  1. Is that really necessary at this point in the game? Just ride the wave of excitement and let it go.
  2. The Brewers reached the summit of the Win Probability Mountain and have now climbed down the other side: http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/20110720_Brewers_Diamondbacks_0_20110720235147_lbig_.png
  3. I think it is a combination of being in a slump and pressing to show up the D'backs fans.
  4. "Is that not a sweet swing or what?" I love and hate this team so much right now. I should have been to bed an hour ago. I do think the worthless crowds in Arizona are contributing. The Brewers did fine in Miami also when nobody was at the game. It doesn't feel like a true road game, more like a neutral field.
  5. Ok, so can the Diamondbacks do the same thing we did in the bottom 9th and get out of this? Against Morgan, Braun, Fielder? Doubt it.
  6. One of the advantages to being a grad student is that if I decide to come in at 11:00, nobody is going to notice or care. In fact, I think I will not go in at all tomorrow and just work from home. The disadvantage is that I am broke.
  7. Bunt Bunt Bunt Bunt Bunt I guess trying to go to right is ok too.
  8. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to handle September if they keep playing games like this. If this 8th/9th inning was in a crucial pennant race game, the items on my desk would be all over the room right now. It's 12:35 here...at this point I'm sticking it out and opening a beer.
  9. The D'backs had their win expectancy up to 93.6% after the wild pitch. I think it helped that the crowd is completely listless.
  10. I guess I should say that I do not necessarily blame RR for this game. You can't anticipate the "error" by Prince or that K-Rod didn't have his control tonight. It's not like he brought in Loe. But it is my very strong personal conviction that you leave Narveson in. That's all, I'm letting it go now. Could they possibly pull the miracle and get out of this?
  11. If Narveson was tired after 87 pitches with no more than 15 in a single inning, then he should get his arm checked out and consider a trip to the DL. Because he wasn't in a single stressful situation the whole night.
  12. Are you watching the game or listening to the radio? I can't believe you would say that if you saw Narveson pitch tonight.
  13. Exactly. But Roenicke almost never makes mid-inning pitching changes. So that option was off the table.
  14. I will say that the error by Prince is what ultimately lead to this calamity. But it still really hurts, they need to find a way to win or this will go down as one of the more disgusting ones of the year. I'm really angry.
  15. What a punch in the gut to Narveson. 87 pitchers, 10 in a row retired, and taken out.
  16. They should have stuck with Narveson for another inning. I don't care if Narveson is the #1, #3, or #5 pitcher, he was dealing and had a low pitch count. It's a vote of no confidence. K-Rod is good but I would rather take tonight's Narveson than risk K-Rod or Axford walking a few guys and getting into a jam.
  17. The only difference between the #1 and the #5 pitcher is that the #1 gets to start Opening Day. How could you even think about taking Narveson out at this point?
  18. My only thought is that I hope someone missed a hit and run signal.
  19. Wow Gomez!!!! Did his big dangling chain get him in the neck?
  20. I think the correct phrase isn't hoping, but "waiting for" the Pirates to start losing. Although the putrid state of the NL Central is helping sustain this longer than it should have gone on for. I really like the Pirates and wish them well, but the pitching is bound to fall back to earth.
  21. Yuni's 2010 numbers and career average suggest that he was also due for improvement. I still wonder how he gets it done with that terrible swing, but his offense was never really the concern anyway.
