  1. I agree that today feels like December 26th. Last year was especially bad because the last game was a playoff game loss that came less than 24 hours after I left game 3 the happiest I have ever been as a Brewers fan. There's still some unfinished business this year. We need to win 4/6 to get to .500 and the Atlanta Braves need our help.
  2. Had the Brewers managed to win 5 more games this year (which likely would have happened if Weeks and Bush didn't get injured), that bomb by Braun would have been yet another huge HR in the middle of a Wild Card chase.
  3. As with last Friday, you could make an argument that Narveson is the better of the 2 starting pitchers.
  4. You should avoid private loans but it might be a good idea to look into the federal student loans. The interest rate can be really low on those loans. That being said, I do not anticipate the stock market going much higher in the next few years, so it's probably best to use the cash for now, unless you are planning on making a big purchase like a car.
  5. I'd rather not waste money on a catcher. The offense would be fine with Kendall or Chad Moeller or whoever next year. We need pitching.
  6. Suppan has been a cancer to the bullpen for the last 3 years.
  7. Back in the 2005-2007 timeframe, Friday nights usually drew around 30,000 with 40,000 on Saturdays and 25,000 on Sundays. I know I'm not the only one here who has been to Brewers games at Miller Park with the announced attendance around 13,000 and maybe 8,000 people in the stands. I know they considered closing the Terrace level for weekday games at one point.
  8. Maybe people are getting sick of bobbleheads?
  9. You have to applaud the Cubs for doing this, but just about everyone in baseball, including many Cubs fans saw this one coming before the season even started. I assume this also means he won't be back next year. Taking a $12 million hit like that would destroy the Brewers, but the Cubs will probably be just fine.
  10. Yes, they have been playing the Mario music occasionally after the Brewers complete an inning. I think it is hilarious.
  11. Our 9-pack has us sitting in the 3rd row of the terrace looking directly at Ryan Braun from behind home plate. When the ball comes off the bat toward left field, we have a perfect view of its trajectory. From that vantage point, it is common to see Braun hesitate or make a first move in the wrong direction. It is less apparant on TV because he has usually already corrected himself by the time the camera switches to him. Like others said, he also usually makes up for it. However, that wasn't the case in the tie game against the Reds a few weeks ago. The Brewers were about to go to the bottom of the 10th inning with a tie score, but Braun missed a ball that was hit right at him because he took 3 steps in for an RBI double.
  12. I really enjoyed my trip to Wrigley, but that was back in 2000 when bandwagon Cubs fans didn't exist and I was comparing the place to County Stadium.
  13. Absolutely not. He is a below average left fielder and frequently misjudges the trajectories of balls. He is quick on the basepaths but it does not seem to translate to being quick in the outfield. Is there a particular reason you want to move him to CF? Isn't Cameron going to be back next year?
  14. It seems to me that it is better to have more strikeouts if it means that you hit the ball hard in play more often. A shortstop isn't going to misplay a Jason Kendall ground ball very often, but he is more likely to misplay a sharp grounder or line drive. I also agree that Gamel seems to take too many pitches right down the middle, but it seems easily correctable if he just swings more. I recall JJ Hardy being like that initially as well.
  15. I am also frustrated by the lineups on a daily basis and I agree that there appears to be no plan or direction now that the Brewers have fallen out of the race. Obviously, the initial plan was to win this year, but there appears to be no "Plan B" for what to do now. My concern isn't really about losing games, I'm a Brewers fan, I can handle it. What I do not like is the number of questionable personnel decisions that could have a negative impact in 2010 and beyond. The first issue was Yovani Gallardo's pitch counts this year. Then they let Gamel sit on the bench. Now we have Escobar sitting on the bench and Corey Patterson getting starts. Kendall continues to play even though it would be nice to see what Rivera can do on a consistent basis. The most annoying part is that a lineup with Escobar, Gamel, and Rivera probably has a better chance of winning than the current lineups, it isn't even like they would be giving up (which is what I think they are afraid of implying). That said, I don't know who is to blame and I can't call for Melvin's head yet. I'm willing to give him the offseason to turn things around. There are a number of important moves that have to be made by someone and I trust his knowledge of the ballclub over some new face.
  16. But we might have gotten 2 hits if we spent that extra 5 minutes doing hitting drills
  17. Maybe the Brewers should spend more time learning how to hit and less time planning home plate celebrations
  18. All I know is that Bill Hall's defense >>> Casey McGehee's defense
  19. The more I hear the Cards fans complain, the more I want the Brewers to do more elaborate celebrations.
  20. That was probably the most boring game I have ever been at that wasn't a blowout.
  21. I got 44. There are about 25 that I have never heard of. Not sure how I forgot the 2003 AL winner.
  22. I just can't see the Brewers hitting 3 million in attendance for a 3rd consecutive year. The #1 driver behind attendance is the previous year's record. 2008 and 2009 both benefited from the Brewers either making the playoffs or nearly making the playoffs. I predict attendance closer to 2007, when the Brewers improved dramatically after a down year in 2006. There is also a recession now which will hurt things as well. My guess is about 2.7 million, even if they spend most of the year in first place.
