  1. I can’t wait for the Cardinals’ version of Craigtember to be over in one playoff game. It will make me feel better about our 2019 season.
  2. I probably won’t watch another game this year. This team is boring—both the coaching and the personnel. Even if they win it will still be uninteresting. Without a running game there nothing redeemable at all about this style of football.
  3. Both of these teams are bad.
  4. Nice to know we’re not the only team with highly questionable play calling.
  5. A classic “brewmann04ism” right there!
  6. Uggh…. Worst. Cheer. Ever. Just wait until the magic number is Oooooooooooooooooverbay!!!
  7. Bill *clap clap* *clap clap* Hall *clap clap* *clap clap*
  8. Why didn’t he send houser out last night Based on his facial expressions he wished that he had.
  9. I'm was kind of morbidly curious how many more Brewers losses+Cardinals wins it would take to move the Brewers' division odds below 99.9%. If each MLB game is basically a coin toss, the Cardinals need 'heads' to come up in 17 of the next 19 coin tosses. The probability of that is 0.03%. If the Cards get all 3 outcomes today, they would get those odds up to 0.2%, but with the tiebreaker included the Brewers' division odds would still remain exactly 99.9%. Another Cards win and Brewers loss tomorrow? That gets the Cards up to 0.6% of reaching a tiebreaker. All 7 outcomes go against the Brewers this weekend? Cards jump up to a 2% chance of reaching a tiebreaker. Although even then it wouldn't be panic mode unless the Cards also won the first two head-to-heads next week. But forgetting all that, we basically just need one of the 3 outcomes to go our way today so we can relax.
  10. In terms of significance to playoff positioning, the 4-game sweep by St. Louis was the least-significant sweep the Brewers have experienced since a 4-game sweep by Pittsburgh August 25-28, 2016. In that case the Brewers' division odds went from 0.0% at the start of the series to 0.0% at the end, a change of 0.0%. In the most recent sweep, the Brewers' division odds went from 99.9% at the start of the series to 99.9% at the end of the series, also a change of 0.0%. So basically, if we were ever going to get swept, it was a perfect time to do so.
  11. I stepped away and somehow the Cards' 1 turned into a 7. I'd be more upset if I didn't know this thread would be pure entertainment as a result.
  12. Before the shift that was a hit every time, now it's an out at least half of the time. Every time with slower runners.
  13. He doesn't even seem to be that good of a baserunner. I won't complain if he's on the roster, he's so good at defense that he's managed to cancel out almost all of his negative offensive value with his glove. And I haven't forgotten about Kotsay.
  14. As a snapshot it would look great. But you can’t separate the snapshot from the circumstances leading up to it. I can understand that some people can look at this and say it is over, so no reason to be concerned about anything. But I don’t understand why those people are bothered so much that others look at it differently. I watch sports the same way I played them. I played hard until the game was over. Letting up with a big lead and then trying to rev up again when things got closer never seemed like a good idea. Because the viewpoint in this case is 100% illogical. You continue to suggest that an outcome that has never come close to happening in the long history of Major League Baseball has a legit shot of happening here. I know you are not into trends, probabilities and analytics, and are more a "go with your gut" type, but you really can't ignore the numbers when they are so, so close to certainty. That said, I totally agree with the frustration. But the fear is unfounded. These guys are playing harder than anyone in the history of MLB. That's the problem. Nobody ever told them to let off this gas in the last week, but they see the standings and the playoff odds like the rest of us and it just happens subconsciously. And you immediately start getting beat when that happens. The White Sox have been playing .500 ball for months. The Rays have been .500 for the last month. The Astros were cruising and briefly had the division lead cut to a couple games at the start of August. The only good teams that aren't in cruise control are the Dodgers and Giants. Can LA and SF keep the pedal to the metal for another 6 weeks? History suggests otherwise...and hopefully the well-rested Brewers will be the beneficiary.
  15. I'm used to having this option with MLB.tv but what I'm not used to is not knowing who is pitching/batting. Instead they have that fancy shift graphic which is cool but not as useful as having the pitcher/batter name on the screen.
  16. It's a good time to slump and face a little adversity. This team has been cruising along for months. Better to get the wake up call now than in October. As for why they don't hit as well at home...who knows. For whatever reason, AmFam isn't the hitters park that it used to be.
  17. The Brewers have never played with that mindset in the Counsell era. They always play with the bigger picture in mind. We have twice seen the Brewers flame out in the NLCS, do we want to make it a third time?
  18. The likely AL and NL MVP are both on non-playoff teams…
  19. The look on Counsell's face...LOL. At least he knows he messed up.
  20. I kinda have to tip my cap to what the Cardinals are doing right now. It's remarkable. Thank goodness we had a huge cushion or this would have been disastrous.
