  1. Wouldn't it be funny if Wolf beats NY and Boston, with Gallardo, Greinke, and Marcum a combined 0-4?
  2. I'm fine if we don't go back to Yankee Stadium for another decade.
  3. Yuku switched us over to a new server last night. They appear to be incapable of doing any type of maintenance without having problems.
  4. I like what I see from Gamel. No excuse for Hart to get doubled off there, he probably scores anyway even if he waits at second base.
  5. I think the MVP should go to the offensive player with the best raw numbers. By my criteria, Kemp deserves it. Fielder should be #2. Kemp's OPS is essentially the same as Prince, but Kemp gets the nod for stealing 22 bases in 25 attempts, compared to Prince's 0 for 0. Prince also contributes nothing on defense. If you disqualify Kemp because the Dodgers stink, then it should go to Prince. McCann is the best catcher but I put him in the 5-6 range behind Braun, Votto, and maybe Berkman.
  6. It only took like 15 minutes to log on...and we have a lead tonight :-)
  7. Well, that's not good. Time to go enjoy the rest of the night, good night.
  8. Ok, I get that you don't like McGehee right now, but now you're looking for things to blame him for.
  9. The Yankees and Red Sox both do not swing at pitches outside of the strike zone very often.
  10. It seems like Gomez and Morgan both sprint back on most fly balls because they play so shallow. Morgan did not misjudge it, he stopped in the right place and just fell taking what should have been 2 easy steps to the ball. I watched the replay 5 more times and I still think Morgan didn't do anything wrong, he would have caught it easily if he didn't fall over.
  11. Yet another game where Greinke's start is doomed by the defense.
  12. It didn't look like a misjudge to me. He just fell over.
  13. The team that hits the most 275 ft home runs to RF wins.
  14. Tough call since they are all righties. I'll take Gallardo in Milwaukee. If the game is in Philly, it might be better to go with Greinke because of his high K/BB rate. Marcum is probably the best choice without knowing any specific situation. The lack of big game experience is a concern, especially in a potential NLCS vs. Philadelphia. The Brewers would need to take care of their 3 at home in that series and hope for some luck on the road.
  15. I think you need to start here.
  16. Interesting footnote from fangraphs today: Wolf is at 3.99.
  17. Some of the more interesting implications are reported in this article. If McCourt does not go down quietly, it is possible that the bankruptcy judge could auction the team off to the highest bidder (possibly Mark Cuban) without Bud Selig's approval. The case is very complicated and will probably take the better part of a year if not more to resolve. In the meantime, Dodgers fans are stuck in a horrible limbo.
  18. The kite flying advice also came from a fan.
  19. Probably, but it just shows you how much the Dolphins care about the Marlins.
  20. The Marlins have a terrible stadium lease at Sun Life Stadium. They really didn't have a choice in the matter. It wouldn't have even mattered if the Marlins fans cared more. Edit: on a related note, the Dolphins are having big problems selling season tickets this year, all the home games are probably going to be blacked out this year. From what I can tell, most fans down here prefer the Jets anyway.
  21. In Narveson's defense, this inning started on a bad call that should have been strike 3. At least he's going with Hawkins now.
  22. Hmm...tough call. Stick with the lefty vs. lefty or bring in Hawkins? We need Braddock back.
  23. It is good for MLB to have the Pirates winning games and drawing fans to the ballpark. If it wasn't for their 0-5 against the Brewers this year, they might be in 1st.
  24. Riggleman did the Nationals a big favor--the fans were calling for him to be fired as recently as a few weeks ago and he knew that he was a lame duck even if the team started playing better. His best chance to get a contract extension was now, when the team is playing well, but the response from management shows that he was probably getting dumped at the end of the year no matter what. It's probably career suicide but you never know in this business, way too many incompetent managers get second or even third jobs.
