  1. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I'm going to go check out, One Hundred Years of Solitude The Sound and the Fury The Remains of the Day I remember One Hundred Years of Solitude being brought up on these forums before, so it's about time I check it out. I've read a lot of the other books already mentioned and some of my favorites are: Catch-22 Gatsby Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance Life of Pi Of books that haven't been mentioned, I have enjoyed Watership Down, which is a good quick and entertaining read. The Giver is a book I read over and over again when I was young and I recently reread and loved it as much as I did when I was younger. It's still probably my favorite book. I have recently been enjoying anything and everything by John McPhee and Bill Bryson. Also worth mentioning are Crime and Punishment, which is probably my number 2 favorite and Ethan Frome.
  2. every single time i watch the price is right, it's like a time machine trip back to 1987, sitting on the floor....i love the price is right... Same here. If I happen to catch it on TV, I have flashbacks to being home sick from school sitting behind the coffee table with a bowl of soup. He will be missed.
  3. I have hours of downtime at work and I just finished up my last unread book (Annals of a Former World ). Let me know what your ONE favorite book is and why. Give me anything from Where the Wild Things Are to Anna Karenina . I'm open to suggestions.
  4. Bob Nelson of the Packers (nose tackle) had something like 140 sacks one season for me. I remember him. He was one of the best nose tackles in the game. How popular was this guy actually in real life?
  5. A reminder for the out of towners that this game is on WGN.
  6. I could call up my Uncle Walt for you....... JS Online aritcle on Uncle Walt He says he gets an equal amount of resistance as shock when he issues these tickets, because people have been doing it for so long they just don't expect it.
  7. That's the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I've seen it on ESPN a few times, but I haven't heard exactly what he was arguing about. I suppose it doesn't matter in the end. My favorite part was him covering the plate with dirt and then outlining a much larger plate.
  8. I'm in north Texas right now. The hunt is on.
  9. Chris Capuano just gave up a homerun.
  10. Chris Capuano just hit a home run.
  11. I remember trying to win that Xbox 360. I don't even really like Pepsi, but there contest fooled me into thinking that my chances of winning were good. I biggest thing that I have won was a $150 package of fireworks from a fireworks stand. I have also won a ton of little things from business card drawings, most recently a Quizno's sub. I won't consider gambling winnings.
  12. Wes Obermueller? Oh god, it really is 2004. And this whole time I thought the Brewers were just slumping.
  13. A $12.99 cutlery set. I bought something like that at Wal-Mart once. I remember that week.
  14. but 80% of mlb CFs catch that ball. Maybe 80% of Jim Edmondses catch that ball, but maybe half the league. It was a tough play, but that doesn't excuse the first play he botched. My main gripe with this game is how absolutely terrible the Braves looked tonight and the Brewers still just barely pulled off the win. We need to start scoring early and often.
  15. I just thought I'd share with everyone that I had a dream last night of Bill Hall hitting a late inning homerun after getting no hits in his previous at bats. I don't usually have dreams about the Brewers so this might be a vision into the future and not a dream.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. I never really thought of Airplane, the Hot Shots, Rambo, PA, Fletch as "bad movies". For me they always fallen under classics. They are all pretty goofy low budget flicks, but I know of few people who don't laugh out loud at them. I would say that sequals most often qualify as "bad movies", because of the likelihood that it will make money regardless of production value. Major League 3 (which I kind of like) and Airplane 2 (which I really don't) are good examples.
  17. Well if Bush were in the bullpen he wouldn't be pitching in innings 1-4, right?
  18. I know we have to face Peavy on Sunday. Are we facing Chris Young on Saturday?
  19. With the rate that Bush usually throws strikes he would be a good fit for the bullpen, not to mention he started his career in the bullpen.
  20. I saw Maddux work himself into a larger strike zone. He painted the corner and got a strike call and then threw a little further outside, but in the same area and got another strike call. edit: For reference I am talking about Braun's AB.
  21. I don't follow baseball or check this site for ONE day and this happens. I have to stop slacking.
  22. Chris Spurling..........lights out.
  23. Graffanino's BA at a whopping .192.
