  1. Tough to get excited about Snell v Escobar, even if it looks good on paper. Cubs and Cards both likely winners today, let's not let them creep any closer to first. Oswalt pitching tonight means the Crew misses him in Milwaukee next week. What a shame. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Atta way, Zambrano. Pitch like Clemens in his prime down the stretch as the Cubs finish ten games out, then hold them up for $150M in the off-season, and wait for Brian Cashman to give you the payday you so richly deserve!
  3. Couple of comments about last night's game: 1) The Crew has won their share of white-knucklers this year - always appreciate a laugher. 2) On that note, do they really need to get CoCo warm with a five run lead, one out, and Wise on the hill in the 9th? Yeesh, Ned, take a Xanax and let Wiser get his work in. 3) Normally I'd have an uneasy feeling in my gut about using Wise in the 9th there, after burning up Villy until Sunday and using Turnbow, but he needed the work. Obviously both Wise and Turnbow should be available tonight, but hopefully the "good Bush" shows up and spares at least one of them, or they could both be on the shelf for Sunday's game. I sense a Capellan sighting tonight...
  4. Grienke's coming out of the pen now? Wasn't he one of the best starting pitching prospects in baseball like 15 minutes ago? I really don't follow the AL close enough. Soup is overdue for a cruise control outing, and I say he gets it here. I have a feeling JDLR will either be really bad, or very good (like 7 IP, 1 ER good). Even if he's very good, I think the Crew finds a way to win.
  5. Thank God the Cubs are such an awful team in one run games, or I think we'd be in second place right now, rather than 8.5 games ahead of the third place Cubs.
  6. The Rangers' pitching stinks on hot ice. Can we get a series rematch?
  7. Yessss!!! Round that number off!
  8. "Ran some numbers. Here are the average expected wins: home stand: 5.55 wins / road trip: 5.45 wins. Wow, 11 wins on the dot" Run it again, and let's see if the computer has climbed on board w/ my 12-7 prediction! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Maybe it's just my irrational hatred of the Northsiders talking, but at this particular point in the season, I'll gladly trade a Cardinals win for a Cubs loss.
  10. We clap our hands. We stomp our feet. The taste of victory is oh so sweet. Turnin' up the heat, baby.
  11. "In a 7-5 game, Ned wastes Jenks. No double switch... Geez, what happens in an extra-inning game where we need an additional guy who can actually hit off the bench?" Tell me this was supposed to be in blue.
  12. Urge to kill rising....rising...
  13. Working with a six run lead, Vargas walks the bases loaded. Let's go, Houdini.
  14. How dialed in are the Crew's bats since the no hitter? The book on the Giants was awful lineup and good pitching, but Milwaukee's hitters are lighting the San Fran pitchers on fire all series long.
  15. I know I'm jinxing him by even suggesting it, but if Sheets turns in another quality start and gets a W tonight, all of a sudden he'll have an awfully nice All Star resume. Tied for 2nd in the NL in wins, and an appropriately svelte ERA to boot. Come what may, would have been pleasantly surprised to be having this conversation a month ago.
  16. "The second picture was from magic the gathering a card called the prodigal sorceror, which for some reason was nicknamed Tim." Wow. (backs away slowly from computer)
  17. A righty on the hill equals Mench on the bench. We're off to a good start before the first pitch! I haven't seen San Fran play at all before last night, but I was surprised at how shaky their lineup is. Apparently you either have to be an aged veteran at least 5 years past your prime, or a middling prospect that shouldn't be playing every day in the bigs, in order to make their roster as a position player. Feast, Ben Sheets, I command thee!
  18. I don't suppose I can get an explanation on either one of those pictures?
  19. "And since Lowry is pitching, Mench will be in the lineup, unless Mench is hurt." Quick, somebody call Tonya Harding or Jeff Gillooly! I kid.
  20. "I'd love a series win but I'll be OK with getting just 1 there, unless the pitching match ups really favor the Brewers (Sheets and no Zambrano)." Unless the Cubs shuffle their rotation and pitch Zambrano on six days rest, the Brewers will miss him (and Lilly). And whether the Brewers skip Gallardo's spot in the rotation next time through or not, Sheets will almost certainly pitch in the Cubs series. So you're looking for two out of three, right Russ?
  21. "For the record, was Shouse actually available today? I thought someone in the chat said Powell reported he wasn't...." Twins TV guys said Shouse actually told Yost he was available for duty on Saturday. If that's true, he was obviously available on Sunday - and his arm is made of rubber.
  22. I'll take the Sheets' debut, if it comes with the Sheets' career to date (sans injuries, of course http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif).
  23. "I look forward to you sharing your over reaction with the rest of us." Fair enough, as long as I can look forward to congrats on my prognosticating abilities when the Crew goes 12-7 down the stretch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  24. I like the fact that we have seven arms in the bullpen, and the worst ERA out there is 3.86. Although I'd still like to see Melvin add a quality LOOGY between now and the trade deadline, that's a pretty solid group. Sorry, not really game-related, but that's what Woogie gets for doing an epic job of stat-posting. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif EDIT - PNut beat me to it! Shame on me for not reading all the previous posts.
