Here is what the Houston Chronicle says. 1. Cardinals 2. Cubs 3. Reds 4. Astros 5. Brewers 6. Pirates http://www.chron.com/disp...l/sports/bb/6942205.html
Let me be the first to say, Jeff Supp--- Ok but seriously, even though they didn't "release him" getting rid of Estrada was pretty good news in my mind.
5 reason's at the top of my head... 1. Carlos Gomez Can't wait to see this kid put it all together. If only for his defense alone its gonna be fun to watch. 2. Escobar Watching him play everyday will also be a real treat. Watching him score from first on doubles. Watching him make incredible plays. We have 2 of the most exciting young players in Milwaukee with Gomez and Escobar. 3. Braun and Fielder Can't wait to see these 2 get better. We have the best 1-2 punch in baseball. We really really need to enjoy these 2 hitting 3-4 in our line up. We are the envy of the league. 4. Yovani Gallaro This guy has ACE written all over him. Excited to see him turn into the stopper we all know he can be. Big big season from Yo this year. 5. Baseball being back. No more boring nights, always having something on. Being able to check box scores off the minor league teams. Watching the Twins move into target field, being able to check my fantasy team every day. 6+ months of never being bored.
I thought it would be good to have 1 thread for all the predictions by the media. I thought I would start it out right with this preview from Jon Paul Morosi from Foxsports.com http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/another-central-title-not-in-the-cards
As of right now this would be my line up for Monday 1. 2B, Rickie Weeks 2. RF, Jim Edmonds 3. LF, Ryan Braun 4. 1B, Prince Fielder 5. 3B, Casey McGehee 6. SS, Alcides Escobar 7. C, Greg Zaun 8. CF, Carlos Gomez 9. P, Yovani Gallardo
Well LaRoche has only hit 30 homers once http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But I agree. LaRoche has played (if you take out the game in Boston) in Atlanta and Pitt. He will finally be able to play in a hitters park. I really like this signing for the D-Backs.
Im sure this line up has already been posted but, here would be mine.. Weeks Escobar Braun Fielder Hart Gamel Zaun Gomez P Obviously Escobar is not the greatest guy at the top of the order however, I would like to split up Escobar and Gomez. And I think Hart will have a really good season this year.
Has anyone mentioned that there fav Dave Weathers memory was when we declined his option? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But seriously, he was pretty bad for the Brewers down the stretch, probably a good move.
Juan Pierre? Reeeally? Well first off, Gomez is alot better defensivly then Juan Pierre. Juan Pierre is/was a slap hitter. Gomez is not a slap hitter. This guy has some pop in his bat. Being six four helps but he does have undeveloped power. I have no idea why so many people are so down on this kid before he even gets a chance to play. Again, he's 23 years old. He hasn't got consistent playing time since the begining of 08. The twins never sent him to the minors because they were afraid to send the "prize" of the Johan deal down. The Twins completlly botched the development of this kid. I think Brewer fans should know first hand what its like to watch a young top prospect sit on the bench and compelty ruin that players confidence and season. (Gamel). Bill James said about Gomez last year that, is that he was worth as many total runs as alot of "all star caliber" players. That was with a .259 batting avg. and no walks and limit power numbers. Play him everyday and you have at worst a avg centerfielder. He needs to play everyday. Give him a chance and you will see how good of a player he can be. He was a huge fan fav in Minnesota, his energy and love for the game was unmatched. I really belive everyone is going to love the guy. You just need to give him a chance.
I also think its awesome that its November 6th and some people are declaring 2010 season as a "punt". Haha thats classic. But I do think its awesome that we have a 13 page thread about a move already. Hopefully this ist he first of a eventful offseason for the crew.
No, he's better than what Cameron was LAST year, and Cameron lost a step from 2008. It's reasonable to expect him to lose a bit more in 2010. Gomez' UZR/150 10.0. Cameron's UZR/150 10.3. So no. from 2008 Gomez +32 Cameron +8
