  1. That's what I think it is. He's been delaying the inevitable since last Thursday while his starters continue to fail to make it past the 6th inning. He can't burn out his "good" relievers. Mota had to pitch and I don't blame Yost for going to him. As for why Mota was in the bullpen in the first place...
  2. I'll give him a B. In my opinion, the manager has little influence over the outcome of games, so all managers in baseball would either get a B-, a B, or a B+. The clubhouse chemistry is great, he isn't sticking with guys when they aren't performing (unless there is no suitable replacement), the fundamentals have improved, he hasn't left starting pitchers in too long, he has generally managed the bullpen well, and he doesn't panic when we lose a few games in a row. We've used the bullpen quite a bit over the past few days. Mota had to come in eventually. He got the first two outs. If Mota is on the team, he has to play, so if anything, that is Melvin's fault, not Yost. On the negative side, he still gives the same silly answers to reporters. After we make the playoffs this year, Ned will get a 3 year extension, which I will not complain about. None of the flaws on this team are Ned's fault. Let's all take off our Brewers goggles and admit what everyone in the national media is saying: we have a bad bullpen and our offense is streaky. Yost can't do much about it, especially when the bullpen has been overworked (see Suppan and McClung's last starts).
  3. I don't think it has been that bad. Rickie did a bad job of selling the tag to the umpire, and he just sort of brushed him with the ball. He should have known that the throw was late and that the runner might over-slide. I'm not sure what the umpire told Yost, but he didn't argue. Cameron was out at 2nd on the SB today, though. There were a few questionable ball/strike calls but overall I thought it was consistent. The main issue is that you're not going to win many games if you dig a 3 run hole by the 7th inning every other night.
  4. The Yost bashing for our bad bullpen is getting old. By the way, Mike Cameron stinks.
  5. Sheeter is definitely making a case to start the ASG tonight. I'd like to see him make a run at 18 K again.
  6. Braun actually has a legitimate chance to win it.
  7. I can't go, but for fun... 13 runs, 27 pitches
  8. Bill Hall was upset, but now if he keeps it up and Branyan stays cold, he could have his job back by the ASB.
  9. I still considered the Cubs the favorite before this deal, but they are definitely the favorite to win the division now and possibly the World Series. The Brewers/Cubs NLCS match up continues to loom. If that occurs, it is guaranteed to be either the best or worst week of my life, and nothing in between.
  10. CC was overthrowing the entire night. That being said, he still was solid and put us in a position to win. Hopefully Sheets can continue the momentum tomorrow--did I mention I love the fact that I don't have to wait 5 days to see another ace pitch?
  11. I prematurely declared the season to be over when Gallardo was injured. Bill Hall is still my favorite player. I understand that he has flaws but I love him anyway--I feel like he has always played better than his talent level his entire career. I feel like the crowds have been too quiet at games this year--I start clapping with 2 strikes on a batter with 2 outs and runners on and only a few join me--but I expect that to change now that we have CC. The only time I went to a Brewers game drunk, I got distracted too easily and didn't have as much fun as when I was sober. I think we're going to lose tonight. I don't think Prince Fielder has gained any weight this year. Finally, I don't leave games early, but I always buy my seats in left field and leave immediately after the last out while others are still in their seats. We've never been waiting in the parking lot for more than 5-10 minutes--it always works if you get out right after the last out and walk quickly.
  12. Wow...simply amazing attendance numbers. I wonder how many years this can last...
  13. It's unfortunate that my bad feelings were proven right, although the comeback was nice. Given our franchise history, I'm actually worried about tonight, not excited like I should be. The national media is going to be analyzing this game like crazy, we need to win if we want to be taken seriously.
  14. Hopefully our offense can wake up, otherwise we're going to temporarily fall off the cloud that all of us are on.
  15. I think we are underestimating the Rockies. They have a great offense and have been playing well lately. I think we will split the series.
  16. Plan is to go out with the girlfriend tomorrow night. I need an excuse to postpone so I can watch the game ;-)
  17. I have the same issue. I'm not tired when it's 'time to go to bed' but in the middle of the afternoon, I can fall asleep instantly. If I fall to the temptation of a nap, it just makes things worse at night, but if I don't take a nap, I'm useless for most of the day because I'm tired. Running is the best cure that I have found. I still take my nap, but then throwing in a nice 5 mile run in the evening makes it easier to fall asleep.
  18. I'd rather have Hart trailing at this point. More votes are going to come in for Burrell now.
  19. I bet he bats under .200. Pitchers won't give him fastballs due to the widespread knowledge of the 440 ft HR.
  20. With Suppan pitching poorly and McClung possibly overachieving, I can't say enough how huge this deal is. Today we move into the WC lead, Braun is an all-star starter, and we trade for Sabathia. I've never been this proud to be a Brewers fan in my life!!!!!!
  21. I'm just shocked that J.J. nearly made it as a starter as well--he passed up Tejada and finished only about 120,000 votes behind Hanley Ramirez. What an awesome response by Brewers fans to get Braun voted in.
  22. Prince really can't afford to GIDP here. He needs to come through.
  23. Hardy gives up the hitting streak and leaves with a standing ovation.
