  1. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/11/27/marvin-miller-1917-2012/ It's inexcusable that he is not in the Hall of Fame.
  2. I think part of the reason Braun was not left off any ballots is because all of the ballots were made public. Also, I think worst ballot of the year goes to Tracy Ringolsby from Foxsports.com. Highlights from that ballot include Craig Kimbrel 2nd, McCutchen 7th and Yadier Molina 10th!
  3. Location is hardly irrelevant, if it was, why would these players all have full no trade clauses while many other have limited ones? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/05/players-with-full-notrade-clauses.html (Its an old list but still proves a point) Once players hit free agency they want to control where they play. If Miami is refusing to hand out no trade clauses while pulling moves like this, players are going to be very hesitant to sign there.
  4. I'm guessing no big name free agents will ever want to come to Miami as long as Loria is the owner unless they receive a full no-trade clause. Pujols has to be feel pretty good about passing on Miami because they didn't want to give him one. I'm wondering how Reyes feels about this deal since but then again I don't feel that bad for him because he should have known that this could happen without a no-trade clause.
  5. The DH is nothing but an entitlement program for pitchers who only want to do half the work and collect a full paycheck!!! Edit: For all the awful ads I was subjected to watch the past few months, it would be hilarious to see someone create some pro and anti-DH political ads.
  6. I vote no on the DH. It will help stem outrageous contracts that come from American League teams. Without the DH, players like Fielder and Pujols can't just count on an AL team to dish out 9-10 year contracts because those players will actually have to play defense when they are in their late 30's.
  7. A-Ram didn't win either. Congrats to JJ Hardy though.
  8. Batting .192 in the three playoff series before this year isn't exactly "solid."
  9. I wish he would wait and sign a one day contract in order to retire as a Brewer. I'll never forget his 2 hit complete game on opening day 2007 against the Dodgers.
  10. here is a link: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=24378705&topic_id=8879232&c_id=mil Interesting to hear from Bud that Steinbrenner tried to hire Uke away at one point. I'm sure there is many stories like that which we will never hear about.
  11. It's up to .310 now.... Sad thing is, Wolf will probably get a job with some team next year, pitch one game against the Brewers and completely shut them down.
  12. Hopefully Doug will take things into his own hands and just release Izturis.
  13. Yea Rosen is awful. But I think being awful at discussing sports is a prerequisite for being on Minnesota sports talk radio. Paul Allen is a perfect example of that.
  14. I thought he replaced Stanton who had knee surgery the other day.
  15. Tim Lincecum currently has the worst ERA of all starters who qualify for the ERA title at 6.42. Any chance the Giants would take an "upgrade" and do a Randy Wolf for Lincecum deal? Seriously though, what are the odds the Giants keep him in the rotation while they try to compete for a playoff spot?
  16. Way to battle back Ax. Glad to head into the All-Star break with a win.
  17. Also considering his spot was up with no one on base. Seriously there is no logic to taking him out with the game as close as it is.
  18. Why pull Estrada after 3 innnings? I'd rather have him out there than anyone in our bullpen.
  19. The replay made it seem like he saw it and he took about 3 seconds to digest everything before the ump came to the conclusion that he should be offended. Its amazing how inconsistent and subjective umpiring has become. I have seen batters slam down their helmets many times after looking at strike 3 and never get tossed. Apparently this umpire's feelings get hurt very easily.
  20. Before I turned on the game I checked the boxscore and when I saw Greinke didn't get out of the 1st I immediately thought he was injured. I was happy to hear it was just an ejection.
  21. Well there was a man on 1st and 3rd with a lefty up and one out. Weeks was shifted way to the right but Ransom was not. There was no reason to shift Rickie to that extreme unless Roenicke really didn't care about the run at third.
  22. That was so stupid I am literally speechless. Is it Roenicke or Jerry Narron that shifts the infield defense?
  23. Are you saying that a 36 year old with an ERA currently at 5.78 would get $8.5 million in the open market? If they don't pick his option and still want him they could resign him at a much lower price than $8.5 million.
