  1. "just MIGHT pick up a broom at walgreen's." This one definitely feels like a win for the Crew. The Brewers are streaking, the Cubs are scuffling, and our ace is on the mound. All that said, please don't tempt fate and bring a broom with you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. I just hope this isn't one of those start/stop affairs, where Sheets pitches two innings and then we have an hour and a half rain delay. Hopefully it either rains, or doesn't.
  3. The Cubs just got their guts ripped out, and I guess I'm the only guy not ready to anoint Rich Hall as the second coming. The Crew is rolling downhill right now, this game had better not get rained out, because you can book it as a "W" if they play tonight. Work those counts, fellas - the Chubs bullpen is even more worn out than ours.
  4. Sweet Christ. I don't think I've wanted a game that badly since 1982. I'm officially a believer. And if I could give Villanueva the contents of my wallet right now, I would. Good night, all.
  5. How perfect would a Gross HR be here, given how badly we all wanted Nedly to hit for him earlier tonight?
  6. Cubs still haven't used their best pinch hitter - Marquis.
  7. "AROD is unreal" Ah Christ, now the Cubs have A-Rod?
  8. Gotta get something going in the 8th if they're gonna win this one. Jenks/Gross/Counsell in the 9th inning, down two runs w/ their closer in, equals a loss.
  9. "Anybody else a little worried that the brewers might push a little too hard to beat up on Z?" Not really. Maybe last year, when the lineup was awfully green, but I think they'll have good at bats throughout the order. Billy Hall hasn't shied away from this Zambrano stuff when asked about it, and has some good quotes in today's MJS regarding this topic. Big game tonight, IMO. Not only is it the "Zambrano, eat your filthy words" Game, but to open a series in Wrigley against our rivals by beating their ace with our #5 starter would bode very well indeed. Couple that with a tough loss to the Cards on Sunday, and we could be in prime position to dust off the "Sweep Suits"...
  10. Suppan is going to earn more than $10M next year. He won't do so as a Brewer. Good P.R. work by Melvin to keep our name in the mix for quality free agents, just as it was to make a good faith offer to El Caballo before dealing him. I look forward to Suppan signing with the Mets for something on the order of $13.5M/year, and seeing the writers for the Post crucify him two months into next season when he comes out of the gate at 2-6.
  11. "I hate to say it, but we are back in the wildcard race." And I hate to hear you say it, because the reality is the odds are still about 1 in 20. Let's just enjoy the moment.
  12. Seven scoreless innings from the pen. Great googly moogly!
  13. "He has been very productive since coming to the team." Well, this is pretty clearly his best game as a Brewer. Now and forever.
  14. Trade market for Jenkins continues to heat up.
  15. "I would have rather had Gonzalez bat for himself than have to watch Turnbow pitch." Uh, the reason we hit Miller for the pitcher is so Cordero pitches, not Turnbow.
  16. Time for Ned to play a hunch and stick Turnbow back in the closer's role.
  17. Gimme Coco in the bottom half, whatever happens.
  18. If they don't hit Miller for the pitcher, I'm going to freak out.
  19. Alright, seriously guys, this is the worst team in the National League, let's scratch out a freaking run here.
  20. I'll go ahead and call it. If the Brewers survive the 12th, they win this game.
  21. Don't they have their 2/3/4 hitters coming up? Why would they pinch hit Burnitz?
  22. Rivera, Jenkins, and Clark? How could we NOT score here?
