  1. I've always felt that our real mascots are the racing sausages, not Bernie. I don't come to the games for a mascot, its just an added bonus. Bernie is just fine for me.
  2. I missed the first few minutes or so but the new one definately had its moments, especially with Andy. Favortie line went to Creed with "Who's your OBGYN?"
  3. I have. It the beef patty was very dried out and there was way too much mayo. Nothing special,
  4. I believe you are reading that article wrong, I think he is saying that Kendall's defense has been subpar.
  5. Why make Hall the first option at second versus lhp? I think McGehee deserves to be in the lineup almost every day with Cousell playing 2b occasionally. I personally would only have Hall as a pinch hitter / late inning defensive replacement for Gamel with maybe an occassional start vs lhp. Gamel deserves a shot to play every day as well for a least a few series in a row. Cameron would to me seem to be out of place as a leadoff hitter, just because he has speed doesn't mean he should lead off. Would much have Counsell or McGehee lead off as they seem to get on base better than Cameron, especially since he has been struggling lately.
  6. Link According to the article his rehab was going well and he had thrown 11 scoreless innings in his last two rehab starts. "Glavine was due a $1 million bonus if the Braves added him to the active roster and would have received another $1.25 million after 90 days." Could be worth a shot, I'm guessing Melvin will give his agent a call.
  7. Put me down for the Carlos Lee Bobble, thanks!
  8. Put me down for the barrel man, thanks!
  9. I'd also like to throw in Abba's Waterloo and Dancing Queen. I was forced to watch Mamma Mia by my girlfriend and listeing to Pierce Bronsnan sing might be considered a form of torture.
  10. 'If ownership didn't ask for it, why volunteer it? It's probably not that big a deal.' This quote from the article kind of struck a nerve with me. Maybe im reading this wrong, but it is almost like the players union are children looking for their owner parents to tell them what they should and should not do. Its like the players union can't give an inch up unless they are force to do so by the owners. Instead of taking the lead in the fight on steriods, they waited for it to hit the fan before anything was done. I believe the article when it implies that Bud and Don probably knew something was happening, but they didn't know how prevalent it was. It is just sad people turned a deaf ear to this for so long.
  11. Yea but remember at the time, Aaron's breaking Ruth's record wasn't a great thing to everone. Alot of fans, and probably players too, didn't want to see Aaron break Ruth's record because of race. If there was any hint of him using steroids you could of bet one of these players would have been motivated to tell to stain Aaron's accomplishment. There was such a microscope on him too I just don't see how something like steriod use could have not been noticed. That and wouldn't some broke ex-teamate, clubhouse worker, friend, etc be motivated if they knew he was using. Alot of money could be made with that alligation.
  12. So does this leave the Dodgers with no other choice but to sign Manny?
  13. Management will play a huge roll even if there is a salary cap. There is a reason why the Lions and Raiders are so bad, they make bad personel decisions. As with the NBA, there are still really good teams and really bad teams.
  14. I bartended through college. It pays great if you can handle the smoke.
  15. If this is your outlook then you really aren't giving Melvin much credit. He already is quoted saying that if CC falls through he would rather trade for one than attempt to sign one as a free agent so our involvenment in free agency is going to be limited, which seems to be the case every year. Also, all the rumors coming out seem to be saying that the Brewers actually have a legitmate shot at getting him. I've at least heard more rumors about him wanting to resign with the Brewers than I have of his desire to play for the Yankees. It just seems like we will have to up our deal a little. I would honesly be more worried if I were the Yankees. Their off season plans are more focused on free agency than the Brewers. Throwing out a record deal to a guy and have him sit on it for weeks is very telling. If Burnett goes elsewhere before CC makes up his mind and CC doesn't sign with them then what do they do? Their rotation needs just as much help as ours this offseason.
  16. Melvin has been in the game long enough to know whether or not he has a shot with a player or not and can recognize when an agent is using him for leverage. Plus I don't think that would really matter in this situation since nobody is more than likely going to outbid the Yankees.
  17. Isn't this same thinking what gave the Detroit Lions the Matt Millen era? While I agree I liked him on Baseball Tonight, being able to talk baseball doesn't always translate into managerial success. I would love to see him get a T.V. gig somewhere though.
  18. Ugh, Rickie. I cringe every time a ball is hit your way.
  19. CC already had made the "extraordinary effort" because he had the ball he just simply dropped it before he threw. If he would have used his glove he would have still had enough time to throw him out, the replay showed he wasn't even half way to first when he dropped the ball. The scorer was just hoping that the Pirates would have got another hit so it would be a moot point. He was just too stubborn to admit he made the wrong call.
  20. Remember CC has had seven days since his last start, so Yost might be tempted to let him try and go all nine if he keeps throwing well.
  21. I would agree with guide lines more than a specific size and shape, at the least, have a minimum distance. You can still be unique in regards to designing a ballpark with size restrictions. I would even argue to take it further and also restrict minor league parks. Not only does Houston's flag pole need to go but it seems that any long fly ball in left field is a home-run. I also like the worldwide draft, if they want to play here, give everyone a chance like the NBA does.
  22. They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time Russell Branyan homers, every time.
  23. Does anyone have an estimate on how much prison time he faces if convicted?
