  1. Looks like the combination of "black Wednesday" and the minor bullpen moves are working, at least so far. Even if the Brewers are "in it", I still don't see them making it. However, they could get that 3rd consecutive winning season if they keep this up.
  2. It's about time we had a laugher go our way. The offense has really responded to the recent shakeup. I remember back in 2002, someone suggested that we should fire our manager every week. Maybe this year we just need to keep shuffling players in from Nashville.
  3. The bullpen is already so depleted as it is and Coffey has been our most valuable reliever this year (including Hoffman--sorry, 35 innings doesn't cut it).
  4. I consider Lopez to be another Johnny Estrada and I wouldn't shed a tear if they released him tomorrow. I'm glad for Lopez that he has above average baseball ability. It is nice that he can hit .300 and play average defense without giving 100%. Based on what I have seen so far, he is our best option at 2B if we are interested in winning the most games. However, I can not stand it when professional baseball players do not give their full effort when there are plenty of other players (sitting on our bench) who care more about helping the team win. I've seen/heard enough to conclude that Lopez is lazy. Obviously they aren't going to release him and an underperforming/harder working player like Hardy is going to get the demotion every time, fair or not. But when it comes time to make decisions about what kind of team we want to field next year, Lopez should be nowhere near the picture. Johnny Estrada could hit .300 and play mediocre defense also, it didn't do him any good.
  5. I have no intentions of entering the real world...that might happen after a few years of graduate school ;-)
  6. I realize that not all Cubs fans are like this. However, there is only one ballpark in the major leagues where beer gets dumped on players (on many occasions) and garbage gets thrown on the field. It is only news this time because it was a perfect shot. Usually the beer throwers miss badly and nothing comes of it.
  7. This is where Macha should bring in TREVOR! Why risk it with Stetter???
  8. I don't care how motivated this team is, it isn't going to give anyone a fresh arm.
  9. I'm actually really excited for my last semester of my undergraduate college career, even though I gave myself a brutal schedule. However, after school starts, it's not long before there's frost on the ground in the morning...
  10. We should have asked, "Can Bill Hall catch?" If the answer was yes, then Kendall should have been the one to get DFA'd.
  11. I'll stick with the cool standings odds. The Brewers have a 5% of making the playoffs. 1 out of every 20 times, a team in our situation will pull off a miracle and make the playoffs. I could see it happening, but only if virtually everyone on our roster gets hot and the Cubs/Cardinals play mediocre at best. However, in terms of my game watching/score checking habits, the Brewers have already been tuned out. If they win even 2 games in a row, I'll start paying closer attention, but they've proven in the past month that they are incapable of putting together any type of consistency, which is exactly what you need to make a run at it.
  12. Another vote for Culver's--especially the bacon deluxe butterburger. I am also still a fan of Big Macs despite all the fancier burgers around these days.
  13. I logged 5,000 posts at the brewers.com board back in the day. It was more enjoyable back then because the Brewers were bad and there weren't many people that posted there. I was also around 15-16 years old at the time. Ajay, Brian, and Casey used to post there frequently at that time as well, so we sometimes had intelligent conversations. Sometimes it is still fun to go over to the Cubs mlb board after a loss. It is dangerous to put a large number of fair-weather fans in one place.
  14. I don't think people realize that the current proposed sales tax increase is 500-1000% bigger than the stadium tax. You would think they would, but I'm starting to realize that many people can't do basic logic/math. In addition, there are people who absolutely oppose all tax increases no matter what and another group that hates baseball/sports and has always opposed the stadium.
  15. We do have speed, we just choose not to utilize it. I'm sure we are at least league average in infield singles, Macha just decided to give up base stealing and play for the 3-run homer. I don't think there is anything wrong with the offense. If you threw out day games at Miller Park, we probably would have the #1 or #2 offense in the league. If we had even an average pitching staff, we would be right there with the Cubs and Cardinals.
  16. I'm wondering if he got angry when he realized that the Dodgers had someone warming up in the bullpen at the time he was hit.
  17. This isn't even the first time that someone has tried to chase down Mota after a game. Mike Piazza also tried it a few years ago. I hope MLB cracks down on this. That was one of the most obvious purpose pitchers I have ever seen.
  18. I would like to see Catalanatto and Saltamacchia in the same lineup.
  19. Cubs fans should be happy, they no longer have the worst defensive corner outfielders in the big leagues.
  20. He's the 3rd best hitter on the team this year behind Braun and Fielder.
  21. Bases loaded for our best hitter not named Ryan or Prince.
  22. At this point, I would take a double play if it gets the run in.
  23. Although Gallardo's pitch count is high, he has avoided 25+ pitch count innings. If there was ever a time that 110-120 was ok, this is it. Plus, it would be nice to get him the win.
  24. 6 IP 9 K for Gallardo. 103 Pitches. Does Macha bring him back out? (I vote no)
