  1. It would be funny if Greinke took the loss in three consecutive games. That record (for a starting pitcher) would stand forever.
  2. It's the bleeping Brewers walk of fame, not Cooperstown. Who cares if it's watered down? It shouldn't just be about on-field performance, but about connecting with the fans, community, etc. Larry Hisle should be in for his contributions to the Milwaukee community. Bill Schroeder should be in also for all his years in the broadcast booth. Not to mention about 10 other names on that list. Even recent favorites Jenkins and Cirillo are getting shut out for some reason. Guys from the 80s like Teddy Higuera and Ted Simmons aren't even in. I bet when Craig Counsell gets on the ballot he will fall short also--probably because half the media thinks his batting average was too low or something. I agree with rickh, the top vote getter should get in every year, regardless of the vote percentage. The fans also need to have some say in this also.
  3. The Marlins have a different perspective of this series. It could easily have been a 4 game sweep of the Brewers, except for the Bell blown save on Tuesday and the pathetic defense ruining Zambrano's outing on Monday. From an objective perspective, it's two mediocre teams splitting a poorly played series.
  4. 101 degree temperature at game time...not as warm as 104 on July 13, 1995--and that was a night game!
  5. Yeah it was a knee jerk reaction. He looked exhausted though, sweating like crazy. The best the Marlins can counter with is a pitcher with a 5.94 ERA, so this game isn't going to stay 5-5 for long.
  6. Well, it was a nice start. That one's on Roenicke.
  7. No state income tax in Florida. Still seems like a strange argument though.
  8. Excellent start by Wolf today so far, the Brewers really needed this one.
  9. If Carlos Lee is "buying" then I hope the Brewers are sellers. Lee declined the Dodgers deal, he didn't want to go to LA. Interesting that he would approve a Miami deal instead.
  10. First 100 since July 14, 1995 at Mitchell. It's also hotter in Milwaukee than Miami today, although it's not exactly cool here.
  11. A few moves by Melvin will not be the difference this year between getting back in the race and giving up. The only way they contend is if the guys on the roster right now get it together. Ramirez and Weeks have finally awakened, but the bullpen needs to step it up, these guys are capable of more than their recent performances. If the current team can't get back to .500, how can a team with a few added pieces make the playoffs? I do think they've done enough to keep Greinke on the team for a few more weeks.
  12. The loser of this game should definitely be crowned the worst bullpen in the National League.
  13. Should we actually be hoping for the Marlins to score so they bring Heath Bell in?
  14. I was only 9 but I remember that 1995 heat wave well. It was far worse than this heat wave. The highest heat index in 1995 was 120 on July 13, 1995, which you get from a temperature of 102 and a dew point of 78. The worst case scenario for this week is a heat index around 105-108, as the dew point is about 10 degrees lower than 1995. So the dry weather is actually helping to prevent this from being worse. Although at a certain point the difference doesn't really matter, it's just hot.
  15. The crowd really emptied out after the 6th, but this game isn't over. The Marlins announcers are taking fan comments from Twitter. Someone asked for more shots of Front Row Amy and they obliged.
  16. It makes me wonder who makes their weather decisions. It was obvious that the rain wasn't even going to get close to Milwaukee. Either there was some poor decision making or they are extremely cautious.
  17. Rickie only needs to duplicate his 2009-2011 numbers the rest of the way to get to .230 or so for the year. So that is probably about where I would project him to end up. More realistically, he will end up in the .220 range.
  18. Change to the Miller Park roof policy for this week. LINK
  19. It will be interesting to see if some locations can get to 110 degrees on Thursday. Right now it is looking like most locations will stay in the 100-105 range but you never know. You guys should be enjoying the hot weather. Go for a swim and get some sun. Soon it will be winter again.
  20. Dusty Baker would know better than to bench Morgan when the weather is hot.
  21. Not a good week to have lots of day games. It is looking like a mistake. Today the temperature is going to be around 95 at game time, tomorrow the forecast is for 99, and 102 on Thursday with temperatures over 100 for the entire game. That's dangerously hot. Maybe they should move the Thursday game back to 7 PM.
  22. I agree that a square park would have been bad, but why couldn't the panels have moved off the stadium using the fan shaped design? They kept the biggest 2 panels fixed in place to save money, but it would have been possible to make them mobile and allow them to rotate 15 degrees over the sidewalk instead of over the terrace seats. The moving panels are on pivots. Then only the Uecker seats would have been covered when the roof is open all the way.
