  1. I like to think of Kendall as the #10 hitter.
  2. Good start tonight, looks like the bats have decided to be alive for a few days.
  3. Sammy Sosa managed to get 2 balls over the LF bleachers during the 2002 HR derby. They were caught by people on the sidewalk outside the stadium. One of them came in at 520 ft. He had a total of 4 HR over 500 feet out of his 12 total HR. Prince hit one 470 ft to right-center in 2005 that hit the road runner sign. It would have easily gone out of the ballpark and probably cleared the sidewalk if the sign wasn't in the way. As for the derby, Russell would have been awesome but it's great that Nelson Cruz got in. The Fielder/Howard/Pujols lineup is going to be great as well.
  4. There was definitely booing, but I can't really blame people. The grand slam was the last straw for me, we don't usually leave early but it was really frustrating to have an exciting baseball game turn into a blowout.
  5. On a positive note, the crowd last night was excellent. One of the best crowds at July game that I have ever seen.
  6. I don't think it's a coincidence--he suddenly is swinging at bad pitches and trying to do too much. That being said, his "slumps" never last more than a week, and sometimes he appears to be slumping but still goes 2-4 with a few singles.
  7. The overriding stat involving the bad home stands and losing the final game of series is their abysmal record in day games at Miller Park.
  8. If this is the most frustrating team in the last 20 years, then your expectations are too high. The 2007 team was very frustrating. There was also a year in the late 90's when the Brewers also had a huge offense but no pitching. I remember keeping track on the number of 6+ run leads that they blew that year. This year, they seem to either pull an exciting comeback or just not show up at all. Maybe I'm a pessimist, but I was just waiting for the Cardinals to break out today and I wasn't really surprised when it happened.
  9. The problem was that the bullpen did exactly the same things Parra usually does. Falling behind hitters, walking a backup catcher, and giving Pujols a 2-0 meatball.
  10. A huge win is turning into another disappointing loss...
  11. Yeah, strike 3 was outside, but Rivera was setting up outside and Parra nailed the spot (again).
  12. I would prefer McGehee at 2B and Gamel at 3B also--but I don't understand the hate on McGehee. As for Parra, he's just pounding his fastball, 93 mph with good movement. The Cardinals also came out very aggressive which helped.
  13. That should not have been an error on McGehee. The throw was fine, Prince just decided to start heading toward the dugout before he caught the ball.
  14. There's big money in warning systems like that--especially for businesses/outdoor events
  15. Not to mention another 30+ pitch inning for Gallardo. He's talented, but he can't eat innings like Sheets/Sabathia did.
  16. I didn't see that coming! Now we really need the offense tonight.
  17. This was the first year I can remember that someone actually handed us ballots in the terrace level.
  18. The message boards for about 25 other teams also just started this thread. Good luck!
  19. I can't believe there are people calling for Melvin's head, but if it makes everyone feel better, maybe we should fire Melvin tomorrow and bring in a new GM to tell Ryan Braun that there are no available pitchers.
  20. This whole "trade for a pitcher now" thing has blown completely out of proportion. What does the rest of the league think of us? Our potential trade partners are probably licking their chops right now knowing that the Brewers are desperate for pitching. In addition, the only reason we got CC last year is because we had better players to offer than the competition. If I remember correctly, there were at least 5 teams seriously interested. This year, there are about 10 teams looking for pitching and many of them have better players to offer than we do. Most likely the Brewers will do nothing and then the fanbase will explode with anger when a starter gets traded in mid-July.
  21. I know he's right, but I still don't like the comments. It's one thing to call out the hitters, but Looper, Suppan, and Gallardo have all pitched well, so he is specifically calling out the replacements. The other problem is that one of his teammates probably has to go in order to make a trade--and we all know the 3 or 4 players who are rumored in all the trades. I was thinking that Braun straight up to the Blue Jays for Roy Halladay would make a fair trade and solve the problem...
  22. How did Hunter Pence get in ahead of Adam Dunn?
  23. This is an important and winnable game. It would be nice mentally to leave Wrigley with a split, even if it doesn't mean much in the long term.
