  1. Even the weak grounders from Ramon Hernandez get through for singles.
  2. It was reported earlier this year that Sveum was trying to teach Betancourt to hit up the middle and to the opposite field. Hopeless cause.
  3. I haven't seen Hardy play this year, but it seems like a .341 OBP with 0 stolen bases is ok but not great for a leadoff hitter. He should be at #2 or #3 with that career-high .500+ slugging percentage.
  4. It's really too bad that Braun is out for this game, I'm sure he would destroy the D-train.
  5. This is not helping Cordero get back on track. A few more hits and Plush or Hart could come up as the tying run.
  6. Ok a brief word here specifically about the pithy, condescending posts. I understand that everyone (including myself) is frustrated that the Brewers threw away the game. However, this is not a vent thread and we do not need posts that are essentially a show of frustration and do not contribute anything to the discussion. Thanks.
  7. Nice hit, right at the CF. I though for sure they would win it in the 9th tonight.
  8. The crowd is amazing, all 42,000 still there cheering. I hope they do not have a bunt call on here, let Plush swing. Edit: bunt him to 3rd
  9. To the bottom 9th we go, top of the order coming up. I like our chances.
  10. At least we got the order turned around for the bottom 9th. Nice to see Kottaras pinch-hitting again. Good job Roenicke.
  11. Oh dear Yuni, that should have been an easy one. I have confidence that Hawkins can pitch around it.
  12. Nice to see the Diamondbacks beating up on the Cardinals as well. Huge road trip for them to catch back up to the Giants. I think it's great for baseball to have the Pirates, D'backs, and Indians having success this year.
  13. Brewers score 2 in first, helped by an error and a passed ball. Brewer killer Ramon Hernandez hits a big 2 run bomb. Marcum pitches out of 2 bases loaded 1 out jams in 3rd and 5th and Cueto settled down nicely after the 2nd.Thanks! Nice to see Chapman throwing 100 mph all over the place.
  14. I saw somewhere (not sure if it is a verified fact) that Rock went on vacation with his wife for a week.
  15. By the way, I just got here, does anyone want to summarize the game in like 3 sentences?
  16. 5 for 5 now with a go-ahead RBI single in the 8th. Biggio was the only other to get 5 hits on the day he got 3,000.
  17. That was a very classy move by the fan and by the Yankees. Jeter now up to 3,002 hits, 4 for 4 today.
  18. Who else should be put in the 5 spot today? Betancourt? McGehee? Lucroy? All 3 have their various flaws, why not just go with the hot bat?
  19. 2B Weeks CF Morgan RF Hart 1B Fielder LF Kotsay 3B McGehee SS Betancourt C Lucroy P MarcumStill no Braun. At this point they should just give him Sunday off as well and have him back to 100% for Thursday.
  20. This is going to be a tough one. It is important to get at least 1/2 this weekend and be at a high note going into the ASB. The post-ASB road trip is going to be hard, but maybe they can finally get off the rollercoaster and start fortifying a decent division lead.
  21. Yeah you probably have to give him a -.150 or so for booting that ball. Still a good night.
  22. The Pirates are a great story. I'm very happy for them, the fans are buying it and PNC is the best ballpark in the country when it is filled with Pirates fans. I think with the current team they will fall off by August/September. But they have to be considered buyers now and they could potentially add some pieces to strengthen their cause. The Brewers can't count on easy wins against them any longer.
  23. http://www.fangraphs.com/tgraphs/20110708_Reds_Brewers_0.png Kotsay with +.798 WPA for the game. I yelled so loud that my wife took away my laptop, but it was so worth it ;-)
