  1. 1) Green can play 2B.2) Hairston can play SS.
  2. I can hardly imagine being a Rangers fan, it would really suck having 1/3 of your teams games starting at 9pm local time.
  3. By the time the pitch was thrown Pujols was 30 feet from home plate. After the first pitch, if you need to, call time, and tell Yuni "Hey, if they are crashing before the pitch, you can swing away" Not that hard to do. Yes, and I'm sure you'll blame Kameron Loe for not getting out Chase Utley & Ryan Howard in a game, instead of blaming RR for putting Loe in that position.
  4. He's been up for over a week, still no Green #5 jersey-t's at the Brewers store. Annoying, to say the least. The "kind staff" there proceeded to try to upsell me to a $240 custom jersey.
  5. Sad part is, Braun is the same way. Both of them are just not good on anything they are camping under.
  6. that's funny because I said the exact same thing to my GF. C'mon, IGT posters don't have GF's. She's from Canada, right? Greinke with a solid outing thus far. Edit: I had to open my stupid mouth.
  7. How is that at all, in any possible way, relevant to this situation? It has to do with the fact that no matter what RR does, unless it is EXACTLY the move the certain folks think must be made, he is criticized. If he were just "riding the hot hand" he would be criticized for ignoring the big picture in favor of a small sample size. If he were to keep Green on the bench he would be critisized for not playing the best player. I'm happy Green is playing. I wanted him to play a long time ago. But it just seems like in what is looking like the best regular season in the history of the franchise, that folks have to complain about something every single day. These folks have an eye to the playoffs, where every AB and every choice is magnified. These folks want the team to have the best possible shot at the World Series. These folks can't help but wonder where the team would be if RR would've played matchups, put his players in better positions earlier in the season. These folks can't help but worry that McGehee and Betancourt will be hitting 5-6 in a playoff game.
  8. Yeah, dang that Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw, they really should've done more to make their team a winner.
  9. Yes, its all chemistry, that's why the team wins. Gehrig and Ruth hated each other, to the point where Ruth's wife despised Gehrig's mother. "You don't have to love a guy to play alongside him." ~Bill North said that about Reggie Jackson.... after they got in a fight in their own dugout. Those early 70's A's teams were pretty good. Oh, and if you want to read more, feel free. As for "Riding the hot hand": If RRR were playing Felipe Lopez instead of McGehee, yes, he would be getting railed. You see, he got railed for that for 2 weeks, Lopez hasn't been able to hit for 2 years but since he got 3 hits in his first 2 games, he was set, and Hairston couldn't see the field (and Green didn't get called up earlier to play 2B). Green had a 1.000 OPS his first time in AAA. Kid can play.
  10. I understand they could do this, but they'll make way more money doing it the way they are doing it.
  11. I hope you're not being serious, because if Rickie isn't 100% then he has no business playing 2B, so he shouldn't be feeling any strain on his ankle.
  12. Both would be infinitely better than the current LH "power threat" that is Mark Kotsay.
  13. Yeah. Plus the teams look stupid when half the fans aren't wearing gold. I don't understand doing this for a virtually meaningless regular season game. Do this for a playoff game. If they gave shirts out, they wouldn't sell 10,000 "I GOTTA GO" t-shirts, and I'd imagine this will happen for a playoff game as well.
  14. Game times won't be set until teams and home field locations are set.
  15. OPS+ is a bad way to judge offensive seasons. I don't know why you don't use wOBA. It's adjusted to league average, just like OPS+, and properly weighs OBP. Looking at 4 big seasons: Molitor '87: .443 Yount '82: .418 Cooper '80: .404 Prince '09: .420 Braun '11: .436 (so far) So right now, he has a solid chance of this being the best offensive season by a Brewer, ever, especially if you consider Molly in '87 only played in 118 games.
  16. That'd be cool (and should've been the choice to begin with IMO), but with as superstitious as baseball players are, I can't see it happening. It would be cool once. After that, it's a slow, boring song that wouldn't get the crowd fired up at all. Its pretty much the same as the song he has now (a fast song that no one knows so no one gets fired up for it). As for Counsell... all I could see when I saw his outfit... http://www.thegoldencloset.com/merchant/graphics/00000001/S0019d.jpg
  17. Adam Dunn, Ryan Howard, Paul Konerko. That's about it that are worse than Prince.
  18. It was Bando's own fault Eldred got hurt. He's the one that allowed Garnerto single handedly destroy his arm. After the first time he was allowed to throw 140 pitches, Bando should've told Garner "Do that again and you're fired."Without doing any research at all, I am wondering how often throwing this many pitches took place still in the '90's. Not that common sense shouldn't have told Garner to remove Eldred way prior to 140, but just curious. Looking back at the Brewers other two top starters in 1993: Bones had 4 games over 120 pitches, none over 126. Navarro had 2 games over 120, highest being 129. Eldred on the other hand, had 16 games over 120 pitches, 10 over 130 and 7 over 140!

  20. 283 No-No's in MLB history. Looks like George was the 293rd Cycle. So, it's pretty darn close to 1:1.
  21. That just reminded me of the guy running through the concourse, the last day of the season in 2008 just screaming WES HELMS! WES HELMS! WES HELMS!
  22. The book on ZG is, and has been for years, sit on his FB, hope you get one you can hit. If he's throwing his breaking stuff over, you're pretty much screwed. He looks great when that slider catches the corner, but looks pedestrian when he can't seem to get it over. Maybe that changes AB to AB, but I really don't think so.
  23. 113 pitches through 5 1/3. We made him work, but got absolutely nothing to show for it.
  24. I know, if only we had someone who destroyed AAA pitching all year who could replace an injured player to maybe add a spark to the offense!
