  14. Seigler back in the lineup, and Bauers yet another start in the 5 spot. It’s like Murphy is just daring the club to let the Cubs back in the race. What is the Brewers record this year when Jake Bauers starts? I’d be willing to bet it’s not even .500, or barely over, despite the team being 30+ games over .500.
  15. Is there an effective reliever in the pen that hasn’t been used often? They’re all exhausted.
  16. Agreed. I don’t really care if the number 1 takes 93 wins or 100. That’s the goal. Don’t care about the record.
  17. I watched the last few innings of the Cubs’ game. I am definitely concerned. Other than the Giants’ series, they are feasting on the soft part of their schedule, as we feared. Worse, it just seems like their bullpen is getting stronger and hitting their stride at just the right time, whereas ours is gasping for air. I’m not saying we are going to blow it, but I don’t think we are going to shake them until the final week, and failing to capture the tiebreaker could end up making things pretty uncomfortable. I don't think we will be able to afford another 9-10 stretch.
  18. He may get it when Hoskins comes back. I would say Vaughn has gotten less breaks due to a lack of viable alternatives. I am find with a break as long as it doesn’t mean more Jake Bauers in the meantime.
