  1. This game is a microcosm of the season. Knebel not available, Hader too streaky, offense disappearing for long stretches. I wasn't as emotional involved with the team this season as most on this board, but followed closely enough to appreciate the September run and feel the punch gut at the end. However, I'll be over it this time tomorrow and will see this game as a fitting end to the season.
  2. This only the second loss this year when the win probability was > 90%, which I think is remarkable. Too bad it came at a high leverage point in the season.
  3. I thought that was strictly an NFL thing? The NFL defines it clearly in their rule book.
  4. Monday afternoon I leave Milwaukee for a business trip to South Carolina. When this was scheduled two weeks ago, I gave little thought other than I hate business travel. If the Brewers clinch Wednesday evening, I will be simultaneously happy and resentful. Gawd, I've missed so many big moments due to work over the years.
  5. They get last pick?? Surely, someone on this board played college ball. Some insight?
  6. Wisconsin does not use "I" and "O".
  7. Can you find a copy of the CBA online? Years ago I came across a hard copy in one of the UW Library stacks. Interesting read...if you're a geek.
  8. Last Sunday I went to that show for the first time in years. Just not the same without my favorite dealer, Mike Rodell. He passed a few years ago. He had all kinds of team sets for the Brewers and he was my go-to guy. Also had an extensive Braves collection. What I noticed was several dealers with copious 50's and 60's stuff to sell. Didn't see any factory sets or team sets.
  9. I'm just going to assume you are joking...how is the poutine? Just say that nothing outside Montreal matches their poutine. Similar to finding a brat outside of Wisconsin.
  10. I think that show is long gone. There's something at The Radisson in the Falls monthly, but a shell of what the Gonzaga shows were.
  11. I was busy last week, I wasn't aware I was away from brewerfan for so long. I probably caught part or all of say 30 of the 54 matches. Ditto for four years ago. My take away is Rose Lavelle. I cannot believe I didn't see her play once with the Badgers, BTN and all. I was familiar with the name, but thought there better players on the team. Then she's the top pick in the pro draft, then she makes the WC team, then she's in the starting lineup. All surprises to me. But even before the final, I found her to be in the next tier of players behind Morgan and Rapinoe. I'd put her in the top five for the Americans.
  12. I walk about 2.5 miles per day in the summer months, and this happens to me frequently. I forgot to add on Wisconsin avenue. In residential neighborhoods it happens quite frequently. As a runner/biker, I have seen this with increasing frequency the last three or four years. I guess people are becoming cognitive of crosswalks. The reason? Not sure. Possibly due to the number of media reports of pedestrians and bikers struck and killed?

    NBA Finals

I had a severe case of Achilles Tendinosis. I was told I may never be able to competitively run again. PT did little. The inflammation finally cleared after about nine months of avoiding impact activities. We're not even talking about a tear.

You're only allowed 3 subs during World Cup games. So, 8 starters played the entire game. Anyway, excited to watch the Ladies on Sunday. Might try to head down to the Deer District if they are putting the game on outside. Looks to be a beautiful day here in MKE. After more than a week, finally back on the board. Maybe see you there, unless I find a spot at The Nomad first. Tuesday, made my first trip to the Deer District to watch the match this thread is about. I ended up at The Mecca, after the hostess at Punch Bowl Social had no idea what was going on. As someone who watched the game progress "live", I don't see the problem with the thirteen goals. A few of them the result of world class individual efforts. I guess the only celebration I had an issue with was Rapinoe's. She is one who has "been there before", plus the game was out of hand. Post-game, all the former players turned analysts on FOX and FS1 were unanimous in their opinion that nothing was excessive. For the one comment "show respect for your opponent by playing hard until the end" is something I'm not quite sure I'm in agreement.
  15. Randomly channel surfing today and came across old episodes of "In Living Color". The first episode I see is the debut of Season 3. Host Keenen Ivory Wayans introduces the new Fly Girl dancer "from the Bronx, NY - Jennifer Lopez". I wouldn't have recognized her. Afterwards, he introduces the newest supporting cast member "standup comic Jamie Foxx". Foxx has an Oscar, Lopez three AMA awards. Every skit I watched was funny. Maybe cross thread this to "Best TV Shows" thread?
  16. Well, I was personally in attendance for two championship victories. Then again, I'm willing to take in interest in niche sports. IMO, BC > Arena. I did snap some pictures a couple of weekends ago. OTOH, I'm not lamenting it no where near the level of County Stadium.
  17. Barry isn't that interested in the non-revenue sports. It takes a lot for him to get more aggressive with regard to those sports. I believe Barry once stated a list of sports which would be a focus of emphasis. I believe men's football, basketball, hockey and CC. Women's volleyball, basketball, hockey and CC. Spent money to increase the seating capacity for volleyball. OTOH, yes not very aggressive in dealing with the ongoing women's basketball coaching situation over the years.
  18. No, not the men's side, but the women's side. Megan Gustafson quietly had herself an outstanding college career culminating into a POY award. Nice to see someone who grew up in rural northern Wisconsin make it big. DSHA's Arike Ogunbowle also an All-American. Two of the top-five college players nationally from Wisconsin. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-women/article/2019-04-06/iowas-megan-gustafson-wins-naismith-player-year-award
  19. As a amateur mathematician myself, I think road and away are played consecutive weeks is because it is just easier to schedule the games.
  20. I find it funny the Cubs board has a "2019 NEGATIVITY THREAD".
  21. Allow me to clarify, I don't see a repeat of (Aguilar) and (Yelich's final six weeks). I can't see Jesus repeating the first half he had last year.
  22. Sorry, but I see a slight regression to the mean. I don't see a repeat of Aguilar and Yelich's final six weeks. 90 wins.
  23. I'm with Patrick on this one. Besides, it's a work day. I'll will catch most of the re-broadcast at night.
