  1. Thank you. Let's think about this for a second. Ryan Braun takes PED's = 71+ page thread, 35 pages after his suspension Yo drinks and drives, could have killed someone = 11 page thread In only one of these threads was the player was called almost every name under the sun and people made requests that the player be sent out of Milwaukee. PED speculation has transformed ESPN, Yahoo and others into US Weekly and TMZ and a lot of fans are eating this up for whatever reason. Braun screwed up and he lied, something I know I have done in my past and as much as I hate to admit it I will probably do again. The only difference is that Braun's actions were very public. However, my views on this subject have changed over the years and now I don't feel like I can really pass judgment on Ryan since I have never been in his situation. None of us have ever been put in a situation where if we took a pill, which would never show up in a drug test, you have the chance to be stronger/ recover from an injury faster/ etc and potentially make millions of dollars playing the game you love. There is a reason many retired players, including Robin Yount, have said they would have been tempted too if this option was available to them during their playing days which is all the more reason why others like Kirk Gibson look extremely foolish for what he is saying. For all the players who were tempted and said no, I give them a lot of respect. However, it is literally insane to want him forever banished from the team just because Ryan wasn't as strong as others. Unfortunately, some in this thread are taking this very personally and are blowing this situation way out of proportion. As a final note, I hope MLB is realizing that this entire situation is turning some fans like me off from watching baseball. Bud has determined that his swan song as commissioner will be acting tough on PED's so people forget he was complacent for so many years. However, in order to get this he has given deals to drug dealers, filed frivolous lawsuits, leaked an insane amount of confidential information, and made it open season for speculation on PED users. The NFL has PED users too, but you don't see Goodell doing anything close to Bud's public war on PED's.
  2. So this former friend who is suing Braun is currently enrolled in an online law school that is not accredited by the American Bar Association. This school's own website says "Study at, or graduation from, this law school may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or to satisfy the requirements for admission to practice in jurisdictions other than California." He is also doing this pro se. My guess is that no actual attorney would touch this suit with a 10 foot pole. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/220280431.html
  3. It's also very possible for both Braun and the collector to be a scum-bags as well and not one or the other. Not saying it is true or even likely, but up until late 2011 everyone thought Ryan Braun was a stand-up guy. Just because we later found out Braun is not does not mean that everyone else involved with is automatically a saint. Even if the collector was an anti-semite, it wouldn't matter because Braun was caught in a very public lie with everything else.
  4. I'm disappointed but I'm not in "outraged" camp. I just hope he learns a lesson from this. So does this mean he is on strike one or two? I'm sure the details will come out later but I wonder if he is a screw-up from being out of the game.
  5. To show how much MLB truly has it out for Braun and A-Rod in trying to suspend them 100 games consider the Melky Cabrera situation. Not only did Melky deny using PED's but he also created a fake website to further is excuse for failing the drug test. MLB acutually had to investigate this website to see if it was legit including purchasing phony products from the website during the investigation. What Melky did went far and beyond anything Braun has done (that we have knowledge of) in terms of deceit and lying to MLB investigators yet he only got a 50 game suspension. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/10/if-melky-cabreras-phony-website-didnt-warrant-a-100-game-suspension-how-can-ryan-braun-get-one/
  6. Random thought here and feel free to tell me if I'm way off base but the longer this goes on I get the feeling that MLB will weakly attempt to suspend these players with full knowledge that the suspensions will not stick. This way they put on a big show acting tough on PED's while deflecting blame for their hands being tied on MLBPA/ the arbitrator/ (insert name of additional scapegoat here). I believe this because if the MLB actually had something on these guys this information would have been leaked rather than the fact that they players aren't talking. MLB is also probably mad that these guys won't talk so to throw suspension at them and to tarnish their names, especially for Braun, is probably just an added bonus for them.
  7. Just saw this interesting Brett Lawrie update. The Jays plan on keeping him down in the minors even when he is healthy until he starts hitting. http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2013/7/2/4488074/brett-lawrie-to-stay-in-minors-once-healthy
  8. Cubs DFA Marmol http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/25/cubs-designate-carlos-marmol-for-assignment/
  9. It would seem small claims court is your best bet. If you do go with an attorney their fees will more than likely eat up most if not all of the $500 you would recover. This way you can represent yourself, force this guy to answer for what he has done, and if he doesn't show up you win.
  10. I believe RR said this will be the case until K-Rod gets his 300th save.
  11. That was great, thanks for reposting it. It was all very interesting but especially this quote in particular: People should think of this fact before they start to worry that MLB will just hire some arbitrator that will automatically would side with him. If Das ruled for against MLB in Braun's case, any arbitrator that is worth anything (and they don't get to that point without being very good) should have much less of an issue siding against MLB when their best evidence is a lair, his testimony, and his records.
  12. Here is also more proof that ESPN's report was nothing more than garbage: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/52104952/ns/sports-baseball/
  13. Just a question from a guy who hasn't read the books and didn't get involved in the show until last year: are the books that different from the show? I am always looking for a new book to start so I am wondering if it pays to start reading them after knowing all that I know now from the show.
  14. So apparently another source has said that a suspension is not "imminent" and that MLB plans to interview all the players by the end of the month. Only after the interviews will MLB decide whether or not to discipline and if so for how long. It sounds like a more rational approach but who knows. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/05/major-league-baseball-has-not-yet-decided-to-discipline-biogenesis-players/
  15. You do realize that typically in agreements like these the arbitrator has to be approved by both parties, especially considering this is a joint agreement between the MLB and MLBPA. If it isn't the case then the MLBPA has the worst attorneys in the country.
  16. Exactly! It's equally amazing that this "new" information is enough for some on this board to convict Braun once and for all. The only real news that came out last night is 1) Bosch was pressured enough to cooperate and 2) MLB is delusional if they think they get another 50 games for someone lying. Everything else was just ESPN recycling their previous story. They haven't even sat down and talked to Bosch yet so MLB literally has nothing more than what they did the last time around. It will take the dust settling from this story before my opinion changes one way or another.
  17. I just read the CBA and I really don't know how they could. To suspend for a performance enhancing drug the agreement states they need to show use or possession of a banned substance. I don't see how lying about it equates use or possession. There is also a provision that allows the Commissioner to suspend someone for "just cause" for abusing prohibited substance but lying about it does not equate using a prohibited substance. I think they are threatening with 100 with the hopes that the players take the 50 without appealing.
  18. Not only this but MLB is essentially granting a drug dealer complete immunity in order to punish the users. If that isn't backwards I don't know what it.
  19. I agree completely. Even if Braun is suspended I have lost all respect for MLB. Also, ninja33 was currect, MLB agreed to drop their lawsuit if he cooperated.
  20. I'm sorry but do your really believe this? Playing bad baseball does not mean that they aren't trying to win games.
  21. It will be interesting to see if this actually flies. I am willing to guess this will be litigated heavily by those suspended.
  22. Reading this instantly made me start singing the first part of Bohemian Rhapsody in my head.
  23. At this rate we will have another 4 inning outing from Yo. He is quickly becoming my least favorite Brewers.
  24. I'm on episode 10 (having bad weather on Memorial Day helped) and I like it. However, I agree that the show has suffered by not having all the characters together at once. I have barely seen Buster at all. I also did not initially recognize Portia de Rossi in the new season. I was shocked to see how much she has changed.
