  1. So glad I renewed my terrace box seats for this season. Cripes.
  2. Well, if this offense keeps up all year, we might win the division!
  3. Uke's doing the Giants SS game, not the Cubs.
  4. That was Jeff Levering Uke's there, and did the initial intro.
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in about 15 minutes, Mr. Baseball should be taking the mic.
  6. Knowing the original story of the Revenant, and now having seen the movie, they easily could've cut out every single scene involving his wife and cut a half hour from the film. None of that was relevant or served to further the plot in the movie at all.
  7. They gave away guys on a salary dump for nothing, then proceeded to give up a first round pick to let another team dump salary. Just an awful move. However, tonight was simply amazing. Jabari with 36. Giannis with a triple double. Middleton with 30. If the defense can get 17% better, this team will be amazing.
  8. Love it. Love it. Love it. To put in the info here: Also, love how they came up with the rules for the new slide rule. They had umps watch 20 questionable slide and then built the rule from there.
  9. And all everyone wants to discuss is his power, even though he's averaging 29HR per 500AB with 64% being SOLO. Every run matters but if a decent majority of your power doesn't produce runs than its not as great as it appears on the surface. And he doesn't produce a lot of runs outside of HRs either. Santana, using last years stint with us, would have hit 25HR in 500AB. Back to Davis' arm, id be curious to see the numbers comparing his run production vs how many runs he's essentially giving up because of his arm, which allows so many extra bases to be taken putting much more pressure on the pitcher and defense. No doubt this year it would have been worse given what the Cubs, etc were doing vs him 2nd half last year. 78mph on competitive throws is literally comical If only they had defensive metrics to show runs saved... oh wait... He's pretty much graded out as an average to slightly below average fielder in LF, which includes his arm, which each of the last two years was worth about -5 runs, or 1/2 a win in WAR. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=9112&position=OF I really think you're overrating how many 'extra bases' and 'extra runs' his arm gives up. It's the same as people who complain about a C's throw to 2nd. It just doesn't happen as often as you think.
  10. The pick was unprotected, and it was the 2017 first rounder coming from the Clippers... who knows, but could end up being a lottery pick, depending on Chris Paul/Griffin this off season. As for second rounders, they never amount to anything, except when they do, like Draymond Green, Michael Redd, Wesley Matthews, Kyle O'Quinn, Isiah Thomas, Omar Asik, DeAndre Jordan.... That trade was so infuriating because it was a salary dump for Toronto (like what the Bucks did getting rid of Dudley, Zaza and Ersan) and the Bucks GAVE UP SOMETHING in order to allow Toronto to dump salary.
  11. They were under the salary floor (which every team must meet, and any amount below that gets divvied up amongst the players) so Monroe really only cost about $5M above that this year. I'm more upset that they traded a first round pick for Vasquez, for the pleasure of taking on his salary. Giannis is going to be running the offense, which hopefully means more fast breaks and more creativity.
  12. The Brewers just had a 5'9" guy play there for 7 years.
  13. Fangraphs Dave Cameron gives the Brewers an 'A' for their offseason moves -- one of only 2 teams to be graded that high. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/grading-the-offseasons-for-all-30-teams/
  14. Novak's defensive skills rival that of a 3 year old child right now. If he plays at all, I will be shocked. Just Kidd giving another contract to another buddy of his who he used to play with.
  15. I want no part of Ty Lawson. After the horrible experience the Bucks had with Larry Sanders, bringing in another troubled guy (with a super young team) just sounds like a bad idea.
  16. Looks like I'd better get my butt in gear...
  17. The international market is a joke. They are paying 16 year old kids more than number 1 draft picks. An international draft is the only solution to fix that problem. A salary floor is dumb too. I read that the Jacksoncille Jaguars are something like $30 million under the salary floor. Is there any way that spending the money to get them over the floor is going to turn them into a playoff contender? It's the NFL, maybe, but probably not. If they make the playoffs next year it's going to be more because they got lucky with injuries and Andrew Luck repeats his 2015. In the Brewers current situation, forcing them to spend any more money on the MLB team does nothing to help the organization. A salary floor is simply a way to ensure that the owners don't simply hoard money in a league with a salary cap and full revenue sharing. It's the players association way of avoiding collusion to artificially keep salaries down.
  18. I don't see anyone saying this or even hinting this. What people Are saying is that it gives us an opportunity to see if Santana has the ability to play at the major league level. Also to say that Davis has a unique skill is a bit of a false statement. He has power which is nice but it is certainly not unique. It's very, very unique in Davis' case. He truly has prolific power, and I wish I could've seen him without RRR messing with him with the 'contact, contact, swing at the first pitch, stop walking' mantra before the 2014 season. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/68-win-as-get-khris-davis-from-68-win-brewers/
  19. I would love Dillard being the road color guy this year. I don't think we'll ever see another play by play guy take an MLB job with zero experience.
  20. He was playing better than Wiggins over his first 2 months of 2014. They say knee injuries take a full 2 years to recover from and the mental aspect is the biggest hurdle. The fact that Jabari suited up before Feb. is just a bonus to me, I didn't think he'd be back until after the ASB this year after he went under the knife. You can see it in his game, it's slowly coming around, he's rebounding better and not avoiding contact as much as he regains his mental confidence in his knee. The defense thing, well, every rookie goes through it. Vaughn is suffering from the same thing this year. Jabari may never be a good defender, but if he can get to average he could become a great player.
  21. I feel the same way. I almost wouldn't mind them getting a no-bat all-glove guy at SS and CF and giving our pitching staff a chance.
  22. Hayes could've been a mid 2nd last year -- doubt he leaves for that. Monroe isn't the problem. The problem is the defensive scheme and playing two guys huge minutes who can't handle the scheme together. Jabari is horrible defensively and Monroe is mediocre. Asking Monroe to blitz pick 'n rolls is asking for trouble, and asking Jabari to do anything more than guard the guy in front of him... leaves him completely lost.
  23. Please no. I'm done with snow and I have no where else to put it. Not sure where you're at, but the Milwaukee area will see a lot of melting over the weekend, with highs above 40.
  24. http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/brewers-chris-capuano-signs-minor-league-contract-with-brewers-on-monday/ Not overly surprised, sounds like minor league depth and a good guy to have around. Crafty lefty!
