  2. He may have a strong arm but, to quote Crash Davis, "I just don't know where its going." Hart, on the other hand, has a strong and very accurate arm.
  3. Rillo would have to be a color guy, he doesn't have the chops to do play by play. I can't believe people don't like Cory, and don't like BA, it really makes me wonder if you've ever watched a national broadcast and listened to a guy like Joe Buck & McCarver, or if you've watched any other teams local guys. We truly are blessed with really good play by play guys in Milwaukee. And to finish... "Back, Track, Wall, Gone."
  4. He looked exactly like grandpa LeBron. http://fansided.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/lebronoden.jpg

  7. There was no reason for them to bring up the F-Bombs. "Morgan walks off the Brewers into the NLCS" would've sufficed.
  8. The Red Sox haven't finished under .500 since 1997, and the Yankees haven't since 1992, the Angels have had 1 season under .500 under their current regime, the last 10 seasons. A well run team with a higher payroll has a huge advantage over a well run team with a low payroll. If you can develop internal talent at the same rate as other teams, and augment that talent with the best pieces you need via free agency, how is that not an advantage?
  9. Burnett, Soriano, Jeter, Posada made a total of 55 million last year, and combined for less than 3 rWAR. Their bad payroll was 60% of the Brewers TOTAL payroll. To suggest that a big market team does not have an advantage is ludicrous. Just because a small market team can compete on occasion, does not mean they can compete year in and year out with big spending, well run teams like Boston, NYY and LAA. Saying a badly run team can't compete isn't important. No matter if they spend $30M or 300M a poorly run team will have a hard time competing. The difference is, if Braun's contract turns out to be like Jeter's (a 1-win player) there is a much lower chance of the Brewers competing, because they can't just absorb that contract.
  10. He had a .372 BABIP last year, up from his previous career mark of ~.320. I don't think there is any way he sustains that. Trading Marcum for a guy who fields a tiny bit better than Yuni and OBP's .300 would be a horrible move.

  12. Gamel is "more than likely" a 2.5 win player this upcoming season? News to me. (Keep in mind, I did Ethier's projected WAR figuring below average defense in RF. He's probably closer to 3 wins as an above average 1B.) I don't think it's doubtful that Gamel can put up numbers somewhere near James Loney (.288, .339, .416) with above average defense at 1B. Once again, if you're blowing 12M on a 1B, who is going to be your league minimum SS?
  13. So, you want to trade a prospect and pay a guy 12M to give you the production Gamel more than likely would for league minimum? Or are you gonna move Gamel to SS?
  14. Yep. With this line: With RISP: .237 average, .614 OPS, with men on .216 avg, .567 OPS. Implying he did anything close to average with guys on base is a farce.
  15. The Red Sox print money, it doesn't matter to them if they make a bad 20m a yr signing. Signing Reyes will allow them to trade Iglesias for pitching. Heck, they'll be getting Lackey's money insurance paid next year anyway.
  16. MLB's website: I am trying to pull down some highlights from the season, to save for personal use (mostly Uecker audio), and it is such a royal pain to load a game and play a specific time within that game it is ridiculous. Plus, it manages to crash firefox about 45% of the time I load a clip, then I get locked out, as my username/password has "been used too many times in a short amount of time"
  17. Well, I hope for their sake they ignore your advice, but I don't think there is any way Reyes gets less than the 7/126 base that Crawford and Werth have gotten the last 2 years, and there's no way in injury prone guy (or anyone?) would sign a deal that would allow them to void it if they spent time on the DL. Thankfully (in my opinion) Reyes is just too rich for the Brewers.
  18. Yeah, he really buggy whipped that one. WHO SAYS THAT?!?
  19. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yGeA_PC563M/RxYRrk11qlI/AAAAAAAAAb0/U6vQe7wrcu8/s320/McCarver.jpg I can't stand him to the point where I have muted the world series. THE WORLD SERIES.
  20. STRIKE is a 5 letter word, thanks Mr. McCarver.
  21. I agree, but Prince watches some of his tape measure jobs too. What gets me is when Pujols watches a long fly ball, and it ends up not going out of the park. To my knowledge, Prince has never done that. Right. Everyone admires their home runs sometimes. Pujols does it every single time. And his doubles. And his warning track outs. Yeah, but he learned it from Bill Hall, so its okay.
  22. You can't expect to go through only 6 starting pitchers again next year, that simply doesn't happen. Having AAA depth is a GOOD thing, it will allow Fiers or Peralta to get their feet wet when someone does get hurt.
  23. Saying they got lucky isn't writing off other possibilities, it is stating what I believe. How can you arbitrarily assign it to Ron's people skills? Then shouldn't every single manager with above average people skills outperform their teams run-performance on the season? Or, it just happened to Ron because he was perfect in the perfect situation in the perfect season?
  24. I am sick of seeing that written by people. He did not turn a blind eye, he tried to put policy in place, but had no power to do so. Until the media (who truly turned a blind eye) and the players union got on board (as a result of being hammered in the media).
